Search Result Page, Index or Not?
-
I believe Google doesn't want to index and show other search result pages in there SERP.
So instead of adding "noindex, follow" tag i have changed the url in my search result page like this:Original
http://www.mysite.com/kb-search.aspx?=travelguide&type=wiki&s=3To
http://www.mysite.com/travelguide/attraction-guide.htmlAnd the search result page contains the title of the articles, a short descriptions (300 chars.) and a link to the articles.
Does it help? Or should i add noindex, follow tag?
Helps Please?

Changing the URL as you've done should help, but if it is still a search results page, Google won't want to show it, even though they don't put a lot into identifying internal search landing pages. So you should be fine with what you've done. If you feel these pages are really helpful and you'd like to land users on them, an improvement might be to create navigation to http://www.mysite.com/travelguide/attraction-guide.html and similar pages and redirect internal searches for relevant keywords to that page. This way the page is more than a search results page.

You said "Google doesn't want to index and show other search result pages" but keep reading your email, you mean "site search", not Bing, right?
I have ton of experience with site search boxes. My answer is to code kb-search.aspx to auto-generate the metatags and on-page for the keywords argument. Then, have a link like "what people are searching for" to a new SELECT
aggregated page with anchor and links (50 max).Google loves it!

Problems with to many indexed pages
A client of our have not been able to rank very well the last few years. They are a big brand in our country, have more than 100+ offline stores and have plenty of inbound links. Our main issue has been that they have to many indexed pages. Before we started we they had around 750.000 pages in the Google index. After a bit of work we got it down to 400-450.000. During our latest push we used the robots meta tag with "noindex, nofollow" on all pages we wanted to get out of the index, along with canonical to correct URL - nothing was done to robots.txt to block the crawlers from entering the pages we wanted out. Our aim is to get it down to roughly 5000+ pages. They just passed 5000 products + 100 categories. I added this about 10 days ago, but nothing has happened yet. Is there anything I can to do speed up the process of getting all the pages out of index? The page is vita.no if you want to have a look!

Pages to be indexed in Google
Hi, We have 70K posts in our site but Google has scanned 500K pages and these extra pages are category pages or User profile pages. Each category has a page and each user has a page. When we have 90K users so Google has indexed 90K pages of users alone. My question is. Should we leave it as they are or should we block them from being indexed? As we get unwanted landings to the pages and huge bounce rate. If we need to remove what needs to be done? Robots block or Noindex/Nofollow Regards

41.000 pages indexed two years after it was redirected to a new domain
Hi!Two years ago, we changed the domain elmundodportivo.es to mundodeportivo.com. Apparently, everything was OK, but more than two years later, there are still 41.000 pages indexed in Google (https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aelmundodeportivo.es) even though all the domains have been redirected with a 301 redirect. I detected some problems with redirections that were 303 instead of 301, but we fixed that one month ago.A secondary problem is that the pagerank for elmundodportivo.es is 7 yet and mundodeportivo.com is 3.What I'm doing wrong?Thank you all,Oriol

My URL is: pure mobile . ca when searching on google for "puremobile note 2 defender" the search results are coming up with the incorrect title pages of my search results - for some reason all the search results are coming up with "unlocked cell phone" at the end of the title. but on the android and on my desktop - they show the correct title of my pages. we used to deal with unlocked cell phone ( over a year ago) - and all meta tags and title tags have been fully updated. how can i let google know to update these results.

Pages not Indexed after a successful Google Fetch
I am trying to understand why google isn't indexing key content on my site. www.BeyondTransition.com is indexed and new pages show up in a couple of hours. My key content is 6 pages of information for each of 3000 events (driven by mySQL on a wordpress platform). These pages are reached via a search page, but no direct navigation from the home page. When I link to an event page from an indexed page it doesn't show up in search results. When I use fetch on webmaster tools the fetch is successful but is then not indexed - or if it does appear in results it's directed to the internal search page e.g. http://www.beyondtransition.com/site/races/course/race110003/ has been fetched and submitted with links but when I search for BeyondTransition Ironman Cozumel I get these results.... So what have I done wrong and how do I go about fixing it? All thoughts and advice appreciated Thanks Denis
