Ecommerce Store Sales
-
I am the webmaster/developer/seo guy for my company's online stores. Of course doing this gets a lot of pressure based on the sales the websites are bringing in. In the past month or so, we've had a somewhat steep dropoff of sales and I've been having an extremely hard time figuring out why. I have researched our visits, and those are staying steady, our ranks have actually gone up for a few of my targeted keywords, the sites are working fine, all statistics seem like everything is normal other than the amount of sales.
So the question is: does anyone else here run an Ecommerce store that has run into this kind of problem? Have you found any outside influences from google or other search engines that have had this kind of effect that you wouldn't normally think of looking at? I'm just completely out of ideas for things to check... it may very well be they need to re-price things, but I want to make sure I've done my due diligence to find anything I may be able to fix!
Thanks!

Thank you both for the responses! These suggestions certainly help and give me a little more to look into. If I find anything crazy going on, I'll definitely report back!

Russ has given you some good leads. Here are a couple more.....
Look at your competitors. Have they reduced their prices? Are they giving free shipping?
Look at new merchandise in the market. Maybe your stuff is old model now and everyone wants the newest.

There are a whole lot of potential factors:
1. Seasonality: Take a look at your products and see if certain ones stopped selling.
2. Browser Updates: Take a look at your sales by browser-type. You do have goal tracking in Analytics set up, right :-). It is possible that an update to a browser made a particular part of the checkout stop working.
3. Errors in the Funnel: Run through your checkout process again and see if anything is screwing up.
4. Look at your Users: Are more of them coming in via Mobile?

There have been some previous Q&A threads about Trusted Stores and a number of good articles on the web, including this one at SearchEngineLand. and this one at eConsultancy Thanks for anything that you care to share.

Advice and recommendations for ecommerce CMS
One of my clients uses oscommerce as the CMS for their ecommerce websites. I think it it quite dated and inflexible for layout and design purposes. We have been looking at Woocommerce plugin with Wordpress as an alternative. Client has the following minimum requirements: 1. Ability to Manually enter and edit existing orders/ 2. Export Orders and Sales Tax Information to QuickBooks etc. 3. Sync inventory with Quickbooks POS. 4. One Page Checkout 5. Ability to either send out directly or through third party integration, a email marketing service to customers. 6. The site needs to be SEO'ed thoroughly so SEO is a top priority. Anyone have any experience with Woocommerce? So far, Woocommerce looks pretty exhaustive, but I am unable to contact WooCommerce for support unless I purchase their theme or extension plugins. Thoughts, advise, recommendations?

Optimising /product/ pages for our 15,000 product ecommerce store.
Hi guys! We're constantly working on evolving our /product/ pages on the site, however some times it's pretty easy to get lost in your own mess. Especially when the sites consists of 15,000+ products. So it's pretty painful to handcraft every single page. So I thought I'd jump in here to see if anyone had any suggestions for stuff we're missing, and or should improve? These are product pages: http://www.warcom.com.au/products/9954_draytek-vigor-120-single-port-adsl-122-modem http://www.warcom.com.au/products/49884_warcom-deluxe-double-lcd-monitor-stand---free-shipping There is a few issues we're aware of already.. Negatives: To many links in the left menus. To many links in the footer. Positives: We recently included rich snippets.. We're always testing out colors and styles. We're always testing meta data. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Review Functionality Plugins for eCommerce. Which are the best and most cost effective?
Hi Mozzers! Let me give you a bit of background for my question. I currently look after two eCommerce sites and naturally I want to get them using reviews for products for customer interaction / content and rich snippets. I am basically looking for a cost effective plugin that can plugin to our CMS system that can give us review functionality and will be compatible with rich snippets. At the moment we use Disqus for the blog commenting system and i've heard this can be used for product reviews. Any ideas would be great. At the moment our client is holding back due to 'lack of funds' so the most cost effective measures would be appreciated. Cheers,

Setting Up Ecommerce Tracking for Google Analytics?
Hello SEOmoz members, this is my first forum post, so i hope that it goes well. my question for today is, How can i set up set up Ecommerce Tracking for Google Analytics, if my website Does NOT use a Shopping Cart tool? I am currently SEO'ing a couple of Translation Service websites, and the Ordering System is a little different from the regular Shopping Cart tool that you would normally find on a Product website. so far i have added the analytics code to all the pages so i can track my SEO efforts, but is there no way to track the sales from each visitor if the website only provides Quotes? the website has a Quote form setup into 3 steps, and at the end of step 3, a general price is generated for the visitor and a CSR is supposed to contact them to completete the order. we can normally see the total orders and clients in our own system, but does anyone have any way to combine SEO with this information, like how google analytics Ecommerce can? if anyone could provide any helpful information, i would be very Greatful. thank you!
