How Google Carwler Cached Orphan pages and directory?
-
I have website www.test.com
I have made some changes in live website and upload it to "demo" directory (which is recently created) for client approval.
Now, my demo link will be www.test.com/demo/
I am not doing any type of link building or any activity which pass referral link to www.test.com/demo/
Then how Google crawler find it and cached some pages or entire directory?
Thanks

Try putting the URL into Google and see if you find any pages linking to it.
I knew a company that created a test site that was a copy of a live site (made with a specific hosted CMS). Didn't exclude the test site in robots because "we all know we won't link to it so it'll be ok". Site got indexed, and it was because a person at the company was having problems with the implementation of the test site, went to the help forum (which person didn't think would be indexed) and posted the URL to the test site.
I found the above by just putting in the URL of the test site into Google, and I saw the post in the help desk. You might try the same to see if somehow there is a rogue link.

Is google crawling our mails?
Is it possible?
-
Yup, correct.
I was certain I'd replied to this
Anyway, you ever notice how the ads in gmail are always relevant to the content of your emails? Google are totally reading them
-
The <conspiracy hat="">side of things was him commenting that Google is sometimes accused of processing everything in Gmail and could have possibly pulled your link to the demo directory from that.</conspiracy>
-
Hi Barry,
Yes, We were used Gmail for reporting.
Is it make any sense??
-
<conspiracy-hat></conspiracy-hat>
Did either you or your client use gmail when you sent him the demo link?
Regardless, Dan's advice to noindex and block the directory from spiders is the future when doing development work.
-
Hi JoelHit,
NO, There is not any single refferal link to "Demo" directory from entire website and also from third party websites.
I am aware about Google Crawling and Indexing Systems.
Thanks.
-
Hi Thetjo,
I know about it.
My question is that how Google Crawl it without any referral link?
Thanks.
-
Hi Dan,
No, i am not exclude "demo" directory from robots.txt for any search engine.
I am not using wordpress its simple stattic HTML website (Not using any type of CMS).
-
Did this actually happen or are we talking about a hypothetical situation here? It could be that there is a link to the demo directory you've overlooked? Has the /demo folder perhaps been used in the past and there were still old links to it?
As a meta-solution to this problem: prevent crawlers and nosy people from accessing the content by adding a .htpasswd login to the area used for client approval.
-
Did you block the /demo/ directory in your robots.txt file? This is step number one to try and ensure they don't get crawled. Also, are you using wordpress? If so, wordpress automatically pings search engines when you add a post and if you use the common sitemap plugin, when it creates the sitemap it submits it automatically to Google, so that's another way Google could have found it.

Why rankings dropped from 2 page to 8th page and no penalization?
Dear Sirs, a client of mine for more than 7 years used to have his home page (www.egrecia.es) between 1st and 2nd page in the Google Serps and suddenly went down to 8 page. The keyword in question is "Viajes a Grecia". It has a good link profile as we have built links in good newspapers from Spain, and according to Moz it has a 99% on-page optimization for that keyword, why why why ??? What could I do to solve this? PD: It has more than 20 other keywords in 1st position, so why this one went so far down? Thank you in advance !

Last slow to cached pages?
Hi Guys, A lot of our pages we updated with new category based content on our e-commerce site I noticed haven't been cached for a while like This is Google's cache of https://www.domain.com/makeup/eyes/mascara. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on 15 Jun 2017 11:37:52 GMT. Does this mean that google hasn't reviewed this page yet? Could this be due to poor internally linking or something? Cheers.

Why isn't Google caching our pages?
Hi everyone, We have a new content marketing site that allows anyone to publish checklists. Each checklist is being indexed by Google, but Google is not storing a cached version of any of our checklists. Here's an example:

How do we decide which pages to index/de-index? Help for a 250k page site
At Siftery (siftery.com) we have about 250k pages, most of them reflected in our sitemap. Though after submitting a sitemap we started seeing an increase in the number of pages Google indexed, in the past few weeks progress has slowed to a crawl at about 80k pages, and in fact has been coming down very marginally. Due to the nature of the site, a lot of the pages on the site likely look very similar to search engines. We've also broken down our sitemap into an index, so we know that most of the indexation problems are coming from a particular type of page (company profiles). Given these facts below, what do you recommend we do? Should we de-index all of the pages that are not being picked up by the Google index (and are therefore likely seen as low quality)? There seems to be a school of thought that de-indexing "thin" pages improves the ranking potential of the indexed pages. We have plans for enriching and differentiating the pages that are being picked up as thin (Moz itself picks them up as 'duplicate' pages even though they're not. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences!

Cached Alternate URL appearing as base page
Hi there, I'm currently targeting Australia and the US for one of my web-pages. One of my web-pages begin with a subdomain (au.site.com) and the other one is just the root domain (site.com). After searching the website on Australian Google and checking the description and title, it keeps the US ones (i.e. root domain) and after checking the cached copy, it was cached earlier today but it is displayed exactly as the American website when it is supposed to be the Australian one? In the url for the caching it appears as au.site.com while displaying the American page's content. Any ideas why? Thanks, Oliver

Google+ Page Question
Just started some work for a new client, I created a Google+ page and a connected YouTube page, then proceeded to claim a listing for them on google places for business which automatically created another Google+ page for the business listing. What do I do in this situation? Do I delete the YouTube page and Google+ page that I originally made and then recreate them using the Google+ page that was automatically created or do I just keep both pages going? If the latter is the case, do I use the same information to populate both pages and post the same content to both pages? That doesn't seem like it would be efficient or the right way to go about handling this but I could be wrong.

Is it OK to Delete a Page and Move Content to a Another Page without 301 re-direct
I have a page "A" that I want to completely delete and move the written content from A" to page "B". Since I am deleting "A" (not keeping page) is it OK to upload the content from "A" to page "B" and search engines will give "B" credit for the unique content? Or, since the content has already once been indexed on "A", "B" may struggle to get full credit for this new unique content, even though page "A" is deleted?

Will Google bots crawl tablet optimized pages of our site?
We are in the process of creating a tablet experience for a portion of our site. We haven’t yet decided if we will use a one URL structure for pages that will have a tablet experience or if we will create separate URLs that can only be access by tablet users. Either way, will the tablet versions of these pages/URLs be crawled by Google bots?
