Amazon Affiliate Link Values
-
I'm fairly new to the whole SEO and link building scene so I'm trying to get a handle of high value, low value, and negative value links. For example, I had a discussion with my boss on the idea of affiliating our e-commerce site with Amazon. From a business standpoint, it'd probably increase sales. However, I was wondering if those links would have value for search engines?
Thanks

Hi Robert,
Google has traditionally not passed value on links from affiliate programs - the reason being that the site is receiving financial incentives for including those links on the page.
However, Paddy Moogan wrote an SEO blog post on SEOmoz on how to optimize your affiliate program to get some links that will create some SEO value. The link to the blog post is: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/getting-seo-value-from-your-affiliate-links
His suggestions include:
-
Use of a Dedicated Landing Page for Big Affiliates
-
Affiliates Linking to the Right Page
-
Help Affiliates Make Their Content More Valuable
-
Add More Value to Widgets and IFrames That Affiliates Use
Hopefully this was helpful- If you have any specific questions, please ask away!
Best,
Stephanie

Any links from Amazon.com to your website would likely be nofollow, and so would have little or no impact on SEO.

Are these links helping
Hi, We have had a few new links for a client and we are hoping that we can get some feedback on whether these have any link juice. We dont want to waste our time with links that dont benefit the website. Refferal links
I have a site where I can pick up where my hits came from. So if somebody clicks from another website link to visit my website, I will then pick up from which website they came from and also which page they landed on. Will google penalize me for this and see this as paid advertising?

Is there an extra SEO benefit for linking to pages that link to you?
Currently working on a link-building strategy and have gotten a few mentions. Just curious if there is any SEO benefits of linking back to the pages my site was mentioned and linked on? Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Link building
Hello everyone, I am building links for an e-commerce site and I need to increase the value of the links we get by placing them on specific pages in order to pass more juice to inner pages. Which part of the website should I point the links to? Because there is no content section on the site what I can do is either link to the homepage (not an option) or link to inner pages such as category/subcategory/product pages. My doubt is that it wouldn't look natural to link to products pages from a piece of content or from a site where people go with the intention not to buy but to get information. Any opinions on this?

Canonical version and link value
Hi I have recently included rel canonical to point at new seo friendly urls. the new urls are not externally linked as new, however the old versions (with the rel can) are. The question is Do i need to make those linked to the new urls in order to transfer link value to those urls, or the fact that the old urls contain the canonical tags automatically also transfer the external link value too? thanks

Total Links vs Ext. Followed Links
Hi I'm fairly new to SEO and SEOMOZ. I've created a campaign for my own site and I've added 3 competitor sites. There are 1,385 total links to my site and a massive 49,450 links to one of my competitor's site. However under "Ext. Followed Links", there are 1,045 to my site and only 911 to the same competitor site. Am I correct that it is the "Ext. Followed Links" which are more important from an SEO point of view as the other links have the "no follow" attribute set? Or have I got this wrong? Thanks James

SEOs and web developers frequently leave links to their site in the footer of their clients' sites. Does this negatively impact the site with the links?
Does this provide any SEO value to the receiving site? Has anyone experienced problems doing this?

Link Bait Question
When other sites link to your blog pages does it benefit the root domain or just the actual blog page that is linked to? In other words, how page specific is the value of linking?
