You're welcome, Jeenu, and good luck with the audit. It can be really fun wading into these kinds of details. You never know what you'll discover!
-
Great Thanks Miriam.
I will do same.
Have a great time ahead!
Thanks. -
Hi Jeenu,
Thanks for the reply. Okay, so your best bet at this point is to do a complete competitive audit of the company that is outranking your client, doing a side-by-side comparison of their metrics vs. your client's. This will enable you to form a hypothesis about what factors the competitor has that are stronger than your client's and that may be leading Google to favor that competitor over your client. You need to look at every possible factor so that you can form a picture in your mind of why the competitor gets to show at the automatic zoom level while your client is being filtered out. Is it domain authority, age of domain, citation consistency, reviews, links, etc? You'll have to be extremely thorough to start to get to the root of the matter.
Once you've formed your hypothesis, the second step will be to create a plan for your client to begin beating the competitor's metrics. Maybe your client will need more authoritative links, better GMB landing page URL content, etc. Every case will be different, so there's no shortcut for getting down into the trenches on this one and doing the research and analysis to form a clear plan.
Your goal: find what improvements your client needs to make in order to convince Google that his business is the one that deserves to be shown at the automatic zoom level, instead of being filtered out.
Hope this helps!

What is the relationship of the 2 businesses? Are they actually just one business, trying to appear as though they were two businesses, or are they 2 totally separate legal entities?
#. they are totally separate legal entities in same street.
Are both of these businesses your clients, or just one of them?
Only one. -
Hi Jeenu,
So that does, indeed, sound like Possum. I have a couple of follow-up questions for you:

Are both of these businesses your clients, or just one of them?

Greetings Miriam!
Hope you are doing great.I have tried the Zoom trick and found both business page is showing. Can you please suggest me the way to improve ranking of Second Business Page for First set of keywords.
Great Thanks.
-
Hi Jeenu,
Your scenario has all the earmarks of Google's Possum filter. Possum filters out business that share the same category and are in the same building or even the same couple of city blocks. The way to verify if this is Possum typically goes like this:
-
Search for your keyword and note which business is appearing on the map for it at the automatic zoom setting of the map.
-
Then, begin clicking on the zoom button, one click at a time. If the second business then appears once you've zoomed in a few times (it could be 5 clicks, 10, clicks etc.), then it's reasonable to assume that it's the Possum filter you're dealing with.
You can read more about Possum here: http://searchengineland.com/everything-need-know-googles-possum-algorithm-update-258900
Anecdotally, when I'm searching from my location in California, both Marriett and Caver are in the local pack, but I'm very far from Illinois. If you're seeing this behavior from a more local location, and the zooming tip does surface the second business for the desired keyword, it's likely Possum at play.

Greetings Christy
Thanks for your reply.#. Yes, I'm talking about Local Search Results.
If I search first set of keywords in Google.com then First Business Law Office of Paul M. Marriett (Business Name) showing in local search result and Second BusinessLaw Office Of Brendan Caver, Ltd. (Business Name) is not appear anywhere in search result.
Same way, If I search second set of keywords then Second business is showing in local search result and first business is not appear anywhere in local search.
Please find the image on given URL.

Hi jeenu_svs,
I'm not sure what your question is, to be honest. Are you asking why site #2 does not appear in search results at all when site #1 ranks high for the first set of keywords (and vice versa)? Is your concern limited to non-personalized local search results?
Thanks in advance for clarifying your question!
Christy

Issue for ranking Keywords.
Hello Team, First of all, this is the best tool for SEO experts, it tells all the criteria like ctr, priority, and also difficulty, for keyword research I will give you 10/10, but my issue is this. When I put my site URL https://topbestwatersoftener.com/ to Moz, then this shows me no ranking keyword, but I have 2 my keywords in the top 100. The other tools like Ubbersuggest show me these two. Kindly tell me why? its about crawling speed?

Not Showing Up On Local?
Hello, I purchased Moz Local for our fitness and performance company, BIM Fitness & Performance, about 6 weeks ago. Compared to the other people in our area, we have the highest DA. We show up 2nd in search but are not showing up on the "map pack" for local. That said, can someone please help me pinpoint why this may be? We've selected several categories that are relevant to search and we can't seem to understand why.

Should Every GMB Page Have it's own email address?
Just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Google. I created dozens of GMB pages for clients using my email address. Now I am discovering that this is not the right way of doing this. Each business owner should create a GMB account with her own email address. Then I can be added as a manager of that GMB account. Question:
Reviews and Ratings | | aj613
Now that I have dozens of GMB accounts under my email account, is it worth it to create a new email address for each client and associate it with the new email address? I think the best thing would be to have each client do it herself, but I'm not sure it's worth the headache of walking each one through it. What do you think?0 -
Client wants to delete Google My Business Due to Bad Review
My client has received a bad review on Google and although has other good ones, wants to delete the current Google My Business page and open a new one. I disagree with this strategy but need some evidence to back it up. They are ranking well and so I don't want to upset the cart. I need reasons not to in terms of potentially harming rankings. Am I right that this could impact?

Different results & page layout in Google local for plurals?
I realize that the general results websites can rank differently for singular vs plural keywords, but today when checking local rankings for a client, I noticed that not only does the client rank differently for "church in San Diego" vs "churches in San Diego" but the layout and info of the local results pages are different. "Church in San Diego" (screenshot) shows the phone number and has links for Website and Directions "Churches in San Diego" (screenshot) doesn't show any of that instead has an image. If you click on the image, it brings up a card almost like a popup with info, reviews, and links for the organization. Anyone ever noticed that before? Anyone know why the difference? And if there are different optimization strategies?

Google crawling item page reviews
Hi Moz community, I've been trying to do some on-site work and noticed that our product pages reviews may not be totally optimized. It used to be that all of the text from the reviews appeared in the actual code of the page, but now none of that text appears, so it may not be getting crawled. The change was most likely released when we had an item page redesign. However, when I Google a review snippet, it does seem to come up, so maybe Google is crawling that data despite it not being SEO optimized. Is this really an issue if the review snippets are showing up in search, there's been a lot of talk that Google is now better at crawling javascript. Thanks

Why does this business have an average of 4.8 and not 5?
I was doing some research today and came across a business that has 5 reviews, all 5 stars. For some reason, their average is showing as 4.8, instead of a perfect 5. Looking at some other businesses, I see one with 4 5-stars, 1 4-star, and 1 1-star. 25/6 = 4.1666666. That would round to 4.2, but Google lists them as 4.3. Is Google just bad at math, or are they using some other factor in calculating these averages?

Duplicate Google Plus Business Listings
Hi everyone, We have a client with duplicate Google Plus pages for two of their locations. The ones that are showing in search results for the most part are the ones we control, but we'd still like to report or delete the duplicates (which we do not control from our existing accounts). I used to notice the option to report a page as duplicate but no longer see that...any advice? Thanks!
