Good afternoon! I would like to know, what could be the reasons for a random decrease in positions of our online casino? A lot of pages appeared in Google Search at the end of June and after a few weeks most of them dropped to >100, some are still ranging but in TOP 70-85. As far as I'm concerned, there were no algorithm updates last two months, our website works fine, both internal and external optimazation is being performed.. The strangest thing is that the rating of the website is growing, but the positions are not 😞
Here is a link to the project: https://flammcasino.club/
Can anyone suggest what I can do in this case?

Your website's decline in rankings may be attributed to various factors such as algorithm updates, low-quality content, undesirable backlinks, technical issues, heightened competition, mobile usability issues, or outdated SEO practices. It's crucial to evaluate these aspects and implement necessary enhancements to recover your rankings.

Your website's positions may be going down for several reasons. These could include changes in Google's algorithm, increased competition, technical issues, or a drop in the quality of your content. To address this, regularly update and improve your website's content, ensure it's mobile-friendly, and optimize for speed. Conduct a technical audit to fix any issues that might be affecting rankings. Monitor your backlinks to ensure they're of high quality and relevant. Keep up with SEO best practices and stay informed about algorithm updates. Consistent effort and adaptation are key to maintaining and improving your search engine rankings.

There are many reasons why you might sudden drop in website traffic. Some of the most common reasons include:

              website traffic

Search engine algorithm updates. Google and other search engines regularly update their algorithms, which can sometimes lead to changes in website rankings and traffic levels. If you notice a sudden drop in traffic after a recent algorithm update, it's worth checking to see if there are any changes you need to make to your website to improve its ranking.

Technical issues. Technical issues, such as broken links, slow page loading times, and server outages, can also lead to a drop in website traffic. If you're experiencing any technical issues, it's important to fix them as soon as possible to minimize the impact on your traffic.

Changes to your website. If you've made any major changes to your website, such as redesigning it or moving to a new domain, it's possible that this could have led to a temporary drop in traffic. This is because it can take some time for search engines to recrawl and index your new website.

Seasonality. Some businesses experience seasonal fluctuations in traffic. For example, an e-commerce store that sells Christmas decorations might see a spike in traffic in December, followed by a drop in traffic in January. If you're experiencing a sudden drop in traffic, it's worth checking to see if this is due to seasonality.

Competition. If your competitors have improved their websites or are running more aggressive marketing campaigns, this could be leading to a drop in your traffic. To stay ahead of the competition, it's important to continuously improve your website and marketing strategy.

There are several reasons why your positions in search engine rankings may be going down:

Algorithm Updates: Search engines like Google frequently update their algorithms, and these updates can have a direct impact on your rankings.

On-Page Issues: Poorly optimized content, missing meta tags, or slow-loading pages can harm your SEO efforts and cause a drop in rankings.

Competitor Growth: If your competitors are actively improving their SEO strategies, it can push your rankings down as they become more competitive.

Technical Problems: Issues like server downtime, broken links, or problems with mobile-friendliness can negatively affect your SEO performance.

Low-Quality Backlinks: Having spammy or irrelevant backlinks can lead to search engine penalties, resulting in a decline in rankings.

Content Quality: Outdated or low-quality content may lose its ranking over time as search engines prioritize valuable and relevant content.

Keyword Competition: Increased competition for your target keywords can make it more challenging to maintain high positions in search results.

Penalty: Violating search engine guidelines can result in ranking penalties, causing a drop in your search engine positions.

User Experience: A poor user experience on your website, including slow page loading times or difficult navigation, can lead to lower rankings.

Changing User Behavior: Shifting user search patterns and preferences can also impact your positions, as search engines adapt to changing user behavior.

To address these issues and improve your rankings, it's essential to regularly update and optimize your website's content, monitor your technical performance, and ensure you adhere to search engine guidelines. Additionally, staying informed about algorithm updates and adapting your SEO strategy accordingly is crucial to maintaining and improving your search engine positions.

Content on your website may be outdated, inaccurate, or no longer be as helpful as it once was. Try to maintain your website current, accurate, and valuable. Google is experiencing issues locating or interpreting your website. The Page Indexing report will reflect this as an increase in indexing errors.

First of all, what measures have been taken recently when it comes to SEO? Has linking been included? It is also worth remembering that there has been a change in Google's algorithm, so it is necessary to wait a while (there have been situations in which sites have returned to their positions after some time).

I Also experienced a significant drop in traffic on my website pdfdownload, going from around 40,000 monthly visitors to just 15,000 visitors a month. This drop coincided with what I believe might have been a Google algorithm update or penalty. While I've tried to maintain best practices for SEO and user experience, this sudden hit has left me perplexed and concerned.

I'm commenting because i am looking for clarity on potential reasons for this drop and steps I can take to recover my website's traffic.

Are there common pitfalls or factors that could lead to such a drastic decline? What strategies should I consider to diagnose the root cause of this issue and regain lost traffic?

I'm open to any insights, recommendations, or experiences that fellow Moz community members might be willing to share.

You're a casino online.. you're probably slamming the net with garbage content from garbage pbns/guest posts?

A lot of casino sites will rocket and then get smacked back to the ground. I'm sorry but content quality from non spamming sites are what you need and with casino... uhhh, good look. That's why I stay away from that niche myself. It can be done but why?

Then on top of that you are always fighting to be at the top and fight the hackers. Been there and done that with other similar niches.

If you can get it to work for you I applaud you and your patience!

Just remember you need to get your content quality, quality networks, then on those pbns/guest posts or whatever you should brand those pages so that they are given some "buffer" room just in case they are still viewed as bad quality links.

On top of that you should be using branding on all your major pages. Or if you can't do that create a page that then links out to inner links that are similar and then brand that page so that it all flows into those posts and they get a push upwards with a bit more trust.

                                Example:

Slots page with all your top keyword posts listed
build out a huge interlinking profile network

Sports betting with all your top keyword posts listed
build out a huge interlinking profile network

                                etc etc..

I would constantly be on the ground creating profiles with good high quality content, maybe dancing around the fact you're a casino. Find other ways to get your links up on these profile sites so the owners and users see it as either something of use, or at least a "shrug" and they move on instead of hitting the report button.

Casinos have a hard time keeping profiles. Make them real, and actually go back to them once in awhile, you'll find that has helped most of the people I've consulted in the past about these tough niches.

Just because I don't want to do it, doesn't mean I'm clueless on crazy niches.

                                Best of luck o_O

There are a few possible reasons why your online casino website's positions may have decreased randomly.

                                        • Increased competition. It's possible that more online casinos have entered the market since your website first appeared in Google Search. This could have led to increased competition for search terms related to online casinos, which could have pushed your website down the rankings.

                                        • Changes to Google's algorithm. Google's algorithm is constantly being updated, and these updates can sometimes cause websites to see their rankings fluctuate. It's possible that one of these updates may have affected your website's ranking.

                                        • Technical problems with your website. If there are any technical problems with your website, such as slow loading times or broken links, this could also affect your ranking. Make sure to regularly check your website for any errors and fix them as soon as possible.

                                        • Changes to your website's content. If you've recently made any changes to your website's content, such as adding new pages or updating existing pages, this could also affect your ranking. Make sure that your website's content is relevant and up-to-date, and that it's optimized for search engines.

If you're not sure what's causing the decrease in your website's rankings, you can use a website analytics tool to track your website's traffic and search engine performance. This can help you to identify any areas where you may need to make improvements.

For more detail analysis please do share the data.

                                        Warm Regards

                                              positions google search

Hello! I have taken a Moz free trial and am really enjoying using this service. But, after implementing the recommended changes by Moz my rankings have really dropped. Is this normal? I was averaging around 17 but now averaging 40. Here is my website if anyone has any ideas of what I might be doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate any help.

                                              Hi there,
Our site has experienced a huge organic traffic drop, specifically from Google. The drop occurred on Feb 19 and I've got no clue why it happened. We have not made any significant changes to the website and it doesn't look like there was an algorithm update last week. We don't have any Google penalties or indexing issues noted, and the drop isn't specific to any particular segment/region/keyword. What am I missing? Any advice or insight is super duper appreciated. Our site is a Wordpress/WooCommerice e-commerce site with a blog and long-standing #1 ranks for keywords related to our main product offering. Screen Shot 2024-02-26 at 3.12.25 PM.png

Losing referrer data on http link that redirects to an https site when on an https site. Is this typical or is something else going on here?

I am trying to resolve a referral data issue. Our client noticed that their referrals from one of their sites to another had dropped to almost nothing from being their top referrer. The referring site SiteA which is an HTTPs site, held a link to SiteB, which is also an HTTPs site, so there should be no loss, however the link to SiteB on SiteA had the HTTP protocol. When we changed the link to the HTTPs protocol, the referrals started flowing in. Is this typical? If the 301 redirect is properly in place for SiteB, why would we lose the referral data?

Conflicting average position data from Google Search Console?

I'm looking at Google Search Console data in Google Analytics, specifically Average Position as given in the Landing Page report, and the same metric broken out by mobile and desktop in the Devices report. In the Landing Page report, I see an aggregated average position that's much higher/worse than an actual average of what is reported for mobile, desktop and tablet traffic under the Device reporting. For example: Mobile: 5 Desktop: 5 Tablet: 5 So the average still should be roughly 5, right? Why would the Landing Page then show an aggregate Average Position of 8? I wouldn't expect to see a precisely same average given that different device types have different proportions that could render differently when the buckets are combined, but this is a huge swing. In fact, the aggregate Average Position as given in the top level Devices report is closer to 5 than to the 8 shown in the Landing Pages report. (These aren't actual numbers, but are illustrative of what I'm seeing, by the way.) Unless I'm missing some vital difference in the way that Average Position is reporting for the Landing Page report versus the Device reports, it doesn't seem like this should be possible. What am I missing?

New GSC Search Analytics report: position mixes web and image

Dear all, I am auditing a site in Google Seach Console (GSC, formerly Google Webmaster Tools) and find the Position data in the new Search Analytics report very, very improbable. I suspect that even if you filter by "SearchType = web", the Position data does count the ranking of images in the Image search widget as a search position. Has anybody observed this as well? Here is the case: the site targets a quite broad search query in the bath room domain. I have made a number of searches with private browser sessions, different browsers, alternative IP address via a VPN, etc, and the look of the search result in the relevant geographical market is consistently the following. Three Adwords ads #1 organic result Images universal results widget #2-10 organic results The site’s first page ranks consistently around #15 of the organic results, hence on the second SERP. But it also consistently has an image in the Images universal results widget (usually #2 or #3). This is consistent with the data I have in Moz Analytics. Yet, the GSC Search Analytics report shows 2.2 as average position with the default SearchType=Web setting. I have done the search over and over, and never has a PAGE of the site ranked that high. Is there any public information how exactly the position is calculated? I mean, something more precise than the very general information on https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6155685?hl=en Is there any way to get the correct position/ranking? Thanks for sharing your experience!

                                              Google Analytics - Average Position

Hi Just trying to get some clarity on Google Analytics Average Positions in "Aquistions/Search Engine Optimisation". For a very competitive keyword Google Analytics is saying i am on average position of 6.  Is this Page 6?  I am assuming position six would be 1.6?

Google Search Console - Why is my average mobile position better than my average desktop position?

I'm wondering why my average mobile position is much better than my average desktop position. I'm wondering if Google is comparing the same queries for both mobile vs desktop or if they're only showing me the top ranked for each type of search. Is it example 1 or 2? Example 1: Desktop may have 5,000 ranking queries that average to 21.6
Mobile may have 1,500 ranking queries that average to 8.5 OR Example 2: example.com has 5,000 total ranking keywords, those queries' average ranking in a desktop search 21.6 and mobile search 8.5. I'm curious to know exactly what I'm seeing in Google's Search Console. https://08875344305734164866.googlegroups.com/attach/777ae98664ed418f/Mobile%20VS%20Desktop.png?part=0.1&view=1&vt=ANaJVrEHOjRLlPH43i00NnC8PxaG3ct7bsHum_TWnUoa7xVamCpRp8jrvRQJL-gz4n7Q0otqKcKxcAJA5z1VySs2naQU_Zy5tDps6bJhUSZsLRQq4uU-tJQ

Why did my site go from 1,000 Impressions to 0 impressions over the past couple days

so we have been doing a lot of reconstruction our website the past couple days with our navigation and moving stuff around. Now bare with me because i am a noob to SEO and i am still learning. But we went from a steady 800-1000 impressions everyday to a 0 since the first. you can check out our site here: www.hidguy.net Not sure if its because we are moving stuff around or what. But we can notice that our conversion rate has dropped and we have had traffic but no conversions and no orders. Is what we are doing bad or is this normal?
