Right way to delete and update old blog-posts?

Hi all,
Rand Fishkin once tweeted about success story of Quickbooks blog as they deleted their old and outdated content to show only high quality content to their audience. We are planning to implement the same strategy to our blog which consists of 800+ blog-posts. I'm just wondering the best way to proceed on this and planning to follow as below. Please correct me if I'm wrong and if there are any better steps of follow:
Get the list of blog-posts.
- Check the traffic of each blog-post.
- If the blog-post needs to be existed, update any info on the blog.
- If the blog no more needed, do I need to delete or noindex or redirect?
What's the better way to measure the success?

So, what we do at our seo agency, is we don’t tend to delete old blog posts, as there might be links leading to that page or article, try instead improving the page, rewriting the text, writing the text in a white hat way, making the page/ blog post better quality. We done this for business which sells, garden room bars, and we have helped the company to gain many more sales.

If it has traffic from external sources (e.g. referral traffic, organic search traffic) you will want to treat it differently than if it didn't have any traffic. Likewise, if it has external links, you'll obviously want to make sure you redirect the URL.
To Martijn's point, just make sure you do your research here (i.e. content audit) before pruning content from your site. It can be easy to make a mistake and do more harm than good if you're not careful. For example, I've seen situations where an entire section was removed from the site because it didn't have any traffic, but many of those pages had links so when they were removed the site's rankings, as a whole, suffered.
But if you have a bunch of outdated, unlinked, low quality content pages, this could be just what you need to revitalize your site and consolidate ranking factors, such as external and internal links, into fewer pages for more benefit.

I would ask myself the question, what is the additional benefit of updating/removing old content. In the end, don't forget that Quickbooks has an insane high domain authority due to the fact that they've been doing a fair share of stuff for years. I'd say the same strategy wouldn't always work for many other companies. In the end, things are only relevant in your case if it makes sense to update your content.

Is there a way to map your on-page SEO changes with the organic growth?
Hi Mozzers, I was just wondering if there's a way we can map our on-page SEO changes with the increase/decrease in organic traffic. For instance, I introduced brand pages' link the product page breadcrumbs and suddenly organic traffic for my brand pages increase from X to 2X in 1 couple of weeks. Now, this can be because of this breadcrumb change purely or because of some algorithm update or may be, bots started finding the content interesting and hence, started ranking them up (in case the brand pages were launched recently). So, you can't say which change should be mapped to what increase/decrease in organic traffic. Or, is there a way to map this?

Main Website Redirects to Mobile Website, Mobile Website counts this as direct traffic, is there a way to tell what the source/medium is?
Hello, The situation is that someone is arriving on my main website https://www.example.com and being redirected to http://m.example.com. When this happens my analytics says that the traffic is all direct coming to my mobile site. However, I know people clicking on my google cpc, and some google organic users are hitting the main website and being redirected. Before we didn't have as good of a redirect on our main website so I could tell organic and cpc traffic coming in, now my main website has a huge drop in these categories because they are redirecting to mobile but I can't tell on my mobile how much traffic from each is going to the mobile site. Is there a way to fix this? Is it because my main website is https:// and mobile is a http:// (as I know that sometimes makes traffic direct) or is it a bigger problem that can't be resolved? Thanks

Looking for a good GA plugin for Wordpress blog
We're looking to install a plugin for our Wordpress blog, to be able to receive analytical data right in our wordpress dashboard. Can anyone suggest a good one that is working well for them? We are looking for one that is either free, or fairly inexpensive. Google Analytics Dashboard for WordPress appears to be a front-runner for us, has anyone had any experience with this plugin? Google Analytics is treating my blog like all the content is just on the home page.
Hello all, I installed Google Analytics on a main website and a blog (blog.travelexinsurance.com) While it appears to be tracking correctly (and when I test it in real time it shows that I'm visiting) but it is treating the entire blog as though it's one page. So I can't see data on blog post X. All I see is that X visitors came to my blog in aggregate. So I see blog.travelex.com has 999 visitors, but it doesn't show that /travel-luggage got 50 visits, while /insurace-tips got 75 and so forth. I assume I screwed up the tracking somehow, but can't figure out where I went wrong. Tracking on the main domain works just fine. It's specific to the blog.

Blog Analytics broke for two weeks. How do I account for these hits in my monthly report?
The Analytics on my blog broke for about two weeks before I realized it. I need to come up with some estimated numbers for total pageviews, referrals, direct hits, etc to add to my monthly SEM report. I took the average of the past four 2 week periods to come up with the number of hits. Should I just add this number to the total hits on my site? Or are these hits being counted twice if they went on to the main site? http://www.howlatthemoon.com
