Best Strategy For Multiple Geographic Targets
-
I have a client who operates and gets business from several cities in the same geographic area. Does anyone have suggestions that will allow him to get leads for the same service from multiple cities.
Any help appreciated.
-
With limited specific info at this point I would say no. Again Google ranks web pages not web sites. So just because the home page ranks really well in their actual HQ city doesnt mean that a page for a city a few miles down the road wolnt rank well too. And it wouldnt hurt either. It makes comon sense that a Company providing a specific service a town over could also serve this town. Just build links to the right city pages and you should be good.
-
Would getting local listings for the area they are actually located in affect getting ranked in other cities? Should I avoid doing this?
-
I would just suggest individual pages per city per service (or product).

Best way to absorb discontinued brand/domain?
Our parent company is looking to absorb the domain of a brand we are discontinuing. The domain we want to absorb has a thousands of blog posts from 2010 onward. Much of the content is old but still high-converting. We would like to keep as much of the potential traffic as possible, but we don't want the parent website to become too large or lose credibility with too many 301 redirects. Any advice on the best way to do this?

Best way to deal with 100 product pages
It feels good to be BACK. I miss Moz. I left for a long time but happy to be back! 🙂 My client is a local HVAC company. They sell Lennox system. Lennox provides a tool that we hooked up to that allows visitors to their site to 'see' 120+ different kind of air quality, furnace and AC units. They problem is (I think its a problem) is Google and other crawl tools are seeing these 100+ pages that are not unique, helpful or related to my client. There is a little bit of cookie cutter text and images and specs and that's it. Are these pages potentially hurting my client? I can't imagine they are helping. Best way to deal with these? Thank you! Thank you! Matthew

Can hotlinking images from multiple sites be bad for SEO?
Hi, There's a very similar question already being discussed here, but it deals with hotlinking from a single site that is owned by the same person. I'm interested whether hotlinking images from multiple sites can be bad for SEO. The issue is that one of our bloggers has been hotlinking all the images he uses, sometimes there are 3 or 4 images per blog from different domains. We know that hotlinking is frowned upon, but can it affect us in the SERPs? Thanks, James

Multiple values for a single URL parameter - Is that possible?
I have a website which supports three languages - German, Spanish, Portuguese - by using language parameters. How do I configure my URL parameters so that the only the Spanish and Portuguese URLs are crawled but not the German URLs. Basically, how do i specify two values for a single parameter.

Google Penguin - Target Landing Page
Hello, One of our sites have been hit by the first penguin update back in April and ever since then we have been removing links and submitting reconsideration requests... It only seems to have affected our home page as some of our internal landing pages are still ranking OK in the SERPS #1 / #2. I'm just wondering if we created a landing page for this keyword and drove high quality / relevant links to this landing page could we get it to rank higher than our homepage even though our Homepage is on the 5th page.Hope the above make sense. Has anybody had any joy with this?

http://www.sandersonweatherall.co.uk/office-to-let-leeds/ 1. Ensured the Markup follows SEO best parctice
2. Internally linked to the page via a scrolling footer
3. Shortened the URL
4. Requested the Social media efforts points links to the page
5. Requested additional content But i wonder... Is the reason for hitting a glass ceiling now down to lack of content ie just one page or is there a deeper issue of an indexing road block? Any insights welcome 🙂0 -
What's best hosting option for web design company targeting UK market?
Hi, What would be the best hosting company to go with if I want to promote my site in the UK? Right now it's hostgator and I know I'll have to change it. Should I get something located in the UK (logic would suggest it) and rather dedicated server (very expensive, especially if you're using wordpress) or shared hosting will do? Thanks in advance, JJ

Redirect Multiple Domains
This is a follow-up question from one posted earlier this month. I can't linked to that because it's a private question so I'm trying to summarize it below. We have a number of domains – about 20 - (e.g. www.propertysharp.com) that point to our main domain ip adress (www.propertyshark.com) and share the same content. This is no black-hat strategy whatsoever, the domains were acquired several years ago in order to help people who mistyped the websites url to reach their desired destination. The question was whether to redirect them to our main domain or not. Pros were the reportedly millions of incoming links from these domains - cons was the fact that lots of issues regarding duplicate content could arise and we actually saw lots of some pages from these domains ranking in the search engines. We were recommended to redirect them, but to take it gradually. I have a simple question - what does gradually mean - one domain per week, per month?
