Editing Google Analytics eCommerce Javascript for Volusion
-
Does anyone know how to edit the ecommerce javascript with Volusion dynamic variables? I thought I did it correctly but none of the information got recorded in GA. It recorded that there was a transaction made but not info on the purchase price, order #, etc. This is the current code I am using:
NOTE: In Volusions customer support center they provided this information:
Where Order-Specific Information is Generated
Order-specific information can be generated by JavaScript on the OrderFinished.asp page within Volusion. On this page, two JavaScript arrays will be initialized that advanced users may need to be aware of. The arrays and their contents are as follow:
Order Array ContentsOrder[0] = Order ID
Order[1] = Unused
Order[2] = Payment Amount
Order[3] = Affiliate Commisionable Value
Order[4] = Sales Tax
Order[5] = Total Shipping Cost
Order[6] = Billing City
Order[7] = Billing State
Order[8] = Billing CountryOrderDetails Array Contents
OrderDetails[X][0] = Order ID
OrderDetails[X][1] = Order Detail ID
OrderDetails[X][2] = Product Code
OrderDetails[X][3] = Product Name
OrderDetails[X][4] = (unused)
OrderDetails[X][5] = Product Price
OrderDetails[X][6] = QuantityNote that in the above example, X refers to a line item number (beginning from zero). Note that there can be multiple Order Details arrays - one for each item contained within an order.
I'm a newbie at Analytics installation and could really use any help.
Thanks!

Thanks Gary! We've been looking everywhere and have tried several codes ourselves. Hoping this will work for our client's site.

Hi Jessica, The URLs below should help you out. http://guerrillo.com/add-google-analytics-volusion-store/ http://traffikco.com/blog/add-ecommerce-and-google-analytics-tracking-to-your-volusion-site/ It is not super technical stuff as long as you know how to copy paste it in my opinion. Best Regards, Gary

Hi Jessica, I work for Volusion and saw your question a couple of weeks ago. I sent you a private message but didn't hear back. There's a couple issues here.
As, Russ said above, you're referencing javascript variables inside single quotes, so the values for these variables are not 'seen'. If you take all references to Order[some digit]' out of the 'single quotes', google analytics should be able to 'see' the appropriate values. For example:
Where you have:
'Order[0]', // order ID - required
Should show like (no single quotes):
Order[0], // order ID - required
You would do this every time you see a reference to Order[some digit] and OrderDetails[x][some digit].
The second issue is a bit more complex. To send information about each product a customer may have ordered, you would need to loop through each set of products in the OrderDetails array. Because of the technical nature of the explanation, it would probably be simplest if you could privately message us your store url so we can make the updates for you.
Or, you could remove the existing google analytics you've implemented (general tracking and ecommerce tracking)...and use the recommended installation from the Volusion knowledge-base.
Hope this is helpful and please don't hesitate to reach out on a private message for more info.
Thank you.

From my first look, you are trying to call Javascript variables inside apostrophes. Should probably look like below, but I am just guessing.
_gaq.push(['_addItem',
OrderDetails[X][0],
OrderDetails[X][2],
OrderDetails[X][3],
'',
OrderDetails[X][5],
OrderDetails[X][6]
]);and the same would go for the other Order data.

Universal Google analytics e-commerce tracking code?
Hi Mozzers, I have never setup a universal google analytics e-commerce tracking code before and my concern is what exactly do I need to add on the cart thank you page? Can someone send me a sample of code I need to be adding? What kind of customization does it require? The more details you can provide the better! Thanks!

Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools Setup for Agencies
Hi, As agencies, what are people finding to be the best practices for allowing multiple members of the agency's team to access client WMT and GA data? Have a generic "analytics@myagency.com" account that's used for the shares, that anyone in the agency can use as needed (limited, of course, not admin). Have the individual person at the company use their company email for the share for each particular client? employee@agency.com. Yet what happens when we need someone else to check the GA or WMT data? Any advice is much appreciated.

Cross domain tracking setup in Google Analytics
I really need help on this, I can't figure it out. I need to track a few subdomains and and couple of seperate domains in one profile in Google Analytics. So I have: www.maindomain.co.uk sub1.maindomain.co.uk sub2.maindomain.co.uk www.anotherdomain.co.uk So the code I have placed on all of these domains is as following: I have then set up seperate profiles which filter out the data by domain. E.g. for sub1.maindomain.co.uk, I have user the fitler: Custom filter > Include > Filter Field = Hostname > Filter Pattern = sub1.maindomain.co.uk For the www.anotherdomain.co.uk, I have used the same filter. Now this all seems to be tracking visits and unique visitors okay, but I always have a very low pageview count, less than visits and sometimes zero. Could anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance mozzers.

Google Analytics Queries
Hi we used a web company who put our analytics under their company name we have left them and set up a new tracking code not associated with them, but we still have access to the data and it is all contained under the same login, is it possible to merge the two tracking codes? so that we have seemless history. Also does anyone know if you can change the primary e-mail address (gmail account) to a corporate email account? Any help would be appreciated as we have researched both and from what we have found we can't merge the data and also we are stuck with the primary email address.

Comparing % Change, Google Analytics
Hey Mozzers, Is there a simple way to compare the "% Change" in traffic when comparing two separate time periods in a single Google Analytics report? When comparing data from two separate time periods, an exported CSV doesn't include the % Change (booo!), and there's no option to sort by % Change within the GA report, essentially forcing you to scroll through all the results to pinpoint the major movers and shakers. I'm not averse to using spreadsheets to sort this data, but I'm thinking that I'd likely need a macro to make this work, something like this. However, none of the macros on that page are working (possibly because they were designed for a previous version of Analytics). All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Tracing Google Analytics 'goal' back to original search phrase
I added Goals to my Google Analytics tracking. It's working; I get visitors who have completed Goals showing up in the reporting. My question is: Is it possible to trace backwards from a completed Goal to the original search phrase a user entered in Google to come to my site (for those who entered from Google.com via organic search result)? I'm trying to answer the question of which search phrases are resulting in completed Goals (as opposed to bouncing off the site or just any behaviour other than completing a Goal). It seems like this should be one of Analytics' default reports -- help identify which search phrases are converting well. It's probably there and I'm just not seeing it... Thanks.
