Benefit of Historical PDF Press Articles for SEO
-
Hello
Is there SEO benefit to keep PDF news articles from 2/3 years ago live on our website? We have a page displaying positive press/pr articles to our visitors. Some of the articles are now from 2009 and I am unsure if these should remain for SEO benefit or should they be taken down or archived?
Are they good content? Are they read by Search Engines? If they are old do the count against us with Search Engines?
Look forward to some advice

Are they good content?
You tell us. Being located in a PDF does not make content good or bad. What do your users think? What does your analytics tell you? Are these pages viewed frequently?
Are they read by Search Engines?
Yes. Search engines can read PDFs.
If they are old do the count against us with Search Engines?
No. If the content is of use to users, then it would not be counted against you in any way. If the content is of no value, then it should be updated or removed.
Example 1 - you have a page or PDF that discusses a relatively timeless topic such as relationships or the 4 C's of diamonds. This content can be helpful 20 years from now.
Example 2 - you have a page or PDF discussing the best graphic cards for your pc. Three years after the page is published it probably has very little value.
If you have content on your site that is not being viewed by users, a change should occur. You can improve the visibility of the content by earning links or promoting the article. You can modify the content to make it more interesting. You can also remove the content. You do not want your crawl budget to be wasted on pages which are not of interest to your readers.

Concerned over a small video snippet autoplaying on my homepage (Negative page load speed = Negative SEO)
I'm looking at embedding a short 20 second autoplay video to show as the background in a Jumbotron (I'm using Bootstrap) right below my navbar. This looks great and works well for branding ect, however I'm concerned the loading speed will be hit after crossing over from a static image (perhaps 300kb) to a video (perhaps 2MB) which could detrimentally hit my SEO (I also can't help but notice not many SEO minded websites have these autoplaying videos - Perhaps for this reason!) Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue? Is there anything I can do to compress the video right now to a similar file size to an image? I've set it up using a media query to not show on mobile/tablets. Sam

If other people copy your content, is really GOOD or BAD for SEO ?
Hi MOZ friends. Last week, when i was following up the backlinks linking to my domain, i detect that a new website from an unknown administrator copies the content of an entire section of my website. The administrator of that webpage did not remove the internal links on the post, so i could find.

My website has a better domain and page authority and we focus every day on create new content, but when we found people that only copy content from another, i feel disappointed. But then I got to thinking that could be good that people copy our content, although they did not quote us. If they do not remove the links either by mistake or on purpose, we receive new backlinks. ¿What do you think about this? ¿Is really good that a website copy our content? If they remove all backlinks, Is risky that Google detects that the content owner is another? ¿What do you do in this cases?1 -
How do you go about sharing and marketing your articles to get exposure?
Hey Guys, So I have heard about this thing called blogger outreach lately, but I was wondering, what was the point of creating good quality content, if the content can no be found? Is there some sort of way that we would need to go about making the content seen? Sorry about the ignorance around this stuff, I'm completely stuck for how to market our content. I have read through the backlink guide by moz I have also read other articles about blogger outreach. Any advice would be great. Is there some sort of approach that anyone else uses that could shed a bit of light for me. Thanks

Outdated Videos and SEO
I was trying to find some helpful resources online on this topic and haven't really found anything substantial. What do people recommend to do with old, outdated videos on sites like YouTube and Vimeo. They show up in search, but some mention outdated products. However, is it best practice to remove everything older and outdated from Youtube, etc. or is it better to have these in your library (quantity over quality). If you add new ones and they get more views, in the long run people will focus on the newer content and probably not watch something 6 years old, but should we be removing them, too? I''m under pressure to remove them and I wanted to do some research before committing. We also started Google Plus after Youtube, so we now have two YouTubes (one empty one attached to our new G+ and one that's been established with a lot of videos - new and old). Would this be a good time to consolidate to one Youtube, migrating only the new stuff to the new YouTube and then slowly start removing the old YouTube channel? Thanks!

PR Web Press Release for Links
I was wondering if submitting press release, such as to PR Web, if the links, on the press release linking back to our site still have any value in today's SEO world? If so, what is the right way to take out the most value of a Press Release.?? Please advise, Morris

Competitors' dummy websites --- What SEO (or other?) strategy is this?
I work for an e-retailer. I've noticed that at least one of our competitors (and, I think, a second as well) has set up a neutral "third party" website that attempts to provide unbiassed information about different manufacturer's products. Of course, their products always win out over the competitor in these comparisons. But this one site (and another whose corporate backer I can't seem to figure out) is keyworded so poorly, and not branded at all. There are very few (if any) links to the corporate sponsor, or links, period. It's definitely not serving to have "Little Brand x" appear next to "Big Brand Y" in search results, either (again, really poorly keyworded). Other SEO seems really minimal. What do you think their strategy is? Is it a dumb waste o' money or something really smart that I'm not picking up on? Your insights most appreciated!

Are press releases still useful?
In light of so many Google changes are press releases with PRWeb or the like still worth using?
