Ranking fluctuation
-
According to Miles Rank tracking I have a keyword that is fluctuating by 5 or 6 positions in a 24-hour period every time it goes 10 down to 15 and back to 10 again with very little stopping point in between and keeps fluctuating like that.
As far as I know the website is stable it uses Magento 1.9 and is a fixed category page.
The page URL is relatively new as we migrated from an old site with a different URL structure I added 301s at server level from the old page URL to the new one.
There is only two things I can think that can be the problem -
1. Lack of links directly to the page (there is literally only one or two)
2. Loading speed problemBut I don't see any of these would cause a 5 position fluctuation regularly every day.
But do you have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

As Martin has said (and others in the helpful link he provided), it's perfectly normal for fluctuations to occur. Before you decide that it's a problem with your site or page, you should check to if your competition is experiencing similar fluctuations. Check out Mozcast too. There has been a lot of fluctuation in the SERPs lately.

Ranking fluctuations are quite common and there's not much you can do about it specifically. However, if it's every day like this, there could be some crawling issue every time Google tries to crawl the page. Try and look into it deeper in Google Search Console.
In general, the best way would be to build domain authority by creating quality content and acquiring backlinks to get your website to #1 position. It'll be more important to Google and won't be messing with your site as much as now.

Unknown Subdomains Ranking
In spot checking some pages that I recently launched, I found subdomains ranking in place of the domain. The strange thing is, we never set up these sub-domains and they don't exist on our server. The pages, though they're indexed with the proper title and meta-description, time out when clicked. We're operating on Drupal 7, pages launched at the beginning of the month. The other pages within the series of content are ranking properly. Any thoughts or tips to resolve this?

Moving to New Domain - Ranking impact
I understand that when migrating to a new site, even if done perfectly (page level 301s etc) that rankings will drop in the short term and each site will be impacted differently. I picked up the following comment and was wanting to get a few experts thoughts on whether I can quote this to my client: "In our experience, even when 301's are correctly executed, we see a short term fall back (7-30) days and then about a 90% carry through after that period for about 90 days and then back to full strength. "

Does Alexa ranking consider unique visitor only?
The traffic of my website has been dropping since 2 months ago while I am seeing the Alexa ranking is increasing I know some of our staff need to visit our website( home page and some other front pages) daily to handle some data gathering. But they are from a same ip/office. Would this become a factor of this Alexa ranking result?

Thought I was Hit By Panda? Regained Rankings?
Hello, At the beginning of the week, traffic dropped drastically, I was under the impression that the site was hit by panda. This morning, I am seeing the keywords/pages, right back into position? Does anyone know what this could be? Webmaster had no messages, and was free of errors? Thank you!

Is a redirect based on a session cookie hurting rankings?
My clients business is divided in chain stores. All stores are set under the same franchise. There is one domain www.company.com with branches like www.company.com/location1/content and www.company.com/location2/content etc. I've taken care of duplicate content issues with rel="canonical" and duplicate page titles are also not a concern, anymore. Right now the concept is like this: If you visit the site for the first time you get to choose between the locations. Then a cookie is set and once you revisit www.company.com it will redirect you via a php header command to the location stored in your cookie: www.company.com/location1/content. My question is if this might hurt rankings in some kind of way as these aren't permanent redirects with a 301 but rather individual ones, based on your cookie.
