How to Calculate % improvement in Mozrank and Domain Authority
-
I understand the concept that mozrank and Domain Authority are measured on a logarithmic scale . http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/mozrank
I'm trying to determine the percentage improvement in the Logrithmic value. For example
Original Domain Authority 60
Original Mozrank 5
End Domain Authority 63
End Mozrank 6.
So 5% change in DA and 20% change in MozRank. How do we convert these numbers to the real logrithmic change?

He's giving you a nonsense number, because SEOMoz won't reveal the true scale, so use whatever logarithmic scale you want.
ie. an indeterminate amount

Super interesting question!
First, let me put out a disclaimer that metrics like Domain Authority are comparative metrics that change from index to index. This means that it's best to use these numbers to compare yourself to the competition, but not to your own previous metrics as the base calculations can change. DA measures relative strength - so it's completely possible to improve 10% by raw numbers, but if your competition improved 10% as well, your relative DA really didn't change. For this reason we caution against folks measuring DA over time, and instead using it as indicator of ranking potential in real time against other competitors.
With that out of the way, last time I checked, MozRank was calculated on an algorithmic base scale of around 8.5. (Sorry, I can't be more specific - but that's part of the secret sauce. Heck, I don't even know the exact numbers.
With this knowledge, you can use a typical base calculator to figure relative strength. For example, a Mozrank of 5 on an 8.5 log scale calculates to 44370.531 um... raw MozRank points. Using the same calculations we find a MozRank 6 equals 377149.516 raw points, or 8.5x the original.
You can do similar calculations to determine the logarithmic change of DA, but keep in mind the disclaimer above and remember that since we can't reveal the exact scale, your calculations will be estimations, at best.
Hope this helps!

Sorry can you elaborate?

Multiply the original MozRank by a buck two eighty.

Keyword Research: Page Authority and Keyword Difficulty
A speaker at a conference suggested using your Page Authority (of home page) number as a benchmark in keyword research to compare against keyword difficulty number. So if you had a Page Authority score of 60, you would look for keywords with a difficulty of under 60 (using the MOZ metrics for keyword difficulty). Has anyone used these metrics in this way? Any success?

Domain name migration
I have purchased a new domain name (b), shorter and more cool than the one I'm actually using (a). Also I'm planning to use wordpress on (b), since my actual site was build entirely on html. So lets say making a migration so slowly. In the meantime I finish (b), I would like to include the name on my cards, and other promos, as well as actualize the new name in all my social profiles. I thinked on doing a 302 on (b) pointing to (a), till the day it will be finished. That day I'll do the opposite, so pointing (a), this time with a 301, to (b). Is this the best way of doing it, in terms os SEO? Thanks

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic
SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
A question posed by Christopher Glaeser from early today:low PA high DA, had a follow up response from him providing 2 urls from PR WEB for separate press releases: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/11/prweb8923419.htm (HP White) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 47 DA - 36 http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/12/prweb9051351.htm (Golfer's Advice) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 1 DA - 96 I kept scratching my head as to how a press release of 6 weeks ago had garnered such attention from a company that would not seem to have a huge traffic due to more obscure product offering and scientific subject (Analyses of Armor Industry versus Golf Advice).

Then I realized that for HP White, Link Data was not about the PR. The url from mozbar was HPWhite.com not the above, I did not notice until I used OSE where same thing was happening. When I cut and pasted the above press release url for HP White and placed it in OSE this changed: PA - 49 DA - 96 (2 links 2 linking root domains) For Golfers advice (0 links from 0 linking domains) Note to all: the links to the PR WEB release for the HP included a low end directory type link and a link from PR WEB (. For Golfer's Advice there was not a link back to the release from PR WEB: Note that Golfer's Advice is a newer release (6 weeks). So, any link from HPWhite release would equal more juice to HP White and PR Web and Vocus. Any link to Golfer's Advice from release offers......???? to Golfer's Advice and who cares to Vocus and PR Web. So, I guess this begs a couple of questions: Why the mozbar link analysis difference for one versus the other? Does PR Web treat some differently than others? Who benefits most from me paying a PR Web to do press releases for a client, PR Web and Vocus or my client and I???? I have tried to order the images to make sense: L to R top, then bottom is last. Tracking a british (.co.uk) domain
I tried to track a british domain and it looks like SEOMOZ interprets it as a subdomain as it has a XX.co.uk address. When I list it as a subdomain, it says that the domain is not responding (i guess coz its pining co.uk. What do I do to create a profile?
