Images are Blocked Resources in webmasters. Anything wrong?
-
Hi all,
The images in our sub directory are hosted from a sub domain. This sub domain is blocked to robots. So, I can see all these images are shown as "Blocked Resources" in webmasters. Is anything wrong with this? If so, we also usually block robots to image files location in our website. What's the difference?
Thanks

You can block an entire subdomain via robots.txt, however you'll need to create a robots.txt file and place it in the root of the subdomain, then add the code to direct the bots to stay away from the entire subdomain's content.

Using WebP Image Alongside Existing Images
Is it worthwhile to add in WebP images alongside existing images? WebP Images can be three times smaller than PNGs and 25% smaller than JPGs, according to a plugin option I am looking at. The alternative WebP images are provided via CDN. Does anyone have any experience with this, and is it worth doing?

How to find out that none of the images on my site violates copyrights? Is there any tool that can do this without having to check manually image by image?
We plan to add several thousand images to our site and we outsourced the image search to some freelancers who had instructions to just use royalty free pictures. Is there any easy and quick way to check that in fact none of these images violates copyrights without having to check image by image? In case there are violations we are unaware of, do you think we need to be concerned about a risk of receiving Takedown Notices (DMCA) before owner giving us notification for giving us opportunity to remove the photo?

Joomla! Site Returning 12000+ Duplicate Content Errors! W Image
(I do award "Good Answer" and "thumbs up" to responses as earned) I have tried to ask this question previously (maybe not correctly). I have a client that I am doing the on and offsite optimization and the MOZ report is kicking back major errors. I have examples below. They all seem to relate directly to rokecwid and ECWID. Is there ANY solution to fix this? Is this hurting the rankings Since I didn't build the site, I am having to tell the website company what to do when I need changes made to code, etc... I am also not very proficient with Joomla! and my web engineer is one of those closet coders (the best kind to have) and doesn't communicate in a way that a "layman" could understand. He pointed out several issues with the HTML but I don't think that is related to this below. Can anyone tell me what to tell the web company that built this site to get rid of these errors? A very small sample of the urls w errors:

Nofollow links to resources used to save bandwidth?
I have a site on volusion, www.ecowindchimes.com. Until recently I was doing fairly well (top 3 for keyword(s) for 6 years) in serps. I was hit by the an update around july of last year, and did a full page redesign in november. My site has been losing ranking for its main keyword "wind chimes".

One change I noticed is that no-follow was removed (when the designers added a lightbox popup for the sound) from the many many links I have for my sound files of the wind chimes (I house them on a separate server to save bandwidth, which is expensive at volusion). The webaddress the sound-files are on doesn't even have a page... it is just there for the files. (there are ~100 files linked to on almost every page of the site where a product listing shows). Should I go through and no-follow all of these links again? Is that hurting me?
I suspect it is, but it is a lot of work for nothing if that is not the problem.0 -

Negative Margins - Image Navigation
I created a good navigation but can't replicate it with html or css so I might have to stick to images. What would you recommend as a best practice for images in navigation? This site doesn't need to rank really high, it's mostly for a portfolio.

Image Maps vs. Normal Images
Hey Mozzer's, quick question: Does anyone out there have any opinions / research on whether the use of image maps is an effective way of linking to other pages on a site as opposed to using seperate images? Does Google read alternate text from an image map in the same way as a regular image?
