Does redirecting from a "bad" domain "infect" the new domain?

So a complicated question that requires a little background.
I bought unseenjapan.com to serve as a legitimate news site about a year ago. Social media and content growth has been good. Unfortunately, one thing I didn't realize when I bought this domain was that it used to be a porn site.
I've managed to muck out some of the damage already - primarily, I got major vendors like Macafee and OpenDNS to remove the "porn" categorization, which has unblocked the site at most schools & locations w/ public wifi. The sticky bit, however, is Google. Google has the domain filtered under SafeSearch, which means we're losing - and will continue to lose - a ton of organic traffic.
I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this, and appeal the decision. Unfortunately, Google's Reconsideration Request form currently doesn't work unless your site has an existing manual action against it (mine does not). I've also heard such requests, even if I did figure out how to make them, often just get ignored for months on end.
Now, I have a back up plan. I've registered unseen-japan.com, and I could just move my domain over to the new domain if I can't get this issue resolved. It would allow me to be on a domain with a clean history while not having to change my brand. But if I do that, and I set up 301 redirects from the former domain, will it simply cause the new domain to be perceived as an "adult" domain by Google? I.e., will the former URL's bad reputation carry over to the new one?
I haven't made a decision one way or the other yet, so any insights are appreciated.

Yes, the same thing happened with my new domain. after that, I am unable to take it back. Bank Branches made me out.

On the potential good news side, I got someone from Google engaged in finding out how to perform a reconsideration request, given that the current method is broken. Hopefully this pans out.

To be honest that's exactly right. In actuality you aren't ban evading, because you aren't that site and it no longer lives on that domain. But if Google's algorithms are unaware of that, more issues could arise

Thanks for that detailed response. That all makes sense. It sounds like my best path forward is to continue to work to build legitimate links from legitimate sources, continue to try and contact Google for a reconsideration, and avoid taking any drastic action that might be interpreted as skirting the rules.

There is a risk of the new domain being infected with the prior domain's negative equity. Basically if you put exactly the same site up as before with the same content and the domain-name is very similar, Google will assume it's the same site. For a lot of people that can be a good thing (preserving their SEO authority) but if you have negative equity it could be a very bad thing
If Google has mislabeled your site, that's what they believe your site is. Since they believe your site IS a porn site, their algorithms will probably see the new domain (with the same site on it) and interpret that as, hey this porn-site owner is trying to evade our listing bans. Ban evaders are bad, slap it back on!
Since you're already at a point where the algorithm(s) have failed you, I wouldn't anticipate them to randomly be more generous in the future. You might get lucky, but you might find the issue does creep across
The good news I guess is that usually, web-hosting and domain purchases aren't bank-breakingly expensive. As such it's worth a try I suppose. Just don't be shocked if it does well for a few days, and then suddenly declines again
I know that content similarity matters a lot for positive redirects (e.g: if you want to move SEO authority from one page to another, you'd better be sure that the content is very similar - otherwise it has little to no effect even with 301s). Does this also hold true for negative redirects? I'm not certain but I would suspect that the same logic would be at play. In this situation though, since it's exactly the same site and content it could work against you and let the negativity flow through
Maybe you could create 302 redirects instead of 301 redirects (keeps the authority, in this case negative, on the redirecting URL - not the redirect destination). Maybe you could also exempt the Googlebot user-agent from the redirects so that it doesn't see them at all
That would be some stuff I would try, but I wouldn't be amazed if Google got really cross with you for SERP ban-evasion behavior. If you could possibly re-brand slightly and re-write a load of the content that might help significantly. It's a lot of money though when in reality, it's a 50/50 gambit

Redirection of 100 domain to Main domain affects SEO?
Hi guys, An email software vendor managed by a different area of my company redirected 100 domains used for unsolicited email campaigns to my main domain. These domains are very likely to get blacklisted at some point. My SEO tool now is showing me all those domains as "linking" to my main site as do-follow links. The vendor states that this will not affect my main domain/website in any way. I'm highly concerned. I would appreciate your professional opinion about this. Thanks!!

Using hreflang="en" instead of hreflang="en-gb"
Hello, I have a question in regard to international SEO and the hreflang meta tag. We are currently a B2B business in the UK. Our major market is England with some exceptions of sales internationally. We are wanting to increase our ranking into other english speaking countries and regions such as Ireland and the Channel Islands. My research has found regional google search engines for Ireland (google.ie), Jersey (google.je) and Guernsey (google.gg). Now, all the regions have English as one their main language and here is my questions. Because I use hreflang=“en-gb” as my site language, am I regional excluding these countries and islands? If I used hreflang=“en” would it include these english speaking regions and possible increase the ranking on these the regional search engines? Thank you,

Rel="self" and what to do with it?
Hey there Mozzers, Another question about a forum issue I encountered. When a forum thread has more than just one page as we all know the best course of action is to use rel="next" rel="prev" or rel="previous" But my forum automatically creates another line in the header called Rel="self" What that does is simple. Unique domains vs. single domain for UGC sites?
Working on a client project - a UGC community that has a DTC model as well as a white label model. Is it categorically better to have them all under the same domain? Trying to figure which is better: XXX,XXX pages on one site vs. A smaller XXX,XXX pages on one site and XX,XXX pages on 10-20 other sites all pointing to the primary site. The thinking on the second was that those domains would likely achieve high DA as well as the primary, and would passing their value to the primary. Thoughts? Any other considerations we should be thinking about?

Can too many "noindex" pages compared to "index" pages be a problem?
Hello, I have a question for you: our website virtualsheetmusic.com includes thousands of product pages, and due to Panda penalties in the past, we have no-indexed most of the product pages hoping in a sort of recovery (not yet seen though!). So, currently we have about 4,000 "index" page compared to about 80,000 "noindex" pages. Now, we plan to add additional 100,000 new product pages from a new publisher to offer our customers more music choice, and these new pages will still be marked as "noindex, follow". At the end of the integration process, we will end up having something like 180,000 "noindex, follow" pages compared to about 4,000 "index, follow" pages. Here is my question: can this huge discrepancy between 180,000 "noindex" pages and 4,000 "index" pages be a problem? Can this kind of scenario have or cause any negative effect on our current natural SEs profile? or is this something that doesn't actually matter? Any thoughts on this issue are very welcome. Splitting one Website into 2 Different New Websites with 301 redirects, help?
Here's the deal. My website stbands.com does fairly well. The only issue it is facing a long term branding crisis. It sells custom products and sporting goods. We decided that we want to make a sporting goods website for the retail stuff and then a custom site only focusing on the custom stuff. One website transformed and broken into 2 new ones, with two new brand names. The way we are thinking about doing this is doing a lot of 301 redirects, but what do we do with the homepage (stbands.com) and what is the best practice to make sure we don't lose traffic to the categories, etc.? Which new website do we 301 the homepage to? It's rough because for some keywords we rank 3 or 4 times on the first page. Scary times, but something must be done for the long term. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. We are set for a busy next few months 🙂

Is it ok to use both 301 redirect and rel="canonical' at the same time?
Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I just wasn't able to find a response in previous questions. To fix the problems in our website regarding duplication I have the possibility to set up 301's and, at the same time, modify our CMS so that it automatically sets a rel="canonical" tag for every page that is generated. Would it be a problem to have both methods set up? Is it a problem to have a on a page that is redirecting to another one? Is it advisable to have a rel="canonical" tag on every single page? Buying an existing domain with higher ranks for redirecting
I've recently came across one of my competitors who's looking to sell their domain. Now they currently rank higher than my primary site for a few keywords we are targeting. Would it be wise to buy the domain and do a name server change over to my primary domain? Would it even help boost ranks for the keywords they rank higher for? Or will the link juice be minimal? Any thoughts would be great!
