Attribution model - the weighted number of conversions - GA
-
Hi,
1.Can someone explain me with an example what is "The weighted number of conversions under the custom selected attribution model"? How Analytics calculate it?
2. If I increase e.g social source for 1.4 in my attribution model, my organic or direct source are loosing that weighted number of conversions. Could it be because of organic or direct getting lower credit, or for some other reason?
Ty. Br.

Thank you.
But, hm, I don't know. I'm using a data driven attribution model with 12 channels.
If I increase boost for 1.4, my boost weighted conversions will grow from 8 to 8.50.
How can I see, how much real conversions I will get with that change?

Hey Tormar,
I saw that you posted this question a few times here in various Google Analytics forums, but didn't get any help. Let's see if we can't get you all sorted out.
Your questions as I understand it
- You want an example to better help you understand 'weighted number of conversions' under the custom selected attribution model within Google Analytic's Model Comparison Tool.
- You want to know how Google Analytics calculates this value.
- You want to know if when you increase the value of social sources in your attribution model, why you then see a lower value for organic or direct.
I'm going to attempt to tackle these three, but if you feel I did not adequately understand your question, please feel free to add more information or correct me.
Before we get started
I think it's important to first address that all attribution models within Google Analytic's Model Comparison Tool are a zero-sum game. By that I mean that there is an inverse correlation between each facet of each individual attribution model.
Stated differently, each conversion (or goal, or transaction, etc.) is only one conversion. While the linear attribution model disperses the 'value' of a conversion equally across all interactions, the summation of all of these interaction's value will always = 1.Ok, now that we've covered that let's jump into it.
- I think you're attempting to create a custom attribution model. When doing so, you will need to first determine what existing model you want to base your custom model from, then you will define the value you want to give to each facet. I cannot possibly go into all the possible combinations here, but here's a starting point to diving into the process.
The weight you're giving each facet is the percentage (expressed in decimal form) of the total (which is 1) that facet will receive. In a linear attribution model with 5 interactions each interaction would receive 20% (0.2) of the credit for each conversion.
Circling back to your question, the number of conversions when viewing a report is the summation of all attributed values across the defined timeline & parameters. - I explained this a bit in #1, but Google Analytics is taking your defined values for each facet & distributing value aross them proportionally to the values you defined in the custom attribution model.
- As I mentioned above, this is a zero-sum game, or an inverse correlation. When you increase one facet's value (in your example, social) the other values must decrease proportionally.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further help or if this answered your question!
Regards,
Trenton

Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
We are attempting to keep the number of CTAs (Calls to Action) on our commercial real estate website to a minimum. Our adjusted design (see attached) has 2 CTAs. One is "Contact Agent" the other is "Schedule a Tour". We are focusing on the listing page, which is the primary product page and critical in terms of CTA. Our mobile version does not show a phone number while the desktop version (also attached) displays a phone number. Should the mobile version also display a button a phone number? Some members of our target audiences, business owners and executives who are often in their 40s and 50s may prefer to call us up rather than communicate by written message. Any suggestions for elegantly displaying the phone number without causing confusion? I have read that the number of CTAs should be limited so I am on the fence as to whether or not to include a phone number Thanks,

Has anyone ever used Adwords' Forwarding Numbers as a Call Tracking Service?
Hi, I was taking over a client's Adwords account from a previous agency. It appears the former agency added the Google Forwarding Number (for call tracking on call extensions) and added it to the client's website. Therefore, if anyone calls that number from the website, it would register within Adwords (just not as a conversion but as a click under "call extensions") The problem: you can't filter by phone number (the same number calling +1 would indicate spam) you can filter by device (so tablet / computer) can be considered spam generally. Questions: Anyone ever used this before? Your thoughts? Does anyone know if there is spam coming from mobile devices now-a-days? Please tell me what I'm missing. Any advice / anyone else seen this / done this? Thanks Moz Community, Cole

Large changes in conversions with consistent traffic
Hi Everyone, I am looking for some help, I have just taken over a campaign for a client and we are seeing huge changes in conversion rates overnight. The client is selling a health product and is consistently getting around 1-2k visitors per day. We are getting about 6% of the traffic to the buy page consistently. However, we have found that one day the order process may convert 1/20 of these visitors and another day it could be 1/80. We are only talking about 5-20 sales per day, but I am really confused why one day it can convert so well and another so poorly. The traffic being sent is the same and all other factors are the same (no split testing). There seems to be no logic, the day of the week does not seem to impact, it almost seems random. If anybody has any recommended places to look that would be very helpful as at the moment I am at a loss. Example: Sunday 15th Visitors: 1,279

Is it possible to set a Goal conversion tracking from a subdomain to a root domain?
Hi Mozzers, Here is an issue I am going through: I have a root domain(www.example.com) that is the core website where you are able to schedule a service I have a subdomain (sub.example.om) that is part of content strategy offering free tips and follows a different branding strategy. There are internal links from sub to root domain I have a GA subdomain tracking code installed on every page for both domains I would love to set goal tracking on GA for visitors coming to my subdomain, then going to root domain and then schedule a sevices? Is this possible? If it is, can someone show me a How To because I tried it anddidn't work? Thanks mozzers!

How to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page?
hi, This is my first question in the forums and I'm looking forward to be part of a great SEO community. I was wondering ow to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page? I've been using Wordpress jetpack site stats for while, which shows great data like keywords used in google, landing page etc. But I would like to have access to the full path for each separate visitors (including their IP address and country is possible) to improve my website and conversions. Example: step 1: Visitor X types "seo" on Google step 2: visitor lands on my homepage step 3: visitor visits to order page and buys Is there such tool available as a Wordpress plugin? Or do I have to use Google analytics for this? thank you for your help, Marc

Conversion optimization with Optimizely, impact on SEO
I am looking into signing up with www.optimizely.com for conversion testing. They put scripting on my site which will then redirect half of my site visitors to an alternate home page. The site I want to test on is ranking quite well with Google and I do not want to hurt my rankings. And with this set up,what Google will think is my home page is not and so I am essentially sending visitors to a different page than Google reads as my home page in source code. So, my concern is whether this will have a negative impact on my SEO rankings to redirect 50% of site visitors to a different page using this testing tool? I would use Google Web Site Optimizer, but many of my sites are in Wordpress and it seems that Wordpress and web site optimizer are not so compatible. Advice would be appreciated. Thank you, Robert

Low conversion rate, high ticket item... but not THAT high
Oh great mozzers, I fall at your feet... I feel like I'm going insane... My client, 35 Degrees (http://35DegreesSteaks.com) is quite the mystery. I handle SEO and paid search for them, and we're doing great in those areas... however, we're just not seeing the conversions once I deliver these folks to the site. The people are targeted, the keywords are sound, and from what I can see, the checkout process isn't a mess... but they are just not getting the sales. We're currently starting to test some price points with some newer, lower cost "intro packages", so we'll see if that's one of the pain points. I'm also in the process of convincing them to include a Verisign or some other logo in the checkout process. However, I was hoping the great minds here could take a quick look and see if I'm missing anything else. Thanks in advance! Jeff
