Has there been an algorithm change in the last week?
-
Hi guys,
Rankings for almost half of our targeted keywords have gone down this week vs. last week.
I have checked a couple of rank trackers and all are reporting some serious movement in Google's algorithms during this period.
Does anyone have any further information on this that can help me restore our rankings? I haven't read anything in regards to any 'major' pending updates.
Many thanks in advance,
Jack

Thanks, Donna.
My plan is to not have a knee-jerk reaction to this, and as you say, just see how things play out over the next week or so.
Many thanks for your response - I really appreciate it.

Hi Jack,
I saw your question a few days ago and didn't respond thinking I'd wait and see if there was talk of an update in the SEO forums. There hasn't been any.
As you probably know, Google updates its ranking algorithm 500-600 times a year. Only the larger, more disruptive ones get talked about in the forums. You may be witnessing one of the smaller ones. I know I have seen some fluctuations this week.
As to what to do about it, if you're playing by the rules I'd sit tight and see if things normalize over the coming few weeks. It's not unusual for there to be significant changes that eventually reverse. If things don't normalize, then you're going to have to do some comparative analysis to figure out what you need to do to catch up again.
Not a specific answer - sorry, there isn't one. I could be so many different things.

With the New Panda update supposedly only weeks away, is it wise to No Index my products I have not had time to rewrite the product descriptions for ?
Hi Mozzers, I read on SEJ yesterday than apparently the Panda update was due in the 2 - 4 weeks. I still have a large of my products which I have not got around to rewriting unique product descriptions for. I know these product descriptions are duplicated on other affiliate sites so do it think it in light of the panda update coming , would it wise to put a NO INDEX Meta tag on these product pages until I get around to rewriting the descriptions. That way, I may not hit my Panda and it will buy me a bit more time. Just an idea , but thought I'd run it by. thanks Pete

Shoing strong for last 2 years for search terms NOW GONE! What happened?
Hi All! I have a 9-11~ my website www.popscrap.com has been showing strong (top 2) for about 2 years now for many of the search terms we are targeting (scrap software; scrap medal software; recycling software; etc.), and I just noticed today that we are nowhere. What do you suggest for troubleshooting this to find the cause and fix? Thanks!

How fast to change keyword rich anchor text
Hello, A client of mine has a site with almost all keyword rich anchor text, The problem is on on a bunch of little blogs and some (mostly sitewide) paid links. We are working to move into 100% white hat SEO, but we're doing it slowly. My question is, how fast can we change the anchor text on all of these links? I'm worried that if I do it too fast that it will be a red flag. Thanks.

After reading of Google's so called "over-optimization" penalty, is there a penalty for changing title tags too frequently?
In other words, does title tag change frequency hurt SEO ? After changing my title tags, I have noticed a steep decline in impressions, but an increase in CTR and rankings. I'd like to once again change the title tags to try and regain impressions. Is there any penalty for changing title tags too often? From SEO forums online, there seems to be a bit of confusion on this subject...

Changing Domain / Site Name - An SEO Nightmare?

Redirect Help - Domain Change and Website Redesign
Hi there, I've redesigned a website for a client, but we are also changing domains and I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up the redirects from their old domain to the new one. 95% of their search engine traffic originally came through brand related keywords that landed on their homepage, and most of the remaining 15% landed on 3 other pages. The new site has pages to replace these 3 main SEO pages, and I'm about to set 301 redirects from their old domain, but I can't figure out the quickest/best way to do it. Is it possible to set up a specific redirect for the 4 main pages (Home + plus the 3 others) then a "catch all" type of thing for the rest of the pages, that redirect either to the homepage, or some sort of "Check out our new Site" landing page. How do you do this, or is there a better way to set it up? Thanks!
