SEO value of Articles, Magento vs. Wordpress?
-
Our e-commerce site is running on the Magento platform while the blog for the site is integrated and is on the Wordpress platform. The blog is not on a separate subdomain, so it is on www.website.con/blog.
What I wonder is how Google treats information on a Wordpress blog compared to pages created in the Magento CMS pages. Would a high quality content article posted as a blog post on the Wordpress have a lower SEO value than a page on the Magento?
Thanks.

First I would share that while URLs can affect ranking, their effect is quite low. I try to keep them short and clear not only for ranking, but for user readability.
I would suggest offering the flattest URL structure possible. Is having the term "blog" or "resources" actually helpful for anything? It really depends on your site. For some sites it makes a lot of sense to add a /blog layer to the URL, but for others it does not.

Having information on Magento or Wordpress may be the same SEO value.
But what happens if the information in this case will be:
www.website.com/blog/resources/article
www.website.com/resources/article
Then it is better to have the second option from a SEO point of view, isnt it?

Thanks for the answers, then it looks like we are sticking to the wordpress blogg and posting the useful resources and other information there instead.
Cheers!

I think what's really important here for SEO is that you've got an on-site blog, and the blog is on a decent platform. And what's the alternative to your Wordpress blog - a Magento blog module?
I've been asking our technical team for ages to change the blogs on our Magento sites from a Magento blog module to a Wordpress platform (should be done in the next few weeks :D). I've found our current blog module such a pain to work with that I would cut off my arm and eat it before I would use it on any site of my own.
When you have to update a blog regularly you need a comfortable and flexible user interface, and Wordpress gives you this. When you need to present articles in a professional and attractive way on a commercial website, Wordpress makes this easy. When you need to make SEO tweaks like global changes to a tag name Wordpress makes this easy.
If you have good content and the blog is accessible you should be fine.

What I wonder is how Google treats information on a Wordpress blog compared to pages created in the Magento CMS pages.
For the most part, Google treats all web pages equally. Whether a web page is from a forum, blog, e-commerce site, plain html or any other form of site the page itself has a specific structure. There are meta tags contained in the of the document. There is content in the of the document. The content is divided into recognized containers such as header, footer, navigation, sidebars, body, etc. Google views and weighs the content accordingly.
The above response should be fine, and the below detail probably falls under the category of Too Much Information.
Google's full algorithm is not known to anyone outside Google. There is always a possibility Google could adjust a web page slightly based on whether it was an e-commerce page or a blog article, but it has never been confirmed by any credible source. I have never seen it even suggested nor any testing of this idea.

Splitting a strong page - SEO
Hi, I have a page with high traffic that is showing a list of flea markets in a unique URL. We are redesigning our website and we have created a listing directory of flea markets, so the users can look up and find the information for each. Each flea market will have its own URL in the future, and the listing directory shows only summarized info of each flea market in the results. Before activating the new flea market section, I would like to make sure which is our best bet: Option 1: Create pages with same URL/content as the current ones, which we won't link from frontend, and besides that, use the new flea market section on a separate page. Option 2: Redirect the current page to the new flea market section. As an inaccurate reference because it depends on many variables and SEO doesn't have an actual number, I understand this is more or less how it would work: Example Option 1 (after 1 week of launch): Old Flea Market Pages SEO traffic: 10,000 visits/month New Copied Flea Market Pages traffic: 9,700 (maybe a bit below 100 because of design changes etc) New Flea Market Section traffic: 500 visits/month (then increase over time) Example Option 2 (after 1 week of launch): Old Flea Market Pages SEO traffic: 10,000 visits/month New Redirected Flea Market Pages traffic: 9,000 (in principle PageRank wouldn't be affected, but other rankings might) New Flea Market Section traffic: (joined above, then increase over time) According to this, Option 1 would give us more total future visits compared to redirecting, plus the new flea market pages would add to it. If redirecting, the new flea market section would add up some SEO juice to the old page, but not as much as Option 1 (not redirecting). Please confirm. Which option is the best one and why? Suggestions for a SEO Review
I think it would be beneficial to have a third party seo review of the network of sites my team and I manage and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for what sort of tests should be done or that we should expect to see done during one of these reviews. We are a small team who has varying seo experience and have been working hard to make improvements to our sites in the past year. Most of our sites have been completely overhauled in the last 12-16 months and seo work that had not been done in the past has been setup, along with some corrections that may have been harming seo. We believe we are on the right track and have learned a good amount about seo in that time, but it would be nice to have some "expert" feedback outside of our office to get a clearer picture on anything we may be missing or some suggested improvements. A sort of double check on the work we have done.

Wordpress access denied
In Google Webmaster tools after doing a Google Fetch for our Blog which is showing Access Denied for 900+ pages this is the report that comes up and I wonder if this is causing the 900+ pages to show "Access Denied" and if so how to rectify it? The page seems to redirect to itself. This may result in an infinite redirect loop. Please check the Help Center article about redirects.```

Changing Wordpress Permalinks Bad For SEO?
Hi, I have various pages set up such as http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-singer. Is there any benefit in SEO terms to changing it to http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-music/wedding-singer? I would presume that a keyword would be better for SEO than 'home' which is irrelevant? Also if I were to change it would all the links external I have on other sites pointing to http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-singer be lost as the url no longer exists? I suppose I could set up a manual redirect from http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-singer to http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-music/wedding-singer or would wordpress automatically redirect from the old to new? By redirecting I understand that some 'link juice' is lost along the way so is including the keyword in the url of enough benefit to warrant losing some link juice? Finally if I do change the url to include the keyword how do I do it in wordpress? I can only see how to change the page title using the 'edit' button when editing a page?

1 hr of SEO vs Paid Link
Can me paying an SEO firm $250 for one hour of work benefit me more than buying a lifetime link on Best of the Web for $249? ( Firm said I had to buy a min of 8 hrs though) The firm strongly suggested that I not purchase a paid link. (All my major competitors have paid the $249) Boodreaux

Should I Remove My Articles From Article Directories?
I have been submitting articles to directories for about 3 years. With the Panda update, it seems that these directories are now obsolete. So, if there is no link value from these articles: 1) should I remove these articles (at east the better ones) and place them on my site/blog? 2) If not, would there be any benefit at pointing some bookmarks at these old links to maybe get some juice out of them?
