How to quickly up your PA/DA?
-
Okay people,
so far i've actually tried a lot of things and analised a lot of data provided by SEOMoz and i already made a lot of changes.
Still one of my competitors stands on the number 1 position in Google. Their page ranks F for the keyword and my page ranks A.
I can only come to the conclusion that there is another part that plays his part here. So i basicly found this informatie:
- Page Grade:
- My site: Grade A
- Competitor: Grade F
- Page Authority (PA):
- My site: 49/100
- Competitor: 62/100
- Domain Authority (DA):
- My Site: 39/100
- Competitor: 55/100
- Total Links:
- My Site: 1188
- Competitor: 8250
- FB Shares:
- My Site: 15
- Competitor: 14
- FB Likes:
- My Site: 2
- Competitor: 1
- Tweets:
- My Site:6
- Competitor: 7
- Google+:
- My Site: 3
- Competitor: 0
I already made some adjustments to my facebook fan page so it can recieve more likes then before.
I think the main issue is located in the PA en DA factors. What do you guys think and what could i do to quickly increase my PA en DA factor (PA is the most important one i think).
hope to hear from you soon

Keyword density is a myth. http://www.miislita.com/fractals/keyword-density-optimization.html
dont keyword stuff tags like the title with keywords, place the keyword as many times as you want in the document, as long as it is natural.
-
To be honest, I don't pay much attention to keyword density. I make sure to use the keyword once or twice on the page, near the top in the middle of a relevant sentence. I link to the page internally using varying anchor text, and the links all come not from navigation links but from editorial text links contained in body text towards the top of the page.
I also write extensively about the keyword topic, this means 5-600 words examining the topic, filled with related keywords and relevant topics. For some reason, the quality of the writing matters. Google seems pretty sophisticated at determining when something is spammy, and when something has a Wikipedia quality about it.

Hello Cyrus,
thanks for the pointers. I already submitted a in depth keyword Analysis. The report is being printed right now...
i'm currently using the competitive link finder for finden more link with higher MR MT en DA. I also adjusted some link anchors from website I control to my site. Hope it will help some at least
thanks for the pointer.
What is your feel about keyword density? Is it or isn't it a factor, how big a factor is it? Where should you keep the density at?
-
so that works exactly like PR calculation.
so for my DA to go up i might actually need to "collect" 1,000 links in order to go up to 50?
-
Hi Jamo,
Looks like you've done some good research. Here's some more tips:
1. Use the Keyword Analysis tool to give you an even more in-depth view of why your competition is out-ranking you. Be sure to run a full report, and you can add your own url for comparison.
http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/keyword-difficulty
2. Don't forget anchor text. A few high authority links with the right anchor text - containing exact or partial match keywords - can go a long way in helping an otherwise poorly optimized page to rank.
3. As others have said, it's all about building high quality links to your site. Unfortunately, this takes time, patience and energy, but it's well worth it in the end.
Oh, and instead of using "total links" as a metric, try looking at "total linking root domains" instead, as this is a better indicator or ranking potential.
-
Theo and nick give good advice.
One more thing, DA and PA are logarithmic, so if you are 40 and your competitor is 60, the difference between 40 and 50, is ten times as big as the difference between 30 and 40
-
PA and DA are primarily based on links. It looks like your competitor is out-shining you there. I'd make your major next step a link building campaign.
-
You can't 'quickly' raise your PA/DA in a legit and normal way.
Aside from the caps that Google is said to have on your allowed growth/time, raising these values requires high amounts of backlinks from strong domains. Focus on creating top quality content that your target audience wants to read, share and link to. A higher PA/DA will follow.

How to carry across/capture linkjuice during an SEO site migration
Hi there - I am planning out an SEO migration but this thought just occured to me: If the links into a site's previous URL went to the non-canonical version of the domain name - e.g. to: https://theguardian.com/uk and not the correct version of that URL, which is: https://www.theguardian.com/uk Then, if I do a redirect simply from the correct canonical version of the domain:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk - rather than the versions of the domain that are being pointed to by backlinks - e.g. https://theguardian.com/uk - then the migration will not be carrying across all the linkjuice from the previous site. So how would you suggest dealing with this issue?0 -
CMS Pages - Multiple URLS (/)
Hi guys, this type of question has been asked a few times before but I couldn't find something that told me what i need so apologies if its a tad repetitive. I use Magento, and have several pages using its CMS. However, it produces 2 URLS for each page with a simple /. For example, website.com/hire
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | ATP
website.com/hire/ I know google treats this as 2 separate pages, which would be the better solution. 1. Write a URL re-write for every CMS page
RewriteRule ^hire$ http://www.website.com/hire/ [R=301,L] (Is this right?) 2. Write a general rewrite rule to always add the /
No idea where to begin with this 3. Add a Canonical tag to the page which i think is possible in magento by adding this to the Custom Design Layout XML option in the page CMS. <action method="addLinkRel"></action> <rel>canonical</rel> <href>http://www.website.com/hire/</href> This would make the /hire/ page self-reference and the /hire page reference the /hire/ page I think. Which one of these solutions is the best and any pointers with the coding would be grand.0 -
Google PR & OSE DA/PA Question
Hey Moz Community, Can anyone explain why a website would have a PR4 Home page and most inner pages PR3 with only a DA12 and PA14 from OSE? The website in question is my Rotary club http://carymacgregorrotary.org. Thank you.

Website Re-Launch - New URLS / Old URL WMT
Hello... We recently re-launched website with a new CMS (Magento). We kept the same domain name, however most of the structure changed. We were diligent about inputting the 301 redirects. The domain is over 15 years old and has tons of link equity and history. Today marks 27 days since launch...And Google Webmaster Tools showed me a recently detected (dated two days ago) URL from the old structure. Our natural search traffic has take a slow dive since launch...Any thoughts? Some background info: The old site did not have a sitemap.xml. The relaunched site does. Thanks!

Site DA and squeeky clean link building
Hello, We've got a piece of useful content we're doing outreach for. No sites we have found are in our exact niche, but there are generally relevant sites we're targeting. What's a good rule of thumb for the minimum PR or DA we should go after to make sure our link building is squeaky clean for the future?

Page not showing up on Bing/Yahoo
We have a page that's ranking well on Google, however the page is not showing up in either Yahoo or Bing. What's even more odd is that for Y! and Bing, the page doesn't return in SERP even when you explicitly search for it (e.g. homepage + name of page). Instead, the result that gets returned is our homepage along with a Page Title that's been manipulated to include the keywords, but the title is not what we have in our title tag. Bing processed our sitemap today and I also manually submitted the URL, but it's still not turning up. Any thoughts?

Duplicate Content on Wordpress b/c of Pagination
On my recent crawl, there were a great many duplicate content penalties. The site is http://dailyfantasybaseball.org. The issue is: There's only one post per page. Therefore, because of wordpress's (or genesis's) pagination, a page gets created for every post, thereby leaving basically every piece of content i write as a duplicate. I feel like the engines should be smart enough to figure out what's going on, but if not, I will get hammered. What should I do moving forward? Thanks!
