Bing & JavaScript?
-
Hi Moz Community,
Are Bing/Yahoo crawlers different from Google’s crawler in terms of how they process client side JavaScript and especially content/data loaded by client side JavaScript?
Thanks,
-
What I can count and have contrasted in my web, is that the Javascript in Google is processed differently. Google crawls javascript and also the url inside, while Bing does not.
I think I'm a bit short to answer your question, but that's what I've checked.

Recovering from Sitemap Issues with Bing
Hi all, I recently took over SEO efforts for a large e-commerce site (I would prefer not to disclose). About a month ago, I began to notice a significant drop in traffic from Bing and uncovered in Bing Webmaster Tools that three different versions of the sitemap were submitted and Bing was crawling all three. I removed the two out of date sitemaps and re-submitted the up to date version. Since then, I have yet to see Bing traffic rebound and the amount of pages indexed by Bing is still dropping daily. During this time there has been no issue with traffic from Google. Currently I have 1.3 million pages indexed by Google while Bing has dropped to 715K (it was at 755K last week and was on par with Google several months ago). I know that no major changes have been made to the site in the past year so I can't point to anything other than the sitemap issue to explain this. If this is indeed the only issue, how long should I expect to wait for Bing to re-index the pages? In the interim I have been manually submitting important pages that aren't currently in the index. Any insights or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/ As far as i understand it the above is how it should be but just posting here to ask if anyone can confirm whether this could be causing any prrobs or not so i can rule it out or not. Pages targeting other more competitive keywords are ranking well and are almost identically optimised so cant think why this one is not ranking. Does fetch and render get Google to re-crawl the page ? so if i do this then press submit to index should know within a few days if still problem or not ? All Best Dan0 -
New pages need to be crawled & indexed
Hi there, When you add pages to a site, do you need to re-generate an XML site map and re-submit to Google/Bing? I see the option in Google Webmaster Tools under the "fetch as Google tool" to submit individual pages for indexing, which I am doing right now. Thanks,

Implementing Cannonical & Alternate tags on a large website
Hi There, Our brochureware website consists of a Desktop site (www.oursite.com)and a Mobile website (m.oursite.com). I know I need to implement the alternate tags on the desktop pages and the cannonical tags on the mobile versions. However we have a huge site is there any dynamic way through javascript to have the code be generated or is it something that should be done manually page by page? Below is sample javascript a colleague completed to attempt to dynamically develop the snippet but I am unsure if bots will be able to interpret it: Alternate version: Thanks in advance Phil

Duplicate Content via a product feed & data
We have uniquely created all of our product content on our website (Titles, product descriptions, images etc). However, we are also a manufacturer of these products and supply to a number of trade customers. These customers often wish to setup their own websites to re-sell these products. In the past we have quite happily given this content in order to assist our customers sell on their sites. Generally we give them a 'data dump' of our web data and images, but reading about duplicate content this will lead to the search engines seeing lots of identical content on these customer sites. Whilst we wish to support our customers we do not want to harm our (and their) site by issuing lots of duplicate content around the web. Is there a way we can help them with the data without penalizing ourselves? The other issue is that we also take this data feed and use it to sell on both Amazon & Googlebase. Will using this identical data also rank as duplicate content as a quick search does show both our website and amazon product page? When creating Amazon listing do these need to vary from the standard website descriptions? Thanks

Iframes & SEO
I've got a client that wants a site with all content in iFrames. They saw another site they liked & asked if we could do it. Of course we can technically. How big a negative hit would they take with SEO? Is there anything we can do to mitigate it, such as redirects, etc? Thanks for the help!
