Better to optimize page, post or category in WordPress

Hello,
This question is for the WordPress experts out there. I've always wondered if it is better for SEO to focus on a particular keyword by writing a page or a post dedicated to it. For example, if I want to rank high for the keyword "Seattle rocks", do you think I'd be better off writing a page titled "Seattle rocks" or a post titled "Seattle rocks".
The ideal for me would be to create a category with the URL that includes that keyword for my WordPress blog, but I do not know if I can do a good job in terms of SEO optimizing the keyword. For instance, if we consider the keyword in the example above, I'd create a category which will have the following URL:
http://www.seomozthebest.com/category/seattle-rocks
Do you think I can still focus on that keyword having such URL? As you know, WordPress would allow me to write some text in the description tag, which will be visible on the site. I guess that I could use the description box to create some optimized content using the keyword "Seattle rocks" and then launch a link building campaign using the anchor text "Seattle rocks" directing to the URL: http://www.seomozthebest.com/category/seattle-rocks
Do you think that I can optimize the keyword by creating a category?

P.S.: I've never been to Seattle and the post "Seattle rocks" was just an example. Although, I feel that Seattle must be a great place. I'll visit it one day

In my experience posts often rank faster and higher,
Last week I posted an article on a blog of a client of mine, the domain is only a half year old, and it hasn't got many backlinks. The posts that I write for the blog are indexing within a couple of minutes and they tend to rank very high, even for search queries with high volume and high competition.
In this case are building a website about sustainable and durable renovation of houses, and one of the terms he wants to rank for is "bio ecological housing" (I don't know if this is the correct translation), and what we did is make a dedicated page www.website.com/bio-ecological-housing and then wrote some posts like "what is bio ecological housing", "5 benefits of bio ecological housing", "top materials for bio ecological housing"... and we include a strong CTA on those blog posts with a link to the dedicated page. That way we benefit from fast and high indexing of posts.

Pages or posts?
It depends upon your target.
If you are making arrows you can grab any stick, make the arrow quickly and shoot it without aiming carefully.
Or, you can be really picky to get a really straight stick, spend time to make it balanced and attach and trim your fletchings with a great amount of care. These arrows are used sparingly, aimed carefully and fly straight and fast.
The arrow made with any stick is a post on a blog... the finely crafted arrow is a page on a website.
But in the end it depends upon what you are shooting... if your arrows are tipped with a suction cup then any stick is all they are worth... but if they are tipped with a razor sharp broadhead then it is a waste not to be making the finely crafted arrow.

There are no SEO benefits to having a page over a post, or a post over a page. They are essentially the same thing. The only difference is that posts can be categorized.
Creating a category would do you little to no good because you would then have to fill that category with content from a post. It would make no sense in having a blank category filled with category description content when you could create a page/post easier.
So as far as you choosing to publish a post or a page thats up to you. If its a blog entry that has personality and you want users to engage in the content with comments then I would publish it as a post. If the content you are publishing is "static" info then you could make it a page. It sounds as if "Seattle Rocks" would be best suited as a blog post though.

May integrating my main category page in the index page improve my ranking of main category keyword?

Best way to link to 1000 city landing pages from index page in a way that google follows/crawls these links (without building country pages)?

I would like to add in the index page for each country a link "more cities" which then loads dynamically (without reloading the page and without redirecting to another page) a list with links to all cities in this country.
I do not want to dillute "link juice" to my top 100 country and city landing pages on the index page.
I would still like google to be able to crawl and follow these links to cities that I load dynamically later. In this particular case typical site hiearchy of country pages with links to all cities is not an option. Any recommendations on how best to implement?0 -
WordPress posts Title field inserts title into blog posts like a headline but doesn't ad H1 tag how to change?
I have a Wordpress website which is just using the Default theme, when I post in the blog, whatever I put in the "Title" field at the top of the editor is automatically is placed within the body of the blog post, like a headline, but it doesn't include any H1 tags that I can see. If I add my own headline within in the blog editor, it still inserts the Title like a headline. I am using the Yoast SEO Plugin and also write the meta title there, should I just leave the Wordpress title field blank so it doesn't insert into the blog post? Or is that inserted Title being recognized as an H1 even though I don't see h1 tags anywhere? Hope this isn't too confusing.

Category pages
I am a very basic question on managing categories in WordPress. We have an Android website, and we cover news, rumors, tips and tricks about new devices. We have been creating categories for the new devices or at least for the popular ones which are launched every year, and link to them internally with the hope that it would improve the page authority and ranking. For example, we have a category page for Moto X, another one for Moto X (2014) and one more for Moto X (2015). One of the reasons for creating a category was to ensure that it is easier for readers to get information about a particular device rather than going to a category page that has information about all the models. However, the problem with their strategy we're now realizing is that it means we have to build page authority for the new category page from scratch, which can take time. So we are thinking of reusing the same category for multiple models. So reuse the Moto X category page for Moto X (2016). However, we are not sure if it would be right approach as we would be linking to the same category page with different anchor texts. So while it would be good to reuse a page rather than rebuild the page authority from scratch, would we be diluting the authority for the main keyword by using it for different models. I would love to hear your thoughts on how we should be handling categories and internal links in this case.

Merge content pages together to get one deep high quality content page - good or not !?
Hi, I manage the SEO of a brand poker website that provide ongoing very good content around specific poker tournaments, but all this content is split into dozens of pages in different sections of the website (blog section, news sections, tournament section, promotion section). It seems like today having one deep piece of content in one page has better chance to get mention / social signals / links and therefore get a higher authority / ranking / traffic than if this content was split into dozens of pages. But the poker website I work for and also many other website do generate naturally good content targeting long tail keywords around a specific topic into different section of the website on an ongoing basis. Do you we need once a while to merge those content pages into one page ? If yes, what technical implementation would you advice ? (copy and readjust/restructure all content into one page + 301 the URL into one). Thanks Jeremy
