Keyword Difficulty Conflict
-
Hi Folks,
I was doing reverse reengineering one website today. I put that website in Site Overview and for a specific KW "lesco bill estimator", KW difficulty appeared as 21 in the columns grid but when I clicked on this KW to check other stats like CTR and priority, etc it showed me a different difficulty which was 18. It is quite confusing for me, why there is a difference and which one is correct? For reference, website is "https://lescobillonline.net/" and I've mentioned that Keyword above. If someone answers this questions it could be helpful for others to understand the algo behind this situation or scenario.
Thanks, MOZ Community !
Cheers.
Shannon!

Now, this answer makes sense. Thank you for the technical and detailed answer.
Appreciated !!Thanks!

Hey Shannon!
These results can be different because the SERP Analysis is representative of a live result but the KWBS data would be limited by the 2-week update cadence. So it's a matter of live data (present data) vs data that updates every 2 weeks (past data).
It is noted on the Keyword Explorer tool that it is updated every two weeks.
I hope this information helps!

Do remember these numbers are for approximate guideline use, there's nothing absolute about them. Use the results to give you an idea that one term is more or less competitive than another by a little bit or by a lot.

Thanks for your quick reply, Chris.
Yep, it is ignorable somehow. But I was quite worried about it when it came to a big difference. I took another KW example and it showed me 25 and when I clicked that KW, KD was 35.
It's quite surprising for me.

Shannon,
I can't answer exactly what's going on behind the scenes that causes the two different numbers to get spit out but I can tell you that the difference between 18 and 21 is so little as to be negligible. When you get down to long tail keywords like that, things can get a little wonky, as far as exactness. I wouldn't worry about that, if it were me.

No keywords displayed for site in Keywords by Site or in CSV report. Why?
We have a site that we ran in On-Demand Crawl and Keyword Explorer. On-Demand Crawl revealed some information. However Keyword Explorer did not. We know there are ranking keywords for the site but no such keywords were detected by Moz. However, when we ran Link Explorer, 12 ranking keywords were detected and associated with the site. Why is there a discrepancy between these two reports? Thank you in advance.

Different DA Conflict
I was searching for a keyword in google and I had moz extension installed. The keyword I searched was "lesco bill online" and after searching MOZ extension shows DA and PA for each result in SERP. now I cheeked a site lescobill.net In SERP it was show its DA as 7 but when I open it up and look in explorer it showed DA as 4. Now is the because few backlinks removed from site and MOZ extension haven't picked them up yet ? what could be the reason behind this ? Just wanted to clear my doubt

Why is there difference in keywords of moz and ahrefs
Hello, my welding helmets website Helmet Adviser is about reviews and is causing me confusion. When I check my site keywords in Moz it shows lesser keywords and when I check in ahrefs it shows more. Same is for backlinks. But Moz keywords research is very authentic and i want to rely on it for keywords and backlinks too. Please elaborate for me why is there diff between Moz and ahref, so I can better utilize Moz by understanding what is going on in the background.

No link to Open Site Explorer from Campaigns tracked keywords?
Hi there, The Guide to tracking your keyword rankings in Moz Pro states that "Click on the keyword to analyze it, the URL to be taken to that page in Open Site Explorer or the Optimize link to get a Page Optimization Score with recommendations.". But my URLs all target to the specific page on my site. I figure it would be nice to dive deeper in analysing specific pages, using Open Site Explorer Is just the link with Open Site Explorer broken, or is the Guide out of date? Thanks, Arnout

No data for most of my keywords
Hi, I'm using Keyword Explorer to prioritise keywords. This is really hard as most of my keywords say 'no data' when I import them. How can I get this data please so that the Potential column is more accurate? Thanks

OnPage Grader double counting keywords on responsive site (hidden vs visible)
FYI - it appears that if you have a responsive site that has blocks of text that are duplicated, but Hidden or Visible depending on the screen width, that On-Page Grader will count any keywords in that text twice. I have text shown in one location to Desktop users that needed to be re-located to a different part of the page for Tablet and Phone users to keep the layout nice. And my OP Grader keyword count doesn't match what I saw on the page doing Ctrl-F to find the keywords, unless you count the Hidden text. (not hidden like cloaking or some black hat thing - just not displayed on certain devices) I guess On Page Grader just reads the source code and ignores whether the text is hidden or visible. It would be nice if it read the code as if it was a Desktop device. (suggestion for Moz staff) Does anybody know if Google also ignores device dependent Hidden vs Visible areas???
