What a Brand should do first for Their Blog Keyword Research or Topic Research?

Hello Moz Community,
Need your help guys. What a Brand should do first for their Blog?
Keyword Research or Topic Research?
Like for the Brand Product page/ eCom Pages, it's quite easy >
1. Buy "Product" Online
2. Buy "Product" "Geo."
3. Product Reviews [for Guest Posting or Reviews]
4. Best "Product" Online and soBut, for the blog, it's tough for searching out the keywords that will work if the SEO team or the keyword research team is not aware or don't have the detailed knowledge about the niche they are working on.
Please verify: Is it a correct method that an editor should provide a "topic" to the SEO team to find relevant keywords by using a Keyword Research tool that there are enough searches for it which can provide benefits to the blog via the search engine.

Hello,
Have you tried the Moz Keyword Explorer tool? You can find out how often keywords are searched, how difficult it is to rank on Google for these keywords, the opportunity that your link will actually be clicked on, the human element (aka what we know that the data doesn't know), and finally, the potential, which takes all those aforementioned metrics into consideration.
One of the REALLY cool things about this tool is this: you can type in a keyword, and then a list of keywords (long tailed and short) will show up in a list. Often times, commonly searched questions will show up in this list, which can inspire blog topics.
That way, you can research keywords and topics at the same time.
Hope this helps--best of luck.

I got Thank you so much for replying.
But, the problem is that the editor is working in a wrong fashion here.
1. We find the keywords for the blog
2. Check out the searches mark which is 1000 Searches/Mo Geo-Specific.
3. Now, competition analysisand then the list of the keywords will be sent to the editor. And the editor will just create the title, and that's it.
Please tell me how to give the instructions to the editor so, that we'll get a fruitful result with better rankings or consumer trust.
Thank you

I think a good editor can come up with topics. Especially if he's familiar with the brand.
If you want, you can find topics by researching your top keywords. For example, if you sell tuna you can find search suggestions for that word and that would be your topics, e.g.:

This tool is free and unlimited, you can always find good topic ideas there, there were >1,000 questions for the word "tuna", These questions are all gathered from google's search suggestions.
I work for Serpstat so if you'll have any questions feel free to address me.Another tool that you can use for the same purpose is Answer The Public.

Why would a newly created site, have ranked ahead of our site for keyword that we are optimized for?
This newly created site has a DA of 1 and PA of 1, no backlinks, no optimized urls, the keyword they ranked better than us on was listed a total of 6 times on the homepage. Our PA is 29 and DA is 18 for the page that ranks for this keyword. They really copied a few elements of our site but made sure to change a few things, but also list at the bottom of their site 5 keywords that are crucial to our niche industry but they're all linking to the same page. Any ideas? It's an SEO guy running the site, we've watched them toy with adwords trying to be number 1, but not liking the price, so they are here and there with it. Mainly I don't see why they'd rank better for this keyword, we our site have prolly 500% more content that's both of quality and relevance to our customers, in the form of Pdfs, infographics, help sections, and video. Very baffled here, any advice would rock!

How to check Google Keyword rankings?
Hey, So I recently watched the DuckDuckGo commercial about Google's results bubble. My question is how can you get the actual keyword rankings of relevant key phrases without Google taking your locations and search history into account? Would it just be a case of clearing your cache & history from the beginning of time or is there an accurate tool (other than SEOmoz ofc that I can use? Best regards, Dan

Working through the slides on my first seo project, I'm trying to determine the most popular content on competition sites.
From the video, I understand I should be looking for unique opportunities. But is there a baseline for product qualification, ie., a min. PA,LRD, Inbound LInks, social shares, etc. I guess I'm asking what I should be looking for in the data provided on each competing site? What determines THE most popular and unique product?

Competior Research & Analyse
Hi, I like to know the inbound marketing sources of my competitors, and like to know how many traffic are receiving from Organic Ranking and Adwords or Search Engine Paid Marketing. ANd it would be nice to know the social media traffic too. I am searching, but i see here compete.com, but at the moment it's too expensive for me, like to ask you if you can find me to find any software cheaper than compete. Thanks.

What keywords would you suggest for interesting concept?
Not sure if it's OK to ask just about anything as long as it is relevant, but I would love to hear thoughts about good keywords to promote an app that will make it easy to migrate/move phone data and files - contacts, photos, music, calendars - from one phone - like a BB, iPhone or WinMo - to an Android phone or device? I'm having the darnest time coming up with phrases that people who are searching for such an app would use? Thanks
