Open Site Explorer vs. Linkscape... without mozRank passed how do you measure link value?
-
Hi all,
Since Linkscape was retired we've been struggling without the mozRank passed data for our competitor research. However, I've read that it wasn't a particularly reliable metric to go on so my question is: what makes a link more valuable, in your opinion?
I'm trying to work out the relation between Page Authority / Domain Authority / Number of Links etc., ideally to come up with some form of ranking system where we can say:
Overall link value = ( (A x Page Authority) x (B x Domain Authority) x (C x Number of Links) ) / Number of Linking Domains
or something like that. Is this a good way to go about it? What do you guys look at when using the OSE data?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Page authority and domain authority are worked out using an algorithm based on other metrics including MozRank, MozTrust, number of links, etc.
I tend to use domain authority as a good measure for an entire site when finding links and as it's based on more factors than MozRank alone, I personally find it more useful.

Inbound links not showing in reports
My clients site so far only has a few inbound links. If I do a report on MOZ/Open Site Explorer it only lists 10 domains linking in and, a number of important ones are not on that list. As an example, one of the leading UK national newspapers (Daily Telegraph) has a link on this page to the client www.vidavida.co.uk and yet this link/domain does not appear in the above reports. Is this an intentional nofollow type thing that the telegraph does and is there a way for me to check that on their site/page? http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG8655068/Holiday-travel-in-style.html Any comments most appreciated. Thanks,

SEOmoz PRO: How to manage a Site with 2 languages on the same domain - without mixing up data?
I want to track a "rootdomain" that has two languages on it, the english version is in a subfolder /en/ 1. http://website.de
Moz Pro | | inlinear
2. http://website.de/en/ I want to manage and track each language-version isolated. So I will setup:
1. http://website.de as campaign DE - german
= as Root Domain
But as there are links to the /en/ Subfolder these data will also be included in all reports. And there is still no option in SEOmoz PRO to exclude folders or even urls.?! This will be bad when wanting a clear report of just one Language Version. 2. http://website.de/en as campaing EN - english
To track as "Subfolder" will not work beacause this option will only consider exactly this subfolder... So is there a way to see data just only for one language Version?0 -
MozRank per Link: Valuable or Worthless?
Since the MozRank and MozTrust metrics are on a logarithmic scale, I'm wondering if it's still valuable to get a general idea of the quality of a site's link profile by calculating: MozRank / Total Links MozTrust / Total Links Would this be useful, or is it always going to be higher for sites with lower MozRank & MozTrust since it's "easier" to achieve the lower values?

How long do old links stay in Open SIte Explorer stats?
Hi, In Open Site Explorer has around 2000 External followed links which would be great if it was true. I think the issue is that before my site wasn't appending slashes to the url so I think it was counting links from http://mydomain/page1 to http://mydomain/page2/ as an external link (could be wrong here). I corrected this a couple of months ago but I still seem to have over 2000 External links. When I look at the linking pages many of them are "sans slash" and have old anchor text in the link. How long does it take of OSE to update these stale links it there any way I can prompt it to take aciton?

Hi I have seen a Tweet and item on the latest news saying that the Linkscape has been updated. I'm still seeing a report generated at the start of May though. What do I need to do to get my grubby hands on the latest data? Chris
