Is this blog running on the Genesis Framework?
-
Hi all,
WordPress isn't my area of specialty in terms of themes and identifying what a blog might currently be using.
Here's the link: http://www.pens.com/blog
I've had one developer tell me this blog is on the Genesis framework and another one told me it is not. Can someone weigh in here and also give me some tips on how to know one way or the other?
If it is not on the Genesis Framework, can you provide any helpful links/tutorials on how to get this blog onto the Genesis Framework? We want to be able to use Yoast SEO and apparently our current theme will not allow us to do so. Thanks in advance!
Dana

Thanks all for the help. After digging a little deeper I discovered that Yoast's inability to run properly in our blog wasn't because of the theme, but because "Your hosting environment does not support PHP's Document Object Model. To enjoy all the benefits of the page analysis feature, you'll need to (get your host to) install it."

Hi Dana,
Have you had a look at the site with Builtwith.com? Perhaps this will give you some information?

Just looking at the source code of the blog page though, it seems as though Yoast is already installed?

Hi, I have a quick question about updating blog posts. When I add "Last Updated" to an updated post should this be in any particular type of code or simply just text, perhaps with the tag? Thanks An Advance

Blogs created by a company for us and another company
Hi, we are not a big company and as well as creating our own blogs, a company for a while now has provided us each month with blog posts. But hey also provide other companies in the UK with the same content. Each month we create 2 or 3 of our own generated blog posts relating to the services we provide. Also we receive on average 10 blog posts (pulled in to the site through a word press add in and an rss feed from the company) to the site. The content is about specific topics which people will be searching for and they are really well optimized pages. Our own blog posts are looked at more often 80% to 20% but we do have a great link from a national site with a DA of 97 linking to one of their blog posts. But I wondered if google penalizes us because there will be other companies across the UK with the exact same content as us? Or whether these blog posts will help us because it is great content, even though other companies will probably have the same posts on their site? Nobody in our area uses this content as we have an agreement with the company which provides it. Many Thanks

Adding Tags in the blog is good or bad?
Hi Friends, In my blog I used to write unique content in between 300 to 450 words and add the related tags up to 15. When I research about adding tags in the blog I come across this video from “Matt Cutts” says Is it worth spending time on creating tags and categories? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A96yDPqa2rs Key Points from Matt Cutts Video are given below: No Need Tags - In general, Google figure out what your post is about, so don't worry too much about it. So my question is do I need to remove all tags from my blog or can I reduce the tag count to 5 alone? Currently I am using 15 tags to each post, is there any dis-advantage by adding tags like this? Let me know your suggestions? Thanks

Is my blog simply duplicate content of my authors' profiles?
www.example.com/blog is the full list of blog posts by various writers. The list contains the title of each article and the first paragraph from the article. In addition to /blog being indexed, each author's contribution list is being indexed separately. It's not a profile, really, just a list of articles in the same title & paragraph format of the /blog page. So if /blog a list of 10 articles written by two writers, I have three pages: /blog/author1 is a list of 4 articles /blog/author2 is a list of 6 different articles /blog is a list of 10 articles (the 4+6 from the two writers) Is this going to be considered duplicate content?

Blog Post Snippets on HP & Cat Pages
I want my blog's category pages to have the ability to be indexed and rank, therefore I don't want to noindex these pages. My strategy is to create original snippets for each post on these pages but I don't know what Wordpress plugin or configuration I can use to create original snippet content on the Homepage and Category pages that will not show up within the blog post text itself. Any suggestions?
