Video Link Bait - Protections, Formats, Methods
-
I wanted to find out if anyone could recommend the best technique for protecting a video on a website. We have been able to secure a private interview with one of the largest manufacturers in this customers industry. Unfortunately the interview was done impromptu with an iphone, but the recording is not too bad. The volume is low, but we will also type out the content of the interview on our blog, right beneath where the video is posted for viewing.
We were hoping to only post this video on our blog, so that people within our industry will link to that page, increasing our link power. But we wanted to make sure that people couldn't steal the video and post it in other places to avoid giving us our link.
What is the best method for accomplishing this?
What video format would be ideal to hopefully accommodate windows, mac, IE, Firefox, Safari, mobile phones, ipads etc.?
Are we on the right track on how to most effectively use this video for our own benefit?
-
Yeah, we have Adobe Premiere CS3. Do you think that would be a better idea? Add a watermark and intro/outro with our website address on it, and then publish it on YouTube, Vimeo, etc in addition to on our blog?
Our would there be more power/benefit to focusing strictly on link generation towards that page?
-
Do you have an editing software, or video graphic software to add a watermark? What about intros and outro's, even if it is just an image?

Linking to my Site so I should Link Back?
I remember hearing a few years ago that it was a good practice to link back to a site that was linking to you. My company's site was referenced and linked to in a news article. The news company has an above average domain authority, which is pretty good for my company's backlink profile. Is it still or was ever a "best practice" to link back to this website/domain? I feel like linking back was a best practice, but when I try to search this, all I get back is backlinking 101 and backlinking articles. Nothing really answering my question straight forward. Thanks for any help.

Cross links between sites
hi, We have several ecommerce sites and we cross linked 3 of them by mistake. We realize that the sites were linked through WMT, We have shut down 2 of the sites about 2 months ago, but WMT still shows the links coming from those 2 sites. how do we make sure that google will see the sites are shut down. Is there a better of way resolving this issue. We are no longer using those sites, so do not need them to be active. whats the best solution to show google that the links are no longer there. Crawler shows that it was able to crawl the site 45 days after it is shut down. thanks nick

Developing a link profile.....
So we are a brand new site looking to establish a link profile of earned links vs. manipulative link building practices and have received some conflicting information. Our goal is to provide users and webmasters of relevant websites with useful content about the areas and topics we cover and let them decide to link to us. We have been advised by some parties that in order to develop a base set of links we should enter our website into directories. Now I understand entering it into some of the main directories such as BOTW and Yahoo etc, but please offer your thoughts on smaller less official directories. Thanks in advance. Scott

Linking to related business?
If your working with a local business, is it a good idea to reach out to similar businesses in other states and ask for a link? Example: I own a paint shop in Minnesota, and I reach out to a paint shop in California to see if we want to link to each others site to help our SEO. Because we aren’t in competition with each other wouldn’t this help us both?

Link Building Advice
Hi Everyone, I have just joined the community and am looking for some help regards Offsite SEO and Link Building. I have done some basic SEO on my website 'Marketing Quotes' Added to web directories (although I am told they do not carry much weight) I have written content and articles around them (on ezine, squidoo etc.) I have written unique content for the site I have done guest posting on blogs Not sure what to do next though for high power links. I did notice a Q&A on contacting webmasters and asking for links (after building a relationship) but wondered if there was anything (offsite wise) that I have missed out? Appreciate any advice. Regards, David

What do you do about links to constantly moving pages?
One of the sites I work for is an employment site, they have a job database and the job pages tend to get links. The problem is that every time one of these jobs is filled, the job page goes away. What should I do to keep the value from these links?
