Find High Ranking Blogs?
-
Ok, after the panda change, everyone is telling to me to ask to be a guest blogger on other people's blogs.
So, how do I find the highest ranking (most popular) blogs in my industry?
I own a real estate brokerage.
Thanks for your help!

Awesome! Thanks Emily!

You can also look at your competitors' (anyone ranking above you for your key terms) backlinks and you may be able to find some good blogs that way.
Alex is correct. The SEOMoz tool bar is a valuable tool. Install it on your browser and you will be able to see the DA and PA of each site you look at. You will also be able to quickly take a look at their backlinks.
Another way to find influential bloggers is on Twitter. (Usually) the more followers a tweeter has the bigger reach their blog has.

Install the SEOmoz toolbar and you'll be able to see the Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) of the sites within your Google results. The higher the better - a DA of 70+ is pretty good, 90+ is wowsers. Alternatively have a look at SEOmoz's www.opensiteexplorer.org to analyse individual blogs - you can see the DA and PA on here too.

Thanks Ryan,
Yes, I can easily find lots of real estate blogs.
But how do you know if they are "high ranking?" Sorry to be so "green" but I'm kinda a beginner here.

I don't mean to sound snarky, but just do a google search for your industry + blog. For example I just did a search for "real estate blog" and found some lists of 'top blogs' plus some high ranking blogs on the industry.
After you find some candidates, explore their site a bit and see if their views of the industry would be a good fit for the type of articles you want to write. Start commenting on their blogs and become a useful contributor that way, then once you're established approach them with an offer to write a guest post.

We had a blog that has been inactive since 2011\. Now since the website is redesigned and we are working on link building, is it advisable to use the old blog content in the new blog?
The content of the old blog belongs to the company, hence no issues of copied content. The options I have are: 1. Use old content as is 2. Re-use old content in more interesting format i.e use info-graphics and the likes 3. Do not use any of the old content. Create new content

Creating your own blog for back linking to your site
Our competitor seems to be linked to a blog that they have created themselves. From an SEO perspective is it worthwhile creating a blog that is related to your particular industry and then only including links back to your site. Also is there any way to upload ,articles etc automatically to the blog to cut down on the people hours involved in updating content?

Am I using my Blog properly? -- Advice Please
Hello... I am just looking for some feedback in regards to the blog on my website. I am using the blog to create unique and fresh content, hoping that it will in turn help my site attract visitors and better rankings... My question is, does each post have to be at least 500 words or is a 300 word post fine? I do put hyperlinks back to the correlating pages on the site inside each of these posts, just wanted some feedback on if everything i write needs to be roughly 500 words..... Here is my blog if you want to take a look at what I've been doing and provide any feedback..... thanks!

Are reputable local directories effective link building resources for high rankings in local search?
I'm working on a local search campaign. Generally, the first thing I do is add the site to all of the local directories that I know of. I'm curious, with penguin updates, whether or not this is still an effective strategy for local search.

How to out rank well with category page for high competitive keyword?
This is really silly question to ask over here! But, I have to drop my mind bubble after long R & D and efforts! Right now, I am working on Patio Umbrellas keyword and want to out rank with following landing page. http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas I have implemented too many ways on this page since January 2012. Right now, my website is in top 20 position with this keyword. I want to achieve top 10 ranking with Patio Umbrellas keyword. Now, I have certain limitation to make changes on web page. This is client requirement. So, I have to drill down more with link building. I have started work on link building on since February 2012 and rank well with keyword. Now, I'm searching for link building way which help me to improve ranking in short time frame. I don't want to do any single activity on this page which is UN-productive for me. If you have any on page inputs so it may help me more. SEOmoz is really big source to search and justify answer but, I want to add expert advice in it. Thanks,

What can I do to increase this page's rank
I have this page that is doing alright for the phrase "skyward sword walkthrough" I used to be ranked number 2 but it has dropped http://legendzelda.net/skyward-sword-walkthrough/ Sites like IGN are huge so I do not blame them for overpassing my rank but zelda informer I feel like I should be outranking at least. I have a fairly good on page ranking grade using the seomoz tool. And the OSE shows I have 11 domains linking - most with some kind of variation to that keyword. And I have actually built out more since then. Most the links are on highly relevant pages. I contacted a lot of gaming sites before this game was released and asked for a link back in exchange for a variety of things (shoutouts mostly - no paid links) The page performed extremely well when Skyward Sword came out and I got hundreds of thousands of hits but as my rank is beginning to drop its a lot less (also can be attributed to hype dying down). But any suggestions or glaring issues would be great. Link building is something I am always doing as well - mostly through guest blogging.

When searching for high quality links, in a niche area such as real estate, does page rank factor into a search or is page / domain authority the most important factor?
After having employed many different methods for finding good link partners I am now finding it more difficult to reach out and identify good quality links for a niche area such as real estate. Does page rank factor into the search much or is it better to focus on page / domain authority as a major factor?

Free link on a Paid Link Blog
Hi there, I have been doing some outreaching, and managed to have a blog post accepted on a authority blog. They included links to my website, and I was very pleased with the placement. However, having browsed through the site, I was worried to see that they openly admit they allow 'reviews' of websites, with backlinks included, for $50 per review. I am worried I might be penalised without actually doing anything wrong. I did not pay for my link, but the link has been placed on a site which openly admits they accept payment for links. Should I be worried? Should I ask them to take it down? To date I have been told countless times by bloggers I am outreaching that if I pay $10, $50, $100 etc I can write a blog post. I have never accepted because of the risk of penalization. Now, unwittingly, I am linked to from a paid link site with a blog post that would look like I have paid for it because of the placement and style of back link. What do you think? Thanks,
