How long do changes in title tags take to affect SEO?
-
This is kind of a loaded question. I'm completely new to SEO. I think my boss signed up for Moz Pro sometime in February and started adding data to our Ecommerce site to help with rankings. Sometime before this, I changed some of the title tags on the site (trying to help with organic search and CTR). I did not do a site wide change.... just changed maybe 10-20 (just a guess). I did it with keywords in mind but did not make note of when I did it. I didn't really know better at the time, and I did not have access to Google Analytics or Moz Pro.
I was looking through the ranking data/graph for February and March. It won't let me look before February 29th (so that's why I think my boss started the Mos Pro subscription around at that time). On that day it said we ranked 12 keywords in the 1-3 spot, and then the following week (march 7) it went down to 6. I don't think or know if any major site changes were implemented, so I'm not sure why that happened and if it has anything to do with my title tag changes I did maybe a week or two before (again I am not sure when I did this unfortunately). Since then the keyword ranking numbers stayed about the same with organic traffic slowly going down (it could be because we are getting out of season for our industry though). The second week of March the site was upgraded and since then the menu has been completely changed around. Last week I did a site wide title tag change. So the minor changes I made in February are no longer in effect anyway.
I added more keywords to Moz earlier this week and the number for 1-3 spot keywords went up from 6 to 20. It also says my ranking moved up 4 keywords and down 13 keywords. Anyway, I am wondering how seriously I should take these changes and if I'm damaging the site. I am new to Moz Pro also so all the data you can access is kind of confusing/overwhelming.

It is a loaded question as there are many other more important facets than Title tags. So wary of answering. A site audit is where to start. https://moz.com/blog/technical-site-audit-for-2015
Other factors to consider and monitor carefully include page loading speed, and the combinations of the url and H1's. For example I have seen sites penalized for having the same url, title tag, h1 and the meta description keyword stuffed with the same keyword. All that said title tags are still important though less so but to answer we would need context with what else is happening on site.
A quick check tool is website.grader.com On your specific question of how long until Title tags may impact usually after indexing so 2-7 days. Use fetch for google if wish to make happen sooner.
Hope that assists.

I take all aspects and changes to our sites very seriously, especially the Title tags & page content. I too adopted a Moz campaign and recently revamped our keywords to better target our product pages SEO. Analyze a Keyword is one of my favorite Moz tools. We have seen measurable improvements since that major update.
How Long to take effect? That depends on numerous variables; DA, Traffic, Links, Outside Advertising, etc... when I want faster results, I submit the updated page for indexing through Webmaster Tools.
Hope this helps

Why Only Our Homepage Can Be Crawled Showing a Redirect Message as the Meta Title
Hello Everyone, So recently when we checked our domain using a Moz Crawl Test and Screaming Frog only the homepage comes up and the meta title says “You are being redirected to…”. We have several pages that used to come up and when submitting them to GSC no issues come up. The robots.txt file looks fine as well. We thought this might be ‘server’ related but it’s a little out of our field of expertise so we thought we would find out if anyone has any experience with this (ideas of reasons, how to check…etc.) or any potential suggestions. Any extra insight would be really appreciated. Please let us know if there is anything we could provide further details for that might. Looking forward to hearing from all of you! Thanks in advance. Best,

Pages with URL Too Long
Hello Mozzers! MOZ keeps kindly telling me the URLs are too long. However, this is largely due to the structure of E-commerce site, which has to include 'brand' 'range' and 'products' keyword. For example -
Moz Pro | | tigersohelll
https://www.choicefurnituresuperstore.co.uk/Devonshire-Rustic-Oak-Bedside-Cabinet-1-Drawer-p40668.html MOZ recommends no more than 75 characters. This means we have 25-30 characters for both the brand name and product name. Questions:
If it is an issue, how to fix it on my site?
If it's not an issue, how can we turn off this alert from MOZ?
Anyone know how big an issue URLs are as a ranking factor? I thought pretty low.0 -
Is one page with long content better than multiple pages with shorter content?
(Note, the site links are from a sandbox site and has very low DA or PA) If you look at this page, you will see at the bottom a lengthy article detailing all of the properties of the product categories in the links above. http://www.aspensecurityfasteners.com/Screws-s/432.htm My question is, is there more SEO value in having the one long article in the general product category page, or in breaking up the content and moving the sub-topics as content to the more specific sub-category pages? e.g. http://www.aspensecurityfasteners.com/Screws-Button-Head-Socket-s/1579.htm

Does Live Chat affect SERPS
For the last week we have hosted Live Chat on www.freedomltd.com desktop and tablet. The latest MOZ ranking reports shows 4 increase, 86 decrease and 170 unchanged keywords. Could Live Chat have anything to do with this?

Will Moving Categories Affect SEO
I recently designed a new website to replace an old site. We managed to hold 90% ranking and traffic by keeping the same URS's and content. Now that we have completed that we are now updating the whole site. It is an commerce website. Some of the items we were selling we are getting from a new vendor. If I move these products from one one vendor to another will this affect SEO? Here is an example. I have a product called "Green Zipper Sweater". This product is Anchored via Manufacturer and Category. The URL and Title Tag are green-zipper-sweater. If the Sweater was made by "Nike Green Sweaters" and our new supplier is "Gap Yellow and Green Sweaters". If I change the the Manufacturer and now put it under "Gap Green and Yellow Sweaters" will this affect my ranking. We are continuing to stock products from the original supplier "Nike Green Sweaters" and we have an aggressive SEO plan and are ranking very well for "Nike Green Sweaters". We also have good product ranking so "Green Zipper Sweater" brings us a lot of traffic. I want to be sure I do not loose ranking for the product page "Green Zipper Sweater" and the Brand "Nike Green Sweaters" Any advice would be appreciated.

Mac Alternatives for Netpeak & SEO Tools For Excel?
Does anybody know of any mac alternatives for Netpeak & SEO tools for excel? I haven't been able to find any. I just need something to pull PA & DA quickly for a list of domains and URLs. Will I just have to create something custom with the Moz API?

Increase of 404 error after change of encoding
Hello, We just have launch a new version of our website with a new utf-8 encoding. Thing is, we use comma as a separator and since the new website went live, I have a massive increase of 404 error of comma-encoded URL. Here is an example : http://web.bons-de-reduction.com/annuaire%2C321-sticker%2Csite%2Cpromotions%2C5941.html instead of : http://web.bons-de-reduction.com/annuaire,321-sticker,site,promotions,5941.html I check with Screaming Frog SEO and Xenu, I can't manage to find any encoded URL. Is anyone have a clue on how to fix that ? Thanks

Duplicate page titles are the same URL listed twice
The system says I have two duplicate page titles. The page titles are exactly the same because the two URLs are exactly the same. These same two identical URLs show up in the Duplicate Page Content also - because they are the same. We also have a blog and there are two tag pags showing identical content - I have blocked the blog in robots.txt now, because the blog is only for writers. I suppose I could have just blocked the tags pages.
