Seo template for new website
-
I am revamping my website (www.UltimateBasicTraining.com). It's going to be major and I am concerned about the potential traffic loss since over 60% of my overall traffic comes from organic search results in the military basic training area.
Are there any good SEO website templates I can start from? I see a lot out there but would prefer the advice of professionals.
Thanks

Hi, sure, what I meant was - if you're going to re-target, meaning maybe a page on the old site was optimized for "blue widgets" and you're re-optimizing it for "red widgets". I was just curious if you were trying to change what you're hoping to rank for?
Which brings me back to my point, if you're redoing everything from the ground up, you really want to do keyword research to know exactly what terms you're going to optimize the pages for.

that's why I got the pro membership here, to capitalize on it as much as possibl.e
Yay! That is a great attitude.

thanks for the encouragement and advice.I am definately thinking this is an opportunity and that's why I got the pro membership here, to capitalize on it as much as possibl.e

Changing the template of a website usually goes well if you do two things....
... 1) Maintain all of the important optimization elements of each page, and 2) do not change your URLs.
I want to encourage you to change your attitude about revamping your website. You are looking at it with fear instead of with an aggressive attitude of opportunity.
If you are revamping your website that revamping should include your SEO as well. You should be trying to improve it - not worry about screwing it up.
So, I encourage you to put time into study, planning and research that will help you accomplish that. Maybe you should even hire an experienced SEO to help you kick up the optimization of your site and improve your internal linkage structure.
You will be rewarded if you do.
Attack!

Thanks, just about everything on the site is going to change, from the graphics to the text to the navigation bar. I know how to do a redirect to a new page, but i am not aware how to redirect a "keyword"

Hi
Doing a redesign isn't so much about the new CMS or platform, but how smooth you make the transition.
-
Is your content (text) or architecture (URLs menus, # of pages) going to change significantly? If so, it matters more to worry about redirects etc.
-
Have you done any preliminary work to guide the design of the new site, like keyword research, re-designed the architecture? That type of work, being sure you're targeting the same keywords and searches that you're already showing up for, is pretty important.
But as far as a CMS or platform, WordPress is extremely SEO friendly, especially if you install Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin, and Google Analytics for WordPress plugin.

Duplicate Version of My Website
Hello Again, Looking for a little help to help me understand what exactly is going on here. Ive taken over maintenance of a website and have so far fixed a lot of issues. ahrefs has shown me that a second version of my companies website exists that exists at a second url. This second website is linked to the actual company website like I haven't seen before. www(dot)#(dot)co(dot)uk is the main company website. But a second accessible version exists and is accessible at www(dot)#(dot)co(dot)uk The instruments version is a direct copy and all of the links point directly to my main site. Any changes I make on the main version are automatically applied to the other version. It shows up as a SPAM back link on moz as all of the link points to my website etc Ideally in my mind, the instruments version homepage should simply re-direct to the main homepage to solve this "duplicate content and spammy backlink" issue however, the instruments version is the same suffix that all our company emails work with. Basically, HELP lol. I have no understanding of how this is set up, and the best way in which to deal and if it could affect anything such as company emails.

Ajax, SEO and Angular
Hi all! We have a platform which includes a housing area which is created by ajax and angular. You can see a sample here:
Technical SEO | | Eurasmus.com
eurasmus.com/en/erasmus-antwerp/student-room-accommodation It has a static version under which shows the first 18 rooms, the rest are generated by angular.
Also this static version has a dynamic text with around 400 characters. Is this the right procedure?
How would you suggest to do it?0 -

301 redirect to new website
We are migrating to a new website that will be using entirely new URLs under the same domain as the old website. The old website is a custom PHP script and the new website uses Drupal. I know that I should use individual 301 redirects to the corresponding new pages. My question is just how to set up the hundreds of 301 redirects from the old website to the new one? Here is the process I've come up with. Please let me know if there is an easier and better way for this. Before actually changing to the new website: download an advanced report with all pages on this domain from OSE. Find corresponding pages on the new website Make the hundreds of 301 redirect lines in an .htaccess file with the following code: redirect 301 /oldurl.html http://domain.com/the-full-url Thanks in advance for your help!

How do I resolve Twin domains? redirect website.com to www.website.com?
I am new to this website. Tried to run a campain and got a warning that website.com resolves to www.website.com which hinders SERP by competing for Keyword indexing!. (website is my domain name) Would appreciate help with this. Thanks. S.H. PS: here is the exact wording of error : We have detected that the domain www.yfvaccine.com and the domain yfvaccine.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here.

Website IP Location
My main target audience is in the UK, but my website's IP is in the United States. Would it be worthwhile to change the IP to a UK address? How would I go about that? Thanks!

SEO Tomfoolery
Oh Hai, I recently changed the permalink structure on my Wordpress based site, southwestbreaks.co.uk from the standard ?p=123 to a more SEO chummy /%postname%/. As a result, my site has completely dropped off the board for all my previously well ranked search phrases. Having since gotten into SEOmoz a bit more, I can see there are WP plugins available that apparently would've done this a lot more smoothly. I'd be most grateful if someone could explain if this drop off is just temporary, or have I somehow entered Google's shun book? The site has been like this for about 48 hours. Thanks, Tim
