What techniques do you use for the optimisation of images on Google.
Alt tag , image title
Surrounding text
Anyone tested actual linking to the image url and not the page url. I have achieved hundreds of top listed images but when it gets competitive what is the most useful technique you have used.

There is no SEO benefit offered by using the title property for images.
I did forget to mention the file name as a factor as well. Provide your images with descriptive titles such as craftsman-wrench.jpg instead of image344213.jpg.

how important do you rate the title attribute on images. I have found this combined with a Alt tag to provide Top 3 positions for images -

how do you explain the ranking of images on competitive terms
The only manner in which I know images are associated with keywords are through the use of ALT text and links. Search engines certainly have the tools to associate images with the words surrounding the image or the title of the page which contains the image as well. I have not personally performed any testing in that regard and am unaware of such testing.

Three other thoughts come to mind:
1. Ensure your images are optimized for size, as in disk-size. If you use Photoshop, there is a specific option to save a file for use on websites. Otherwise Smush.it is a great lossless image compression tool.
2. Always declare your image dimensions. This step is part of site speed optimization.
3. If you use the image as a link and offer text as the same link, present it as a single link within a single tag. If you have an image showing a Ford Mustang and below the image you type the word "Ford Mustang" then the area should be a single link to the proper page of your site.

Google AMP or CDN?
Hello. I'm running a CMS that cannot currently support both CDN and Google AMP. I would have to choose one or the other. Does anyone have any insight on which may be the better choice until I can figure out how to have both? I installed CDN first to reduce the time it took for my pages/images to load. I'd like to have AMP because it can do the same, and perhaps be a little more Google friendly (their product). I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks! Steve

Google Mobile usability issues

I received a mail from Google to "Fix mobile usability issues found on http://miguel-proença.com/ ". I've changed to a responsive design and all site pages are now mobile-friendly. However, on webmaster tools the usability issues still appear. Does anybody have a solution to this ? Thanks0 -
Why Isn't Google Authorship Showing My Picture?
I have several clients and the Google Authorship images used display in the search results for all of them. About a month ago all of the images disappeared, however it still displays "by <name>, indicating that Google Authorship is working -- it just doesn't show the image (see screenshots). The image follows the guidelines, and we've got the rel author tag in place, with a link back to Google. </name> When I use the Google Structured Data Testing Tool it shows that authorship is properly functioning. I'm completely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas why this may not be working? Google Map Marker not showing up when using HTML Embed Code
Hi community, For several clients, when embedding the Google Maps, the Marker DOES NOT appear. I am copying straight from Google Maps, it appears fine in Google Maps. Blocking Subdomain from Google Crawl and Index
Hey everybody, how is it going? I have a simple question, that i need answered. I have a main domain, lets call it domain.com. Recently our company will launch a series of promotions for which we will use cname subdomains, i.e try.domain.com, or buy.domain.com. They will serve a commercial objective, nothing more. What´s the penalization extent applied by Google?
Hi! I still don´t get this web site penalization applied by Google due to duplicate content. My site has many of pages that were among the first positions for top keywords (A Photoshop web site). Those pages were linked by sites like LifeHacker, BoingBoing, Microsiervos, SmashingMagazine, John Nack, and many other well known blogs. After mid February 2012 everything went down the drain. I lost half of my traffic and my well ranked pages are now almost nowhere to be found. I have plenty of ads in some pages of my site, and duplicate content (amazon product description only) in other pages of my site. So, the good quality pages my site has, are no longer considered as good quality just because I have some duplicate content or ad filled pages? I´m not complaining. I´m trying to understand this. Google needs to serve good information to their visitors. But since they found some trash in my site, they decide to remove both the trash and the good information from the search engine? That doesn´t sound logical to me. Why don´t they just remove the trash and leave the good content? Of course, I understand that information is added everyday and some may come up with something better than mine, but dropping 40 or more places in the ranking sounds more like a penalty to me. Again, I´m not complaining (although it sounds like I am!), just want to understand the reasons behind this. Thanks, Enrique

Google Penalty?
What are the characteristics of a Google penalty - i.e. how do you know by looking at the rankings for your keywords? Do all keywords that you had previously ranked for fall from say top 5 to nowhere? Do you disappear from SERP for a branded keyword? Or something else?? Basically how do you know if you have been penalized? Thanks
