International Href Lang Tag Parameter Issue
-
Hey, let's say I'm on the following page..
site.com/product-name/product-code/?d=womens
I view the page source and it looks like this..
My question is, should I remove the parameter for the hreflang tag????
I just need some clarification that NO parameter page should have a canonical tag and / or href lang with parameters..
-
Hreflang tags should point to the canonical version of the page. So yes, please remove the ?d=Womens from all your Hreflang URLs.
Here are the results of a test run on this URL to check for Hreflang errors:
https://app.hreflang.org/results.php?runid=f622e3d03dbf4a03958c6a6d2d180bd020160719202039
You will see that all errors are because of the ?d=Womens in the URLs.
-
No, they should not stay.
Canonicals and hreflang should point to the same page.Like this:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="<a href="http://www.revolve.com/nightcap-dixie-cutout-mini-dress-in-sangria/dp/NIGH-WD262/?d=Womens" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.revolve.com/nightcap-dixie-cutout-mini-dress-in-sangria/dp/NIGH-WD262/" />

ok,
no, you should not remove the parameter unless there is a canonical tag, then set the hreflang as the canonical -
No it's not about removing the hreflang tag. It's that the hreflang has a parameter. Should I remove the parameter?
-
So, the clarification that you needed: No, you have not to remove the hreflang.
And there must be one tag for every language, in this case 8 hreflang. -
Hey GR,
There are 7 other ccTLD's which is why we have the href lang tag.
-
Hi paul,
Does that page have other languages? Or just frech?
In that case, it is no needed to set hreflang. Just declarin it in search console is enough.Besides its a page with a parameter, it still needs to be declared its language. (with hreflan if there are other languages and with SC, or if there is only one language just with SC)
Hope it helps
GR.

Htaccess Issue: URL not resolving properly
I am merging a niche site, tshirts.com to another site mainsite.com. I am using an htaccess file on a linux server, and the homepage of the niche site is being directed to the corresponding category page on the main site (i.e nichesite.com to mainsite.com/niche.html). Everything else is also a page to page redirect. I have something like this in the htaccess file: Redirect 301 http://tshirts.com/ http://www.mainsite.com/tshirts.html

Redirect 301 http://tshirts.com/blue.html http://www.lampclick.com/blue-t-shirts.html
Redirect 301 http://tshirts.com/white.html http://www.mainsite.com/white-t-shirts.html
Redirect 301 http://tshirts.com/black-tshirts.html http://www.mainsite.com/bk-t-shirts.html When I check 301 for lets say http://tshirts.com/blue.html, I get: http://tshirts.com/blue.html -** 301 Moved Permanently** http://www.mainsite.com/tshirts.htmlblue.html -** 302 Found** http:www.mainsite.com/ How do I fix this? Why is everything being appended to minsite/tshirts.html? I appreciate your help.0 -

Mobile Sitemap Issue
Hi there, I am having some difficulty with an error on Webmaster Tools. I'm concerned with a possible duplicate content penalty following the launch of my mobile site. I have attempted to update my sitemap to inform Google that a different mobile page exists in addition to the desktop page. I have followed Google's guidelines as outlined here:

http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34648 I'm having problems with my sitemap.xml file. Webmaster tools is reporting that it is not able to read the file and when I validate it I am getting an error stating that the 'Namespace prefix xhtml on link is not defined'. All I am trying to do is to create a sitemap that uses the rel="alternate" to inform Google that their is a mobile version of that specific page in addition to the desktop version. An instance of the code I am using is below: xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="gss.xsl"?> <urlset< span="">xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84 http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9/sitemap.xsd"> http://www.mydomain/info/detail/ <xhtml:link< span="">rel="alternate" media="only screen and (max-width: 640px)" href="http://m.mydomain.com/info/detail.html"/> <lastmod></lastmod>2013-02-01T16:03:48+00:00<changefreq></changefreq>daily0.50</xhtml:link<></urlset<> Any help would be much appreciated. How can I penalise my own site in an international search?
Perhaps penalise isn't the right word, but we have two ecommerce sites. One at .com and one at .com.au. For the com.au site we would like only that site to appear for our brand name search in google.com.au. For the .com site we would like only that site to appear for our brand name search in google.com. I've targeted each site in the respective country in Google Webmaster Tools and published the Australian and English address on the respective site. What I'm concerned about is people on Google.com.au searching our brand and clicking through to the .com site. Is there anything I can do to lower the ranking of my .com site in Google.com.au?

Canonical issue with my Home Page
Hi, My site has several canonical issues that should be fixed. http://www.crosscountryallied.com For my Home Page, more links are pointing at www.crosscountryallied.com/ (887) than http:// http://www.crosscountryallied.com/ctAlliedWebSite (27). It is recommended that I implement a 301 redirect to recapture a significant amount of link value. The following lists show the most common canonicalization errors that can be produced when using default settings on my web server: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6 (IIS): http://www.crosscountryallied.com/ http://www.crosscountryallied.com/default.jsp (or .jsp depending on the version) http://crosscountryallied.com/ http://crosscountryallied.com/default.jsp or any combination with different capitalization. Each of these URLs spreads out the value of backlinks to our homepage. Should I just redirect them to: http://www.crosscountryallied.com and add a canonical tag?
