Block url with dynamic text in
-
I've just ran a report and I have a lot of duplicate page titles, most of which seem to be the review page, I use Magento and my normal url would be something like
blah-blahtext.html but the review url is something like
blah-blahtext/reviews/category/categoryname
So I want to block the /reviews url bit as no one ever leaves reviews and it's not something I will be using in the future.
Also I have a dynamic navigation which creates urls that look like product-name.html?size=2&colour=14 these are also creating duplicate urls, anyway to fix this?
While I'm asking, anyone any tips for Magento?

Thanks, so it's not something I should be concerned about.

This is good. It's not an error, its a warning. So you are good from both the duplicate URLs issue as well as the canonical tags I think.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies, I already have canonical tag, like this page
The errors I'm getting are showing in the seomoz crawls
Page shows this in it
<link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="http://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/1-35-german-camo-disc-ak-interactive-ak-157.html" />

I would suggest implementing canonical tag for Magento. That would take care of duplicate URLs for the same pages. As for the review pages, if you are not using the functionality, isn't there a way to disable them completely from within Magento administration ? If not, I would first install that canonical fix and see what you see on those review pages. If not, you can always do a disallow using robots.txt but it's better to have them not exist at all specially when you are not even using them instead of doing a disallow/noindex kind of thing.
I hope that helps.

Just canonical your urls to the root page and that should fix the problem.

From the sounds of it, you need to set canonical URLs as there probably is no easy way to block the review or navigation URLs (since those are on a product-by-product basis). For example, on the review URL (blah-blahtext/reviews/category/categoryname) you would have a canonical tag to blah-blahtext.html. On the category URL, you could set the canonical to product-name.html. That way if Google/Bing see the URLs and the duplicated content, the canonical indicates that those URLs should be treated as an alternative version of the canonical URL.

Does CAPTCHA Block Crawlbots?
Hi, My client's website occasionally asks users to verify their usage by checking the CAPTCHA box. This is only done once per session and is done randomly. Does having CAPTCHA before content loads block crawl bots from properly indexing pages? Does it have any negative impact on SEO? Thanks, Kevin

Need URL structure suggestions
On my website I am in the process of creating expat city guides for different cities in Cambodia. I've already gotten three up, but I am worried that my URL structure is not the best, so I am wondering if I should fix it before I put the rest up. Right now the city guides are housed here: movetocambodia.com/expat-city-and-island-guides/ There's a section for each city, this one is for Battambang: movetocambodia.com/expat-city-and-island-guides/battambang And then there are sections for hotels, restaurants, etc. movetocambodia.com/expat-city-and-island-guides/battambang/battambang-hotels-and-accommodation So once you finally get to a review for an individual hotel or activity, the URL is really long, like this: movetocambodia.com/expat-city-and-island-guides/battambang/battambang-hotels-and-accommodation/classy-hotel Should I just par the section names down so the URL would be something like this: movetocambodia.com/expat-city-guides/battambang/accommodation/classy-hotel/ ? I was hoping by having the long URLs slugs for my section pages, such as "battambang-hotels-and-accommodation" they would be more likely to show on search terms like "Battambang hotels" than if the section was just "accommodation." However, this whole section is getting much less search traffic than anything else on my site, so I am wondering if it is because of these ridiculously long URLs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Multiple URLs
I'm trying to check the URLs of this site- http://www.ofo.com.au, and I see that their old site has 301 re-directed to it...but the site http://ofo.com.au and http://outdoorfurnitureoutlet.com.au are both still up and I can't see any 301 redirects from them. Is it a problem even if when I do a site: search for them I get no results?

Compare URLs with 302 redirects
Hello I have a store which was developed in Magento. I have about 8300 errors like this: URL: http://www.theprinterdepo.com/catalog/product_compare/add/product/100/uenc/aHR0cDovL3d3dy50aGVwcmludGVyZGVwby5jb20vcHJpbnRlci1wYXJ0cy5odG1sP3A9NA,,/ 1 Warning 302 (Temporary Redirect) Found 3 days ago <dl> <dt>Redirects to</dt> <dt>http://goo.gl/XMaZg</dt> <dd>Description</dd> <dd>Using a 302 redirect will cause search engine crawlers to treat the redirect as temporary and not pass any link juice (ranking power). We highly recommend that you replace 302 redirects with 301 redirects.</dd> </dl> <a class="more expanded">Minimize</a> These URLs, are generated by magento by the COMPARE feature. In my store we bought an extension called SEO Enterprise Suite and I asked the developers(www.mageworx) about this error. Their answer is: Sorry for the late reply. Our extension adds NOINDEX,FOLLOW tag to compare and cookies pages so that they won't be indexed. I do not think that these redirects can hurt your SEO because these pages won't be indexed at all. The question is: What should I do? Is there anyway that SEOMOZ ignores these URLs? What should I do next, I just dont like to have that HIGH number of errors and warnings. Thank you

Blocking Google from Crawling Parameters
Hi guys: What is the best way to keep Google from crawling certain urls with parameters? I used the setting in Webmaster Tools, but that doesn't seem to be helping at all. Can I use robots.txt or some other method? Thanks!
