Will canonical tag get rid of duplicate page title errors?
-
I have a directory on my website, paginated in groups of 10. On page 2 of the results, the title tag is the same as the first page, as it is on the 3rd page and so on. This is giving me duplicate page title errors. If i use rel=canonical tags on the subsequent pages and href the first page of my results, will my duplicate page title warnings go away?
thanks.

this is a great idea. I think that the view all is most likely my best option.
-
One other maybe even better solution would be to implement a see all button, to list all products under one page for the engines. Look here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/09/pagination-with-relnext-and-relprev.html
I think this is specially for you

Welcome

Of course, we just change the titles manually for each page. Pretty easy to do.
-
thanks for your response. No the second or third pages do not bring any added benefit to a user visiting via SE. This should remove over 100 errors, so thank you.
-
They will definately go away with canonicals, but take page content into consideration as well. Can the second or third page bring a different value for the visitor? May it appear in the serps for other search querries than the first? If this is the case than with canonilizing second, third etc pages you stop them from ranking in google. If they do not bring additional user benefit, than be no afraid to plce the canonicals.

'Duplicate Page Content' for dissimilar pages
I'm using Moz's Crawl Diagnostics to try and clean up some SEO priorities for our website (http://www.craftcompany.co.uk) HOWEVER, virtually all of the pages that are being categorised as duplicate content are not the same, or indeed similar. For instance, these three pages have been deemed duplicated pages; http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/pme-rose-leaf-veined-plunger.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-ribbon-black-25mm-wide.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-maroon-10mm-wide-25mt.html Can anyone give me an insight into why this is? Many Thanks! http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/

Duplicate content on SearchResults.asp
hi guys. I'm currently working through the reported crawl errors in Moz Analytics, but an unsure what to do about some of them. for example... Searchresults.asp?search=frankie+says+relax is showing as having duplicate page content and page title as SearchResults.asp?searching=Y&sort=13&search=Frankie+Says+Relax&show=24 There's all sorts of searchresults.asp page being flagged. Is this something i can safely ignore or is it something i should endeavour to rectify? I'm also getting errors reported on shoppingcart.asp pages as well as pindex.asp (product index). I'm thinking i should maybe add disallow/ shoppingcart.asp to my robots text file, but am unsure as to whether i should be blocking robots from the search results pages and product index (which is essentially a secondary sitemap). Any advice would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks, Dave 🙂

Solving 'duplicate content' for page 2 of X for 1 blog post
Hi to all SEO wizards, For my Dutch blog google-plus-marketing.nl I'm using WordPress Genesis framework 2.0 with news theme pro 2.0 responsive theme. I love the out of the box SEO friendliness and features. One of those features is that it allows for a blog post or page to be divided into several pages. This results in MOZ signaling duplicate titles for all pages after the 1st page. Now I was thinking that a canonical url set to the first page should do the trick for me as I reason that the rank will go the the first page and the rest will not be seen as duplicates. Genesis does some good stuff on it's own and places the following meta tags in the header for the first page. All looks well and my question is about the same meta tags for the 2nd page and higher that I pasted below this one for the 1st page. Meta tags page 1 of X for blog post Meta tags page 2 of X for the same blog post Would it not be better to point the canonical url for page 2 till X to always point to the first page? In this case:

I have no idea how to Fix that. Tried google it but none for Tag in particular. PS. I have changed the Theme recently therefore so did the URL Anyone?

Duplicate Content
Crawl Diagnostics is returning duplicate content/title tags for every product image on listing pages of my classified site because each image is on a separate url. So this page, for example, http://marketplace.myclassicgarage.com/cars/all/Chevrolet-Bel-Air/24481/ has, among other things, the same title tag as all this page, http://marketplace.myclassicgarage.com/cars/all/Chevrolet-Bel-Air/24481/media/151968 which is one of many different images that are all child pages in the folder /media In this particular case there are over 140 pages with the same title tag because there are over 140 images for this particular car. That is just one listing and there are over 1,000 listings (vehicles) and that number will grow. Is this really a problem? With limited resources, what real positive effect will making all these images have unique title tags really have from a SERP perspective? Keep in mind this being user generated content, there is no way to descriptively update the title tags to something like <title>Bel Air Passenger Side Profile</title>. That is not feasible.

Crawl report - duplicate page title/content issue
When the crawl report is finished, it is saying that there are duplicate content/page titles issues. However there is a canonical tag that is formatted correctly so just wondered if this was a bug or if anyone else was having the same issues? For example, I'm getting a error warning for this page http://www.thegreatgiftcompany.com/categories/categories_travel?sort=name_asc&searchterm=&page=1&layout=table
