Anchor Text - easy loans spam
-
Hi Moz Gurus,
I've been trying for over a year now to clean our website from a virus that hit us. This virus created internal links to these spam- pay day loans, easy loans websites, as well as thousands of external links linking to our domain, and for a while our page redirected to another website. From thousands of links we've managed to get it down to 300, now to 100 ( changed into 410) URL errors that still appear on google webmaster tools under crawl errors.
We had our website on Wordpress, currently we are working manually using FTP access.
Looking at Moz Open Site Explorer - 90% of the Anchor text for the Root Domain appear as : easy pay day loans etc.
How do I get rid of this? Or what is to do in this case? Does it reflect bad on the SEO that the anchor text is not matching our keywords?
Looking forward to your reply.

That's good news on both fronts.
Just remember with the disavow file, to add to the file that is there. It's too easy to overwrite a file and reverse work you have already done.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for your reply. It's all secure now.
We have built quite a few disavow lists since the incident, however I will do another one and take it from there.
Oh yes we definitely dropped in rankings. If we were on first page top 5 for certain keywords and top 10 for other, now we dropped significantly.
Despite this, I can see a slow increase, and I am hoping with further work we can disassociate ourselves from the spam and increase SERPs.

Hi Monica,
It is horrible when that happens - just to check, have you secured the site now to prevent unauthorised access?
With regards the external anchor texts, these are going to be picked up by what the MOZ crawler finds, but it won't be an instant change. The crawler will have to revisit all of these sites to see links that have changed.
Don't worry about these still being shown in MOZ - it will take time, but if you still find external links to you, just build a disavow list.
Have you noticed any drop in the SERPs?

Persistent High Spam Score
As per Moz, the spam score of my website is 41%. As it was an old domain we bought, we disavowed the two linking domains that we thought might be the reason for the high spam score. But after having done so for more than a month, the spam score of 41% still persists. Can anyone suggest me what can we do to sort this out?

Spam links with high DA
I'm running through the spam analysis and noticed a few links that are considered to be 9+ on the spam score (high spam level), but some of them have DA of 60 -75. How can this be possible? When I view the sites they appear to be be pretty low quality. If i'm considering disavowing a site should I focus on spam score or DA? A DA of 75 is a pretty reputable standing.

Can we disavow all spammy looking sites in OSE with a spam score of 5 or above?
Hello, We'd like to use OSE to make a disavow list. Can we just go through everything with a spam score of 5 or higher that looks like spam when we visit the site and disavow all of them? I'll be using Moz pro, are there any other free tools that I can utilize? What do I keep in mind? Thanks!

Spam Score shows No Contact Info even though I have a Contact Page
Hello, Open Site Explorer give me a Spam Flag for No Contact Info, but I have a Contact page (http://www.localwisejobs.com/contact/) Google has indexed my contact page. So that's not the problem. Any idea why I'm seeing this flag? Thanks!

Moz Spam Analysis vs. GWMT Links to Your Site
Hi Moz Community, I have been conducting some link auditing and started comparing the Moz Spam Analysis tool with the links provided in Google WMT. It appears that the Moz Spam Analysis tools shows an aggregate of links that Moz may or may not consider spam, however when you download and look at Google's "Links to Your Site" list it provides every link iteration known to man that's pointing to the target website - without providing any hints as to whether or not a link may be considered spam by Google. The biggest concern I have here is that Google is picking up a lot of links, which I consider spam, that do not appear in the Moz Spam Analysis results. I guess the question(s) I have are: Does it make sense to compare these two data sets? Has anyone else tried this comparison and how did you use the information to make positive changes? Any recommendations when it comes to determining if an external link is spam/hurting/helping a website? Thank you!

On Page Report - To Much Alt. Text Keyword Usage
I ran a Moz on page report for our Roho Cushions page using the keyword Roho Cushions. I found "keyword stuffing" within the page, mainly from alternate text on images. The report told me I have 45 IMG ALT keywords & 28 Body Keywords. I cannot find the keywords I've used in the body, and if I inspect any image element, the keyword is not used as alternate text. I've ran this report multiple times in the past 2 weeks and have come up with the same results. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks!
