Do we have to do different work for SEO for an affiliate site than for a normal blog?

I am interested to do the SEO work for an affiliate site. Is it same as others or something particular has to be done for affiliate sites.

Hi raybiswa,
Matt Cutts gave some insight on this.
I can not for the life of me, dig it up, I believe it was a video. The topic was either affiliate links or ratio of advertising to content or maybe reviews? Sorry!
The basis of the advice was the same as always great content, more content, typical stuff.
But, then he gave a little tidbit that I have found vitally important when dealing with affiliate marketing.
He made a statement that said as long as you're "giving visitors choices, you'll be fine".
I tested this, I had a pretty established page that was ranking very well and by chance it had 3 affiliate links at the bottom to 3 different partner stores.
For fun, I deleted two of them.
The page dropped SIGNIFICANTLY, I wasn't using SEOMoz tools at the time but, traffic dipped from 60-80 visits per day to less than 10.
I left it for about a month and it never regained the ranking, until, I added the two options back to the page.
It came back to previous levels within 2 weeks.
So, give visitors options, use real reviews, watch your ratio of content to aff links and that works fine for me.
Also, I have a mini site that deals with the sale of tickets. There are only a couple ticket providers available so this method works for me.
At the bottom of each event description I use a link to a single page that has links to the 3 main providers. I no index and no follow that page with the aff links. That seems to work very well and only a small percentage of click throughs seem to be lost, not having the aff links on every page is well worth the slight loss in the click through transition.
I hope this tidbit helps you out.
I also hope that you weren't asking about YOU being the sales page and having affiliates pointing links at you! If so, I completely misunderstood! And that is a totally different topic!

Site migration/ CMS/domain site structure change-no access to search console
Hi everyone, We are migrating an old site under a bigger umbrella (our main domain). As mentioned in the title, We'll perform CMS migration, domain change, and site structure change. Now, the major problem is that we can't get into google search console for the old site. The site still has old GA code, so google search console verification using this method is not possible, also there is no way developers will be able to add GTM or edit DNS setting (not to bother you with the reason why). Now, my dilemma is : 1. Do we need access to old search console to notify Google about the domain name change or this could be done from our main site (old site will become a part of) search console 2. We are setting up 301 redirects from old to the new domain (not perfect 1:1 redirect ). Once migration is done does anything else needs to be done with the old domain (it will become obsolete)? 3.The main site, Site-map... Should I create a new sitemap with newly added pages or update the current one. 4. if you have anything else please add:) Thank you!

Do I need to add the actual language for meta tags and description for different languages? cited for duplicate content for different language
Hi, I am fairly new to SEO and this community so pardon my questions. We recently launched on our drupal site mandarin language version for the entire site. And when i do the crawl site, i get duplicate content for the pages that are in mandarin. Is this a problem or can i ignore this? Should i make different page titles for the different languages? Also, for the metatag and descriptions, would it better in the native language for google to search for? thanks in advance.

I have a general site for my insurance agency. Should I create niche sites too?
I work with several insurance agencies and I get this questions several times each month. Most agencies offer personal and business insurance and in a certain geographic location. I recommend creating a quality general agency site but would they have more success creating other nice sites as well? For example, a niche site about home insurance and one about auto insurance. What would your recommendation be?

Changing Domain / Site Name - An SEO Nightmare?
My company will be changing its name and moving to a new domain in about a month. What can I do from an SEO perspective to get ready for the big move? Do I just need to 301 redirect all my URLs to their new corresponding pages? Thanks!
