Duplicate Page Title
-
Hi Guys,
First off, it's an honour to be a part of this awesome community.
I'm using WordPress and getting top 3 rankings for great keywords and I'm very excited, however my page titles are in this format "keyword optimised title here - site name here"
eg:
"This is my keyword - this is the name of my blog",
"This is another keyword - this is the name of my blog",
"This is a longtail keyword - this is the name of my blog"
SEOMoz is reporting errors because of duplicate page title tags due to the "this is the name of my blog" being in every page title.
Will this hurt my rankings?
Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Troy.

I'm glad to hear you located the root cause and the issue is resolved.

Aha! It's the "tag" pages in WordPress. I have activate Yoasts Robots Meta Plugin now and prevented tag and all other archive pages forem being indexed.
Thanks for prompting me to dig a little deeper Ryan.

Hi Troy.
What you are describing are not instances of duplicate titles and are normally not reported as such. It is more likely each instance is an example of a page with a duplicated title.
If you disagree, then there is an error with the tool which should be reported to help@seomoz.org. I have not heard anyone else share this type of error.

Is Google indexing something I can't see on my page title?
When I do a search for my businesses website (colourpages.com) it returns a listing which is great but the title tag includes Hull Colour Pages which is our old brand name - we changed to colourpages.com 2 years ago yet Hull Colour Pages is still pulling through on the title tag. I have checked the source and it's as follows: <title>Plumbers in Hull - Reviews - colourpages.com</title> I have attached a photo which shows the issue - http://imgur.com/Cva3001 Is Google indexing it from old history that is no longer visible or am I missing something? How to avoid duplicate content on ecommerce pages?
I am currently building the site architecture for a very large ecommerce site. I am wondering how I should build it out if I have products that I want to include in multiple categories within my site. For example: Lets say I sell fitness equipment and I have categories for things such as: Treadmill, Exercise Bike, Stair Stepper, Weight Benches etc. But then I also have specific brand category pages such a: Precor, Life Fitness, Hammer, Body Solid So my question is how do I structure this so I am building this correctly? If I sell a Precor Treadmill I will want to include that product under the "Treadmill" category page as well as under the "Precor Equipment" category page. Can I get some advice for the best way to structure this? It's obviously something I want to avoid at all costs of doing improperly and having to fix later. Thank you Jake
