Recommendations for International Hosting Companies?
-
Hi,
I'm looking to register some country specific domains, and I'm looking for either a host that offers international hosting options in these countries, or recommendations for companies I should be looking at.
The countries in question are:
-
Germany
-
France
-
Spain
-
Italy
-
Portugal
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi irvingw,
I initially set up domain.ie/fr/ etc, but in GWMT you can't set the geo location of a country if you already have a geographic tld.
You reckon hosting country isn't an issue - just the domain?

Are you doing this for SEO reasons? If so I would just host in the US. Hosting location for rankings in that region is not much of a factor anymore due to the fact that companies in 3rd world countries were hosting in 1st world countries because of the need for reliability and it wouldn't be fair to rank them lower based on that decision.
Also, you can geo-target specific folders in GWMT so there is also less of a reason to get a country specific TLD.

Hi.
I have used a UK based company in the past called BB Online (http://www.bb-online.com/) They aren't the cheapest but their service is really good.
To be able to register a domain in many Euorpean countries, the regulating bodies require that you have an address within to country and a business registered within the country. BB Online take care of all of that for you.
The main reason that I chose to use them was that you can phone them directly to ask any questions rather than having to use email or support tickets.
I haven't needed to register another domain with them for about 18 months but up until then all of my experiences with them were good ones.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response Stefan.
It would just be to host a single domain - so no need for a dedicated host - would just need basic hosting & an IP.

I can tell you about Italy and Spain Italy > sitonerd.com and hostingperte.it Spain > Acens.com and arsys.es
-
What kind of hosting packages are you looking for? Because I know a great dedicated server host in Germany, but they only do dedicated servers.

Technical guide for Setting up a CDN to host our images, as well as creating an image sitemap, and setting up the CDN in GWT?
Hi All! We're thinking of setting up a CDN to host our images with a CNAME on a subdomain of our site. In terms of SEO, I was wondering if any of you knew of a pretty complete technical guide for setting it all up. Including whether or not we need to create an image sitemap, and setting it up in GWT. Thanks in advance! Vince

How to avoid duplicate content on internal search results page?
Hi, according to Webmaster Tools and Siteliner our website have an above-average amount of duplicate content. Most of the pages are the search results pages, where it finds only one result. The only difference in this case are the TDK, H1 and the breadcrumbs. The rest of the layout is pretty static and similar. Here is an example for two pages with "duplicate content": https://soundbetter.com/search/Globo https://soundbetter.com/search/Volvo Edit: These are legitimate results that happen to have the same result. In this case we want users to be able to find the audio engineers by 'credits' (musicians they've worked with). Tags. We want users to rank for people searching for 'engineers who worked with'. And searching for two different artists (credit tags) returns this one service provider, with different urls (the tag being the search parameter) hence the duplicate content. I guess every e-commerce/directory website faces this kind of issue. What is the best practice to avoid duplicate content on search results page?

Company blog. What are the best solutions?
Hello Moz Community! Our company has its own blog (www.awarablogs.com) - the blog was created some time ago by means of a simple blog-engine. Now we see that the structure of the blog is bad for SEO (it has long URLs, many useless folders, subdomains and so on), so we'd like to simplify it. But the engine doesn't allow to change its structure in the way we 'd like to. Our webmaster suggested that we use "Alias". Will this method really help us make our blog SEO-friendly? Or is it better to choose another blog software like Wordpress? Thank you very much!

Does an subdomain hosted offsite provide SEO value
We have a job board hosted through an applicant processing system which we've setup as a subdomain (jobs.ourcompany.com), most of the assets are hosted on our primary domain (ourcompany.com). My question is does having it hosted offsite provide any value? Do we get credit for that content being shared and distributed on the web or does the applicant processing system? As I see it the options are (correct me if I'm wrong): Host the job listings on our primary domain (ourcompany.com/jobs) and have it point to the application on the subdomain. Advertise the job listings pointing to the primary domain on the paid sites. The free job listing sites will automatically point to the sub-domain because the applicant processing system automatically submits them. Host the job listings entirely on the sub-domain applicant tracking system and link to it from our primary site navigation. Advertise the job listings to the sub-domain so that both free and paid point to the same place. Obviously the second one would be much easier just not sure on the technical side of our website getting credit by search engines as the one who has produced the content.

Hi, Would applying "noindex" on any page (say internal search pages) or blocking via robots text, skew up the internal site search stats in Google Analytics? Thanks,

Internal Links on eCommerce sites
I have been working on an eCommerce site; www.pretavoir.co.uk over the past year. Improvements in SERPs have been good with many top three positions. However, there are other important keywords of similar difficulty which refuse to behave in a similar way.... The site is PR4 and has a homepage PA 52. The homepage includes links to internal brand pages eg Prada, Gucci etc. Q Would it be worthwhile creating footer anchor text with eaxct text eg Prada sunglasses, Gucci Sunglasses?? Thanks

Where to host my blog
If I cannot have my blog on my main site, what is the second best option? It is currently on Blogger, but I am wondering if it would be worth it to move it to blog.mainsite.com. Thanks!
