Google Ignoring region settings on contact pages
-
-
Turns out a lot of regions were not set up in Search console. I've added and directed them to the correct regions now.
Fingers crossed Google will correct itself soon as our results look very messy currently.
Thanks again, Kate
-
Very welcome! Let me know what happens!
-
Hi Kate, yes you're correct, it's our local distributors' that have flagged this issue.
"But in the light of geotargeting, to double check, have you claimed domain.com/fr in Search Console and targeted it at France?"
I think you're on to something. I'm going to check it out and let you know. Thanks again Kate.
-
Who is they? I assume that means you are hearing this from your local distributor in France or customers there?
I can confirm that you have hreflang set up correctly. I've always personally had an issue with setting up HREFLANG when you mean regional geolocation, but the rest of the international SEO field disagrees with me.
But in the light of geotargeting, to double check, have you claimed domain.com/fr in Search Console and targeted it at France?
-
Hi Kate, we believe they are searching for our Brand+Contact.
-
What search term are you using when checking what page is showing for France based contact information?

How to stop google from indexing specific sections of a page?
I'm currently trying to find a way to stop googlebot from indexing specific areas of a page, long ago Yahoo search created this tag class=”robots-nocontent” and I'm trying to see if there is a similar manner for google or if they have adopted the same tag? Any help would be much appreciated.

What is the best way to find missing alt tags on my site (site wide - not page by page)?
I am looking to find all the missing alt tags on my site at once. I have a FF extension that use to do it page by page, but my site is huge and that will take forever. Thanks!!

Can you 301 redirect a page to an already existing/old page ?
If you delete a page (say a sub department/category page on an ecommerce store) should you 301 redirect its url to the nearest equivalent page still on the site or just delete and forget about it ? Generally should you try and 301 redirect any old pages your deleting if you can find suitable page with similar content to redirect to. Wont G consider it weird if you say a page has moved permenantly to such and such an address if that page/address existed before ? I presume its fine since say in the scenario of consolidating departments on your store you want to redirect the department page your going to delete to the existing pages/department you are consolidating old departments products into ?

Should I be concerned? http://trophycentral.com Page Authority: 47 Domain Authority: 42 http://www.trophycentral.com Page Authority: 51 Domain Authority: 42 Thanks!

Page Over-optimized?
I read over this post on the blog tonight: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/lessons-learned-by-an-over-optimizer-14730 & it's got me concerned that I might be having a similar issue on our site? Back in March & April of last year, we ranked fairly well for a number of long tail keywords, here is one in particular 'Mio Drink' for this page: http://www.discountqueens.com/free-mio-drink-from-kraft-facebook-offer The page is still indexed, but appears back on page #3 for the search term. During this time we had made a number of different updates to our site & I can't seem to put an exact finger on what might have caused the problem? Can anyone see any issues that might have caused this to drop? Thanks, BJ
