Link to my site not showing up in Open Site Explorer
-
If a link to my site on another domain does not appear in the list of links gathered by the Open Site Explorer, does that mean that this backlink will not be crawled by search engine bots? Is there anything I should do to make sure that this link IS crawled and/or recognized by search engines coughGooglecough?

This often happens to my link profiles too, easy to get paranoid and come to the conclusion that search engines only show us the links they want us to see ......shame Yahoo open Site Explorer gone now too. Try looking in Alexa or Google Webmaster tools .

Go have a few beers... check OSE in 60 days.
-
There could be a number of reasons that it is not showing up in Open Site Explorer. OSE is updated roughly every 30 days, and it may take up to 2 updates for your link to show up in OSE. You can read more on how Open Site Explorer crawls the web and get a few tips on "why isn't there any link data for mu URL" at http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/about#why-isn-t-there-any-link-data-for-my-url
A couple of reasons on why it wouldnt show up (assuming you have waited 2 update cycles):
- There is a problem with the page blocking the crawlers
- There are no links or any way for the crawlers to find the page your link is on. (In this case you have to wonder how valuable this link is anyways. If you think it is of value, submit it to digg or stumbleupon to give it a link for the crawler to find in the next update)

Link Relevance vs Link Authority ?
Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding some low quality links my site is getting. From the information in Open Site Explorer, the website Im talking about has a page authority of 16 while the domain authority is 11\. These are very low quality scores in my oppinion and Im thinking of removing them with Google Disavow Tool. The thing is that, although the domain is low quality, the links have relevance as they're in the same business sector as us. More exactly, the name of the domain is taxisavona and the company I work for is also a taxi company. So, now I`m thinking, should I disavow the link because of it's low scores or should I leave it because it is relevant to our business ? Thank you in advance! Best regards, Tiberiu Iavorenciuc

Best links not showing up
I was wondering why some of my best (high-ranking) links don't show up either in Open Site Explorer or Majestic SEO's backlinks tool. Does Google even see them?

Should you avoid links from infographic sites?
Suppose you have an interesting infographic that you are promoting. Should you be cautious about having it published on sites that only publish infographics? Do you think these sites pass any link value?

Are you careful about linking back to sites that link to you?
Suppose that a trusted website added you to their recommended links page. Do you worry that linking back to them from a page on your site will diminish the value of the original link?

When looking at my site in open site explorer the top results are very dodgy spam and porn sites backlinking to us. Is this having a negative impact on our site?
When using open site explorer to check out who is linking to us I was surprised that the top results are spam and porn sites. These are completely irrelevant links. Does this have a negative impact on our site? What can we do to combat this?

Why does Open Site Explorer list Twitter and Facebook links for one of my sites and not others
One of my sites has the nofollow backlink listed for Facebook and Twitter while 2 other sites do not. All 3 sites have had accounts for over a year. Does the amount of interactivity with the social media profiles have to do with it? I know it is a nofollow link but I was just curious as those profiles might help with the brand signal etc.
