In OpenSiteExplorer - how do I find out which in bound links were lost?
-
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.homefinder.com/a!links
The # of inbound root domains is ~3,100 and has remained relatively flat for a while yet we've been acquiring 1000's of new root domains that link to us.
That said, we want to get some clarity on why the count has remained flat. It would be helpful if we could see which domains have stopped linking to us from one OSE index to the next. Is it really the case that we're losing links as fast as we're gaining them or is something else going on?

Exporting data on a regular basis from OSE is necessary to do this; and you need to do the analysis in excel to get the answer. Basically you want to export your links & linking root domains at least once a month or after each linkscape/OSE update.
Then you would put linking root domains from last month in a column and linking root domains from current month in a column. In a third column you would do a comparison match with an excel formula to see which are missing. Here is some help documentation on the excel formula: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/use-excel-to-compare-two-lists-of-data-HA001103915.aspx
Assuming last month domains are in column A and current month domains you could use this formula in column
=ISNA(MATCH(B2,$A$2:$A$10001,0))

Hi HomeFinder,
You could export your data to CSV and then use Excel or an other spreadsheet program to put all OSE updates in a different column and then compare the colomns to see what are the new links and the vanished ones.

Guillaume Voyer.

OSE vs google webmaster link data
Hiya experts, I am trying to understand the OSE. One thing I noticed is that OSE shows 12 linking root domains to our site. However, google webmasters show more than 90(that have kinks to pages on our site). And these are not new links, some of these date back to Apr 2011. Is there something very obvious I am missing here? Thanks for your help. Regards, Raman.

Can't find duplicate page content
Hi all. I'm trying to create a report to list all of my site's duplicate content that SEOmoz says we have. However when I click on the link it just shows me the title and description of the page. I don't know what the other page is that has duplicate content or what the duplicate content is. Where do I find this information? Thanks in advance!

Number of available links limited?
OK, I've been making use of the free LinkScape API (on behalf of a client of mine) and trying to get links (and info on those links) to a specific domain/page/etc. NOTE : I've been using it without any issue in the past, however we are currently facing some weird issues. Let's take this simple query as an example : http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/links/wikipedia.org?SourceCols=4&TargetCols=4&Sort=page_authority&Scope=page_to_domain What this one supposedly does is to get links to "wikipedia.org", right? I'm reading : The Page_to_* scopes will by default return 25 links per source domain if no limit is specified, so you can see domain diversity. Due to space limitations in our API, a general link query for a given page will return at most 25 pages for every unique domain linking to that page. And I'm saying OK, that's fine. The thing is that (instead of the 1000 links I had been getting before), I'm now getting just 25 links. NOT per... "source domain"... but obviously per "target domain" (= wikipedia.org) - or am I missing something? (well, probably wikipedia suddenly has just about 25 links pointed to it... makes sense! 🙂 ) Please, let me know what's going on with the above, simply because getting just 25 links is close to worthless... Thanks a lot, in advance!

How good is Link Assistant Suite? and how good is the SEOmoz API?
Ive gotten many mixed opinions on Link Assistant and its complete suite, I wanted to get some opinions on the matter.. Anyone use these tools? What is the difference between these tools and other tools on the web? Would adding the free SEOmoz API into this software show better results?

Why is the linking root domains count not increasing
For the last month I have been tracking my backlinks thru open site explorer. Over the same period I have gone on a minor link building exercise via social media, some directories as well as writing fresh new content for the site. However, my backlink count has increased in the Rank Tracker tool but my root linking domains have remain at the same level. Is there a lag or is this because some of these site are not in the open site index? To be specific - I have personally setup follow links from sites like tumblr, posterous, stumbleUpon, delicious and other like these. Would really like to understand the limitations so I can take the appropriate action. Thanks

Why doesn't the BBB / Trustlink.org links show up in the Link Analysis?
I am curious why one of my client's main competitors (www.allbayhardwood.com) shows links from the Better Business Bureau and Trustlink.org (associated with BBB) but links from those sources do not show up for his domain (www.sanjosehardwoodfloors.com). He has been a BBB Acredited Business since 12/2010 and on file with them for probably as long as they have had the online version, which seems like plenty of time for the link to have been picked up. BBB has a very nice domain authority and it would be great to see these links show up. (they don't show up in webmaster tools either) Is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance guys and gals! (I know the site has other SEO issues - just getting started on pounding everything out.)
