Quality Content - Tick - So now comes the link building, who is on your checklist?
-
Hi
We've spent a month putting together a really complete and awesome video guide, it really is a beautiful and useful thing and is hands down the best bit of content online on this subject. - Great... but
Getting the eyeballs and getting the links?
Related Bloggers and Influencers....
Egobait (anyone who is in the video)
Customers (inform those who already use our site)
But who am I missing, this is our first guide, and a months work deserves a really good push, how else can I push this content for a) links and b) views.
Whats your checklist?
All suggestions welcome, I will revert with success of this afterwards.

Well, it doesn't have to be PR Web, but writing a press release is just another way to repurpose content...
-
Why not? You just need an interesting way of repurposing the content. It may be that you don't use all of it, but just certain parts.
-
Bloggers and influencers - yep. You want these people to share your content if at all possible. I've found that some bloggers won't link to your content if it's on a commercial site however a lot of them are willing to Tweet it if it is great content.
Have you considered paid exposure? Facebook ads are pretty cheap and a small Google PPC budget could be used to target interested searchers.
If it's a city guide have you considered getting in touch with whichever municipal body is in charge of tourism in that city? If it really is the best content out there then you might be able to convince them to share it.
-
I'd not both with PR Web as (personal opinion) it's a waste of space but agree that sharing on social media is a good idea.
-
Hi Zeph,
I can turn my video into an infographic? It's a city guide, you think that will fly?
-
-
Create a press release for it, PR Web is a good choice.
-
Repurpose the content. Visual.ly is really great for that.
-
Share it on Social Media. That means Twitter, Facebook, but especially LinkedIn groups that are related to your topic.
It's Friday, and I'm tired, so that's all I have right now. Let us know how it goes!

Upper and lower case URLS coming up as duplicate content
Hey guys and gals, I'm having a frustrating time with an issue. Our site has around 10 pages that are coming up as duplicate content/ duplicate title. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this. I was going to attempt to 301 direct the upper case to lower but I'm worried how this will affect our SEO. can anyone offer some insight on what I should be doing? Update: What I'm trying to figure out is what I should do for our URL's. For example, when I run an audit I'm getting two different pages: aaa.com/BusinessAgreement.com and also aaa.com/businessagreement.com. We don't have two pages but for some reason, Google thinks we do.

My Link Building Strategy Good or Bad?
Okay I am new to SEO and I have read a few SEO beginner guides and have been practicing SEO over time now. I am trying to do SEO for a new clients site that is a completely new site with no MR and MT and here is my current link building strategy. Can you please review my link building plan and help me out with suggestions and corrections 1. Directory Submissions- From what I understand since the new google penguin updates this isn't as effective of a method but I am trying get high PR directory list, but a lot of them require paid standard submission reviews, otherwise it takes 2-3 months 2. Local Directory Submissions- Such as yelp, angee's list, whitepages, and other local directories. 3. Social Bookmarking- submit links to social bookmarking sites with target keyword(s) as anchor 4. Article Writing & Submission: create articles and submit to high pr article directories with different article titles and also wanted to see different submissions I can make with each article 5. Press Releases- submit to high pagerank press release directories, also wanted to see how many submissions is generally the rule of thumb for press releases. 6. Blog Outreach for Product Reviews: Submit products to blogs with PR 2+ to get review and backlinks 7. Forum Profile Creation- create forum profiles and engage in topics with signature with a link, I understand that since the penguin update this isn't something I should emphasis on 8. Blog Commenting- comment on relevant blogs that have dofollow links and nofollow links for link diversity 9. Guest Blogging- Write unique content and outreach to related blogs for guest posting opportunities 10. .edu & .gov links- How do I gain .edu & .gov links I have read several articles and I am having a hard time understanding this concept, would commenting on .edu & .gov blogs and profiles be an effective method or the correct method for gaining these types of links?

Are links to on-page content crawled / have any effect on page rank?
Lets say I have a really long article that begins with links to anchors on the same page. E.g., Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc, allowing the user to scroll down to different content. There are also other links on this page that link to other pages. A few questions: Googlebot arrives on the page. Does it crawl links that point to anchors on the same page? When link juice is divided among all the links on the page, do these links count and page rank is then lost? Thanks!

Purchased new site with good SERP ranks, do I operate and build links or redirect the TLD?
I recently purchased a blog within my product category - it has many first page rankings for difficult keywords within my niche. I am wondering if it makes more sense for for me to continue to operate this blog and build links to my site and blog (blog is in wordpress) or to export the XML feed and upload the content to my blog (new site also in wordpress), at which point I would do a 301 at the Top-Level domain. Any thoughts, ideas, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
