Hi
Can anyone explain what all the info within the link acquisition tool is all about?

This is what I get back, what do the links mean when I click them? I don't get it?

money hoodies + "submit your website" -
I'm not sure how your site is setup, but from a coding perspective you just change the text in the
text here
tags.
I would definitely use something more keyword specific for your H1 tags, you can then put other less important titles in H2 or H3 tags.
You can always have 2 H1 tags each targeting the different brand/keyword.
-
Cheers and I will post a new thread. Final Q in here though, how do I get the H1 tags onto the things I want? And what are the things I want it on? As we also have a H1 tag on the line...
Designer Boutique - The Best in Quality and Heritage Menswear Should we be using only 1 H1 tag and should it really go on something more keywords specific like Designer Boutique - Official Stockists of Cruyff Trainers, Money Clothing and more? As they are two brands we are targetting?
-
Will - if you've got any more questions regarding your site, I'd probably open up separate threads in the forum and mark this question as answered (if you're happy with my answer to the original question!). You'll probably get more people look at your individual questions then and get a better picture of your site.
It's always good to get different opinions on these matters to make sure you're getting the best information.
-
Your meta description should be about 150-200 chars from a search engine perspective. Take a look at this seomoz article on meta descriptions
http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/meta-description
and this one on content;
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/great-content-for-seo-simpler-than-you-ever-imagined
Regarding the short description, I see no reason why you wouldn't want to mention the brand product and colour again, after all it's providing more information to the user.
For the terms of importance, they're all pretty important factors and you should concentrate on them as a whole rather than looking at each description individually. Page content is key here and you should try and make is as useful as possible from a user perspective whilst maintaining a good scattering of keywords.
Also I noticed that your H1 tags are used to promote a £200 voucher. I would use the H1 tag purely for your keywords.
-
Thanks.
What I do not get is other peoples descriptions seem to be like ours, short, bullets.
What lengh should i be aiming for here.
20 words, 50 words, 100 words?
Do the content of the descriptions look ok or should I be getting more of the brand/product in there? As I notice it is maybe mentioned once in the description along with the clolour, fit etc...
Within the CMS is a short description section, which is basically text that appears below the price when viewing the overall products. See here: http://www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/money-clothing/ , you will see below the prices is 1 sentance, should this include brand/product/colour again?
I struggle to find what is more important, how would you rank the following in terms of importance, this is how I viewed it.
- SEO Page Title
- SEO Description
- Item Title
- Item Long Description
- Item Short Desciption
- SEO Keywords
Cheers

Your meta tags look ok to me, as long as they contain they keywords your seeking with some descriptive content then you're generally ok.
On the flip side, content is a much bigger SEO factor than meta descriptions/keywords. So get your content right and interesting and you should be ok. Remember to make it natural and compelling, so it doesn't look like it's there simply to promote certain keywords.
-
Thanks. The site was badly designed a few years ago and the compnay who designed it charge us for any updates. So for now the independant pages for Money Hoodies etc... would have to wait.
I am going to fill out each brand page with keywords content.
Could you tell me if the Product Description and Meta Description for the following item is ok? http://www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/money-clothing/money-jeans-blue-ape-outline/0/
Am I going in the right direction? Meta Title, Meta Description, Procut Title and Product Descriptions all look ok to you? If not what advice would you give?
Same goes for my Money Clothing page: http://www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/money-clothing/
Thanks for your help.

As long as the place you are linking from is relevant (i.e. fashion), you can create whatever content and links around your site that you want, because it's always going to be relevant.
If you're looking to promote with keywords for 'Money Hoodies' I would personally direct the customer to the place you think they would be most interested in, so in your example I'd probably direct them to the tops page as it seems most relevant to the keywords.
If you can I would also add some blurb relevant to the keywords on the landing page as well. Maybe you can add a bit more promotional text around 'money hoodies' at the top of the page, just so the keywords are included a few times.
Alternatively you could create a page focussed around 'money hoodies'. Describing what they are, how great they are and why you are the stockist of choice for them. Then you could have links to product pages. This would then create a page optimised for your keywords and relevant to the linking source.
-
Thanks Shelley, great help.
If I am targeting specific brands, and I am finding sites to submit to under the general terms of mens hoodies, designer jackets etc... is it best to submit and actual product to these pages or should I use like my Money Clothing page, or my Armani Jackets pages?
My site allows you to select the brand or the product type. So do I go with the brand link of www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/money-clothing/ or do I go for www.designerboutique-online.com/tops/money-clothing/
One will give you all Money products, the latter will give you all Money tops including t-shirts, hoodies, jumpers etc... It is not possible to get just a Money Hoodies link unless I use a specific item, which I do not want to do because one we stop selling it, the link will become redundant will it not?
Thanks

Jesse,
The link to http://www.libanonchat.org/ won't even load for me. That's never a good sign to start with!
Although it appears to have reasonably good moz rankings, it's hard to tell whether google would see the directory as good in their eyes. There's a good chance they may have penalised the directory or downgraded it, but without being able to see it, it's even harder to tell.
Generally, if it looks spammy and it's not relevant to the subject, then you should avoid it. This site looks foreign judging by the links coming in and so it's relevancy for this topic is probably called into question, after all the site is aimed the the UK market.
If you're looking for directories, then there are some credible ones about, but they are normally few and far in between and usually human edited to a good standard;
yahoo directory
best of the web
the above two are good examples.
-
Oh - you can probably think of a better competitor than asos.com - That's all I could think of at the time!
-
Will,
These are the terms I entered into the link acquisition assistant for your site;
Your Site: httpwww.designerboutique-online.comYour Brand Name: Designer BoutiqueCompetitor 1: www.asos.comCompetitor 2:Keyword 1: HoodiesKeyword 2: Designer HoodiesKeyword 3: Designer JeansKeyword 4: Designer TrainersTopic: ClothingIndustry: FashionCity: Liverpool
Your search terms of 'money hoodies', although they are the keywords you're targetting were maybe was too specific to find anything. There may not be many sites on the web that are focussed around your brand name of 'money' and 'hoodies' to return much relevance.
The search criteria above (or something similar such as 'mens designer trainers' may give you some better links to go for, whilst still being relevant to your area.
-
I've been using this tool and its helping me get some link prospects. I clicked on the link ---->money hoodies + "submit url"
This brought me to a page of search results which amazingly enough this very Q+A thread ranked #1 for!
#2 was the following URL: http://www.libanonchat.org/seo/info/341.html
Libanonchat.org has a domain authority of 60. http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.libanonchat.org
You'll noticed Luke 1977 sells Money Clothing and has a listing on this page. So you may want to submit your page as well.
Now where I get lost (I'm fairly new to linkbuilding) is whether it is worth to link to this site. The word on the SEOmoz street is that you shouldn't link to too many low quality directories.
Can someone more experienced tell us if Lebanonchat.org is a high or low quality directory? It seems like a 60 DA is very good so this would be a fine directory to submit to. But there is no doubt something I'm missing.
p.s. I think part of your difficulty is that the word "money" ends up bringing you a lot of unrelated results.
Try using the site with: "Mens streetwear" and I think you'll get more usable results.
-
Would I be better searching for longer terms such as Grey Money Hoodies, Black Cruyff Vanenburg Trainers to get more target specific links.
I am struggling to find sites that have a high authority and will actually be relevant to my site(mens clohting).
If you wouldn't mind, would you do a quick search and show me an example of what you would be doing for the products I sell.
website if needed is www.designerboutique-online.com and I am targeting brands Money Clothing, Creative Recreation and Cruyff Trainers.
Cheers
Will

The idea of the link acquisition tool is to simply provide searches that you can use in google to get results that may yield good link opportunites.
If you click on any of the links it will open a google search for the keywords shown.
For example money hoodies + "suggest url" is searching google for sites with the keywords 'money hoodies' but also where there there is an exact match on the site for the text "submit url". This should therefore return sites which are relevant to your keywords but where you can also submit a link.
It's pretty handy tool for finding some quick wins that you may not have thought of, but there are many other search terms you can probably think of yourself that may yield results which are as good if not better.

13 New Quality Back Links But Little Improvement in DA and PA-WHY?
Since September 13 sites have linked to our real estate website. MOZ domain authority of these sites ranks from 45-83. MOZ page authority ranges from 25-36. Six of these links were created in the last 3 weeks. The remainder have been live since Late September/October. Our domain authority has only increased from 18 to 19 since September. Our site has only 805 linking domains. Why has the increase in domain authority been so little? I have read that domain authority it algorithmic and that improving up to 25 is not too difficult. A few notes about the incoming links: -11 of the 13 do not rank for any keywords, 1 ranks for 20 keywords and one ranks for 1 keyword.
Moz Pro | | Kingalan1
-One has 12 inbound links, three have 1 inbound links and the remaining 11 have no inbound links.
-One has 4 linking domains, three have one linking domains and the reaming 11 having no linking domains.
-7 of the 13 are listing in Google Search Console. The remaining 7 are not.
-Only 3 of the 13 are shown as MOZ linking domains to our website.
-Website traffic has increased somewhat since link building began.
-There has was initially some improvement in ranking but that has dropped off. From the metrics above, does anything sound deficient about these links? Is the fact that they are not being picked up by MOZ a negative sign or is it just an indication that MOZ's link index is rather incomplete? How about the fact that the links are not indicated in Google Search Console? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Are there any strategies (Moz-specific or other) on how to improve the Total Links metric against competitors?
In competitive link metrics, our client is doing very well in every metric against every competitor except in Total Links against one competitor in particular. Wondering how to improve this metric against this one competitor. Any strategies, whether MOZ-specific or other that can boost this metric? Thanks.

Crawl Diagnostics - 350 Critical errors? But I used rel-canonical links
Hello Mozzers, We launched a new website on Monday and had our first MOZ crawl on 01/07/15 which came back with 350+ critical errors. The majority of these were for duplicate content. We had a situation like this for each gym class: GLOBAL YOGA CLASS (canonical link / master record) YOGA CLASS BROMLEY YOGA CLASS OXFORD YOGA CLASS GLASGOW etc All of these local Yoga pages had the canonical link deployed. So why is this regarded as an error by MOZ? Should I have added robots NO INDEX instead? Would think help? Very scared our rankings are gonna get effected 😞 Ben

2 canonical links on 1 page, 1 for print version
Our developer has added a 2nd canonoical link for the "print" version of our page. I read on another post that this appears to be not be the correct way to do this. Is there a better way ? Here is an example of the code:

Issue Using MozScape wtih SEOGadet's Link Excel Extension
Howdy Everyone! Since i've seen the MozCon presentation by Richard Baxter at SEOGadget, i've been completely amazed by the links extension for Excel. I tried this morning to give it a try. Unfortunately, I cannot get it working, and was hoping that someone here could help me out. I know it's out of the usual "realm" of questions, but I figure it's worth a try 🙂 I successfully installed the addon and entered my Access id (as "member-xxxxxxxxxx" member is in my id) and the secret key. I then downloaded the "OSE" excel spreadsheet" just to make sure I get all the calls right (as I know the doc works) Once I do this, and enter anything in, I get the "an error occured: the remote server returend an error: 401 unauthorized. I then went into the config file (as the setup doc suggests) and disabled run time caching (or at least set "SEOMOZ_API_use_cache_YN":"N") and the SEOMOZ_API_timeout to 100000 from 60000. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the addin, along with regenerating the MozScape API Key Anyway, i'm not an excel wiz, and would appreciate any help that I could get on this. I'm also about to experiment with SEO Tools For Excel if anywone wants to check that out. Thanks in advance Zach Russell

Why is Followed Linking Root Domains higher than External Followed Links?
Surely there must be at least one external link for each linking root domain? Some results for smaller sites give a higher number of domains linking in than incoming links - e.g. www.forbesandsawyer.co.uk Under Subdomain metrics: External Followed Links - 1 Followed Linking Root Domains - 2 Surely 2 root domains would mean AT LEAST 2 external followed links? Thanks, Andrew

Help with Roger finding phantom links
It Monday and Roger has done another crawl and now I have a couple of issues: I have two pages showing 404->302 or 500 because these links do not exist. I have to fix the 500 but the 404 is trapped correctly. http://www.oznappies.com/nappies.faq & http://www.oznappies.com/store/value-packs/\ The issue is when I do a site scan there is no anchor text that contains these links. So, what I would like to find out is where is Roger finding them. I cannot see any where in the Crawl Report that tells me where the origin of these links is. I also created a blog on Tumblr and now every tag and rss feed entry is producing a duplicate content error in the crawl stats. I cannot see anywhere in Tumblr to fix this issue. Any Ideas?
