SEO Link building / Article Distributation
-
Quick question in regards to link building and OFF PAGE SEO...
Why isn't Articles distributation via wire services considered a "Duplicate Content" issue by Google?
i.e. If take the one article and post it accross 50 (do follow) websites, Press release sites, and blogs.
I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this.
Regard,
Sammy

Hi there,
If you are referring to Press Release information which you submit to online services, they are not an issue for you because they should not be on your site.
The intent of a press release should be to put your product or business in front of journalists etc who are likely to take the information and write a good quality unique article that talks about you.
A press release should be carefully constructed to increase the chance of having it picked up, so if you used the exact same content on your site it would not be likely to inspire visitors to convert. If you want some ideas on how to write releases, do a quick search for "how to write an online press release". Most of the services provide guidelines on their sites too.
As long as the information on your site is unique then any duplicate problem is only an issue for the sites your release is listed on and not for you.

That's a good question. I don't know how any of you other pros out there handle article marketing but I switch it up a little. I use different anchor text for each submission..
I never really thought about it like this. Good question Sammy! I'm interested in seeing what other people here have to say.

How important are author bios to SEO?
I'm trying to understand the importance of author bios to Google and its latest algorithms. Some say author bios affect rankings, but others say that has not been specifically stated by Google — but it does affect the user experience. Anyone have input on this? Thanks!

What is the impact of HTTP/2 on SEO ?
I think it's good for the user experience and speeds up websites, especially if your site has a lot of requests. But i'm not sure if there are other side effects, and if there's an impact on SEO or technical configuration. Most of my websites are built with Wordpress, some with Joomla.

How on earth is a site with ONE LINK ranking so well for a competitive keyword?
Ok, so I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm asking about in my question. The query is 'diy kitchens' in Google UK and the website is kitchens4diy[dot]com - which is ranking in third from my viewing. The thing is, the site has just ONE BACKLINK and has done for a good while. Yet, it's ranking really well. What gives?

Do scraped or borrowed articles with my links still pass page rank?
I wrote some articles for Ezine Articles a few years back and i still see links in the ose to my site that are from these articles that were borrowed from the Ezine Articles bank. Do the links in these articles still count toward my site including link juice and anchor text or does google discount them as duplicate content? I was told that Google counts these links for about 3 weeks and then discounts them as duplicate content so it's like they don't exist. Any truth to this or should i make the articles on my site available for people to copy and paste into their blogs as long as they keep my links intact? Thanks, Ron

Will too many [img no alt-text] links harm a link profile?
Hi everyone. I have a client who has a lot of sponsorships etc and therefore a lot of inbound image links (many of them sitewide). Unfortunately most of these don't have alt text, and [img no alt-text] links now make up over 50% of their link profile. Should I be trying to correct this and requesting updates from the people who are linking? Obviously I wouldn't want loads of keyword stuffed alt texts, but maybe I should request alt texts on the brand name or URL instead. Do you think this would make a significant difference and be worth the time it will take to contact all these webmasters? Thanks in advance.

Any way to tell if a link has been devalued?
I have some listings in lawyer directories some of which have very hig PR , links, traffic, etc. For example, www.nolo.com, I know that Google has more or less recently devalued a lot of directory links. I would assume that a monster site like nolo would not be one of those, but does anyone know any way to tell? Paul

How long does a news article stay on Google's 'News' section on the SERP?
Our site is recognised as a news source for our niche - was just wondering if anyone had any idea how long the news story stays on the front page of the SERP once Google picks it up?
