I built a website on magentogo - IrisScottPrints.com. The seomoz crawl report states 301 rel canonical crawl notices. What if anything should I change?
-
Wondering if I should remove "IRIS SCOTT PRINTS |" from all the title tags and/or change the url structure of the pages, to not include the breadcrumbs... I don't really understand the whole rel canonical structure thing.
Also lots of errors on page title too long - does that really matter?
Lots of faith in everyone here. Thanks in advance.

thanks - does the name in the title tag of every page affect the rel canonical errors I'm seeing from my seomoz crawl reports.

I can only speak from personal experience, but we've done very well with not including our company name in the title tag. I would think that Iris Scott is unique enough that the competition will be low and you should rank naturally. When you say title is too long, how many extra characters do you have (over 70). I don't know how much of a factor that is outside of viewers not seeing the entire snippet in the SERPS. One could argue that Google would look at that because they want to provide the best experience for their viewers, but I would devote my time doing keyword research instead. Good luck!

Taking more than a day to index after the content changed
Hi everyone, As i got stuck with the confusion that - one of our website pages for the business located in Sharjah contents has been moderated and inspected the URL to google for index with new tags and contents. This is the URL which made the changes: https://www.socprollect-mea.com/sharjah-free-zone-company-registration/ and As i came to know that our page reflecting an issue "Valid items with warnings" once after inspecting the URL in the search console. Something which seems interesting and never experienced before - which is showing: "Products"warning - something like that. I came to know that - Missing field "Brand" and showing no global identifier. Does anybody know what it is and can u able to rectify this concern and get me a solution to index our URL faster on Google search. please?

Onpage Optimisation Changes
Hi Guys, I love the SEO world I really do, but sometimes it can be quite confusing and even after 11 years and a few clients under my belt, I still have head-scratching days and this week has been one of them. It seem the rules surrounding onpage optimisation of keywords have changed quite a lot this year. Whilst, I understand blatantly sticking to a 3% keyword density rate for your keywords, hasn't been good practice for a while, and with RankBrain and machine learning, we have to pay attention to semantic words and phrases but it seems there is a new set of rules I haven't learnt yet. For example I had a client I was working on and we we noticed although they were ranking quite high for a keyword phrase, it wasn't actually mentioned in the text at all and so by adding it in a place it made sense, we should lift this and other keywords. Here is what happened, within a week their main keyword moved down from 1 to about 6 and the keyword that wasn't added moved from 4th to 23rd. After scratching my head and then going to full panic mode, I calmed down and looked at competitors, they didn't mention the word in the content either and so I decided to remove the one word we added to the text. The rankings came back overnight (well after doing a fetch as Google and getting to reindex). So if keyword density now is clearly NOT a metric to go on, how do we know the sweet spot? Do we use something like Ryte and make sure we using semantics and keywords within the average of the top ten? Does what Google deems important depend on the niche? Not a right or wrong answer here, just interested in your thoughts Regards Neil

International website - Image names
Hello All! In an international website, it is recommended to have a copy of every image for every language in the website (with translate filenames)? or it is better to use only one copy of each image and change only the alt attributes? Thanks for the help.

What is the best way to change keywords?
I have a client who is moving and I'll need to redirect their site to a new city. Taking local out of the picture, what is the best way to convert the site? Here are somethings I've already done. Changed the title keywords Ensured the page grade is an A for the new keywords. Changed the alt tags on images on the front page. Since I made these changes, the website has actually fallen in ranks from what it was initially ranking for the new city (the website was already ranking organically on page 2 and has dropped to mid page 3.) Thanks in advance

Boatload of 301 Redirects Question
We have a client that came to us and they recently did a site makeover. Previously they had all their pages in root directory including 75+ spammy article pages. On their makeover, they moved all the article pages into a directory and added 301 redirects. In going over their site we noticed they have redundant articles, like an article on blue-marble-article.htm and blue-marbles-article.htm Playing on singular and plural with dulpicate content for most part with exception to making it plural. If they have 75 articles, Id say 1/3 are actually somewhat original content. I would like to 301 redirect 2/3's of the articles to better re-written article pages but that would add a whole lot more 301 redirects. We would then have a 301 redirect from root directory to article directory, then another 301 redirect from spam article to new re-written article. My question is, would this be too many redirects for googlebot to sort through and would it be too confusing or send bad signals? Or should I create a new directory with all good articles and just redirect the entire old articles directory to the new one? Or just delete the redirects and old spammy directory and let those fall on a 404 error page. Id hate to lose 50-75 pages but I think its in fact those spammy pages that could be why the site fell from top of first page google to third page and now 10th page in a years time. I know, Im confused just typing this out. Hope it makes sense for some good feedback and advise. Thanks.

On-Page Report Card with https
Hi, Our site has a 301 redirect to https and I'm getting two different grades for my pages depending upon whether I type: https://www.domain.com (gets an A grade) or www.domain.com (gets a C grade) Is there a setting I need to use to make sure my campaign knows our site is at https? Thank you 🙂

Why is SEOMoz telling me that meta descriptions are missing?
We have descriptions using an Ektron CMS on a .NET platform. IT is wondering if using "meta ID" vs "meta name" is the issue? Here is an example of the HTML code: <meta http-equiv="<a class="attribute-value">Content-Language</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Language</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">en</a>" /> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaKeywords</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Keywords</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">hunting, fishing, outdoor, sportshooting, rodeo, off-road, hunt, fish, outdoors, community, shotgun, rifle, bass, trout, sportfishing, tarpon, ATV, television</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaDesc</a>" name="<a class="attribute-value">Description</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">Deep-cranking technique lands Starks his second Elite Series victory.</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaSubject</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">subject</a>">meta> <meta id="<a class="attribute-value">ctl00_metaTagControl1_metaRating</a>" content="" name="<a class="attribute-value">rating</a>">meta>
