Are CPAN (perl modules distributed hosting) links bad?
-
In the past, we contributed to CPAN and have a lot of links from mirror sites as a result. These are legitimate links but I'm wondering if they are holding us back. For those that aren't familiar, CPAN hosts code modules that are freely distributed for Perl programming. The code library is hosted on many mirror sites across the web in an effort to distribute the load of requests for modules when they're installed. The page that exists across multiple sites links a team member's name to our website.
For example, http://cpan.mirrors.uk2.net/authors/00whois.html, http://ukdebian.mirror.anlx.net/CPAN/authors/00whois.html and http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/cpan.perl.org/CPAN/modules/by-authors/00whois.html. Same content, different website.
Thoughts? Is it worth pursing or disavowing?

Thanks, Andy. They've been around for a long time so I can't say they've created a drop. I'm more or less wondering if they could be holding us back. They show up in SEMRush as having spam scores that vary. I'm going to disavow the ones above 50 and see what happens. Probably not much but we'll see.

If you haven't seen a drop because of this, then it means they are either being ignored by Google, or they are just not worth worrying about. Penguin has evolved and Google are now pretty good at just ignoring links that are 'crappy'.
There might come a point where too many of these does cause you problems though, so if they aren't doing anything either way, perhaps disavow the domain for peace of mind?

Paid Manual 10 Guest Post EDU Back-Links - GOOD or BAD idea?
Hello, I know **Fiverr **has been a topic of discussion for a while in regards to cheap and bad SEO work. Most of the threads I found here refer to buying 1000's of EDU backlinks - but what about 10 manually placed that seem legit? The seller states in his GIG "I have guest posting privilege at Different University websites. I will write and publish a post there with a dofollow backlink to your website, using your anchor text. The article will contain one relevant, contextual link to your website, using a suitable anchor text. There would also be a few other links to authority sites (not your competitors’ sites) to make everything look professional and natural." Could anyone give me advice as to something like this is worth it - or did the seller simply reduce the number from 1000's to 10's to avoid suspicion? I mean even if 1 of the links is valid - surely it makes a difference? or am I still high on the fiverr dream? I dont expect an instant PR or SERP increase, Im simply wondering if something like this is harmful or beneficial, and to what extent.

Disavow links from legit sites but have spammy link profiles?
I'm currently doing a backlink audit for our site with a LOT of backlinks. Some of the linking sites are legitimate business websites in our industry who have linked to us for a totally legitimate reason (we have good content!). However, these businesses themselves have a spammy backlink profile—that is, the only sites linking to that site are obvious link farm sites. Here is an illustration: spammyseolinks.com; payforseo.xyz; blackhat.ru ==all link to==> legitbusiness.com ==links to==> mysite.com Should I disavow this backlink? I guess it's not really giving me much SEO worth since it surely been branded a spammy junk domain, but then again, it's a real website that we've earned a link from because we're doing stuff the right way. Is it hurting or helping me?

Link from or 301 Domains?
I have 3 domains that are in the same niche as my main site and not connected in any way. Now my question is should I just link to my main site from each of them on a page that is relevant to my main Keywords or should I 301 them to the site? I am thinking that building a link to my main site would have more effect than 301's. Thanks in advance!

Link Ratio
Does Google (or other search engines) penalize websites if they have a too many inbound links from a single domain? (Say for instance, I have 500 inbound links, and 400 of them are from one root domain.)
