Blog On Company Website
-
I have a huge blog which is connected to a company website. This blog is full with dead links and spam comments. Is it worth to clean up?
The website itself ranks very well in search engines. I'm amazed with all de spam that it still ranks. Do you think by removing all de dead links and spam the site will improve ranking in search results?

@bill369 Cleaning up dead links and spam comments from your blog can have several benefits, both for the user experience and for your website's search engine ranking.
-
Improved User Experience: Removing dead links and spam comments enhances the overall user experience of your blog. Users are more likely to trust and engage with your content if they don't encounter broken links or irrelevant comments. A cleaner and more professional blog can lead to increased reader satisfaction and retention.
-
Enhanced Credibility: A blog free from dead links and spam comments appears more credible and authoritative to both users and search engines. Visitors are more likely to trust the information provided on your blog, which can lead to higher levels of engagement and conversion.
-
Better SEO Performance: Search engines consider various factors when determining the ranking of a website in search results. While spam comments and dead links may not directly impact your website's ranking, they can indirectly affect factors such as user engagement, dwell time, and bounce rate. By cleaning up your blog and providing a better user experience, you may see improvements in these metrics, which can positively impact your search engine ranking over time.
-
Prevention of Penalties: In some cases, search engines may penalize websites with a high volume of spam comments or excessive broken links. By proactively removing these elements from your blog, you can avoid potential penalties and maintain or improve your website's search engine ranking.
Overall, while cleaning up dead links and spam comments may require time and effort, it can yield significant benefits in terms of user experience, credibility, and search engine visibility. As your website already ranks well in search engines despite the presence of spam, addressing these issues could further enhance its performance and reputation in the long run.

We have improved our company's organic SEO by writing “ever-green content marketing” and building quality links. We did this for a Cardiff fencing business; it's how we got it onto the first page, and that business has been on the first page for a long time. So, we would recommend writing white hat, blog posts, which your businesses customers will find useful to read.

Yes correct the blog is site.com/blog and has high quality content with many high ranking pages and high quality score. I will clean it up and try to maintain it again as the blog has not been looked after for a while and can be a good source for extra traffic.
Many thanks for all comments it really helps!

When you say "connected," you mean the blog lives ON your company site. For instance: your-site.com/blog
I would agree with ILNA and say, without any more information to go off of, it is more than likely worth it to clean up and continue to keep updated with quality and relevant content.

It would be a shame to wast good content, especially if the site has a decent score. However, I would only take the time to clean the site up, if you intend on maintaining the site in the future. If you are using WordPress, there are some plugins that can help you with SPAM and dead links.

What is the best way to deal with creating a separate brand with it's own website when the main site already ranks well for the target keywords?
A client currently has a site that ranks well for a number of queries. They recently created a new site for a spin-off brand/company that they now want to focus on ranking for some of the keywords their original site already ranked for. What would be the best way to go about this without throwing away the existing authority and traffic the original site has for those queries?

Is minor duplicate content on my website okay?
I know duplicate content across multiple websites is not a good thing, however I've always wondered about minor duplicate content on your own website. I know its good practice to have unique content on each page but what about the little stuff. For example on our website certain related pages share the same content in a right sidebar. Such as links to pdf leaflets, or "you can read our blog etc" . Is there a minimum number of repeated words required before its flagged as duplicate content? Another example is a customer gave two testimonials for two of our employees - the testimonials were identical other than the employee names - if these were posted on separate pages is it a problem for the site as a whole or for both those individual pages? Thanks

Moving/deleting blog
I have a website with a blog attached to it. It is a wordpress blog which we have not updated since 2013. However, it has a lot of pages going back to 2010. I am moving my website to weebly so I can't move my blog over. I could recreate all the posts and make redirects to the new url. However, the posts are old and outdated so it doesn't really make sense, aside from seo. I need advice. Would I take an seo hit if i start over with a blog and leave the old posts behind? Thanks!!!

My website ranking recently dropping - why?
Hi all, I am a photographer and do my own website and links etc. Website is: http://www.mckayphotography.com.au I have enjoyed good google rankings for my main keyword 'wedding photography sydney' for many years, and even recovered after taking a hit from the penguin (may 2012) update. But the last month has seen a steady drop from around 2nd - 4th down to now 10th. I have analyzed my site using all the moz tools and on most counts eg moz rank and moz trust I am ahead of my competitor sites....but still rank under them on google. So I would greatly appreciate on advice people could give on getting my ranking back up again! Thanks in advance Darryn

How do I switch my website to www.mydomain?
I'm having canonical URL problems. I keep trying to set everything to www.mydomain.com, but I'm using wordpress and my site keeps either disappearing completely or giving me an infinite loop error. I've tried changing my main wordpress setting, whether I have canonical URLs turned on, my .htaccess file... Could this be an issue with either my host or my domain registrar? Any ideas how I can fix it?

Website Speed Testing Tools
I have been experimenting with a number of plugins to speed up the loading of my wordpress site and find that website speed testing tools are all over the map when it comes to results. Even the same tool can produce vastly different results. Does anyone have experience with one that is both dependable and consistent?
