Two companies merge: website A redirect 301 to website B. Problems?

Hi,
last december the company I work for and another company merged. The website of company A was taken offline and the home page was 302 redirected to a page on website B. This page had information about the merger and the consequences for customers. The deeper pages of website A were 301 redirected to similar pages on website B.
After a while, the traffic from the redirected home page decreased and we thought it was time to change the redirect from a 302 into a 301 redirect to the home page. Because there are still a lot of links to the home page of website A and we wanted to preserve the link juice.
Two weeks ago we changed the 302 redirect from website A into a 301 redirect to the home page of website B. Last week the Google webmaster tools account of website B showed the links from the 301 redirected website A.
The total amount of links doubled and the top anchor text is the name of company A instead of company B.
This, off course, could trigger an alarm at Google. Because we got a lot of new links with a different anchor text. A tactic used by spammers/black-hats.
I am a bit worried that our change will be penalized by Google.
But our change is legit. It is to the advantage of our customers to find us if they search for the name of company A or click on a link to website A.
We didn´t change the change of address of domain A in Google webmaster tools yet. Is it a good idea to change the change of address of domain A into domain B?
Are there other precautions we can take?

Just make sure you don't change to a subfolder or subdomain (box.domain.com or domain.com/box)

The redirect has been done correctly. Nothing to worry about there.
The only thing I am worried about is the enormous amount of new links we received through the redirect. In a post penguin world, this could be a threat.
Is it a good idea to change the GWT change of address of domain A into domain B?
Or other precautions?

It is a good thing to ask questions when you are uncertain about something that can be as important as a corporate website.
A website has content assets, link assets, ranking assets, traffic assets, branding assets that can be lost when a site is left go. Each one of these should be evaluated before moving away from a domain. Simply doing a 302 redirect abandons almost all of them. This can be an enormous financial loss.
A 301 redirect is the best way to go if you simply want to transfer link equity and type in traffic to the new domain. My question is... Has this been done correctly?
Also, do you have server logs or analytics from the old domain? If you do you can use them to figure out which pages on the old domain were pulling traffic and for what keywords. If there is nice traffic coming into the site for them then it would be a good idea to consider getting the original content from the old site and moving it to the new site. It might not be too late to redirect the URLs on the old site directly to the new URLs on the new site that hold this content.
If I was you I would consider getting a paid consultation from someone experienced in SEO and moving domains in specific who can look deeply into the data from the old site and recommend how to best capitalize it on a new site. You could be walking away from thousands to millions of future dollars in revenue.

Merge 2 websites into one, using a non-existing, new domain.
I need to merge https://www.WebsiteA.com and https://www.WebsiteB.com to a fresh new domain (with no content) https://www.WebsiteC.com. I want to do it the best way to keep existing SEO juice. To merge website and blog?
I was hoping to get a bit of advice if possible. Our website has a domain authority of 25. Our blog, on a separate platform has a domain authority of 73. In essence, we were wondering if we should move all the content from our blog to our website and then set up redirects? What's stopped us so far is the fear that the links from the blog, with the higher domain authority, are having a positive effect on the website, and if we were to move the content we'd lose the value of those backlinks. So I was wondering if you could possibly advise me on the matter? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Max Number of 301 Redirections?
Hi, We currently made a re-design of a website and we changed all our urls to make them shorter. I made more than 300 permanent redirections but plenty more are needed since WMT is showing some more 404s from old urls that I hadn't seen because they were dynamic. The question is, please, is there a limit? I think we have more than 600 already. We don't want to create a php commando to redirect all the old ones to our home, we are redirecting them to their correspondent url. By the way, Im doing them with the 301 method in .htaccess. How long after google crawl do you need 301 redirects
We have just added 301's when we moved our site. Google has done a crawl & spat back a few errors. How long do I need to keep those 301's in place? I may need to change some. Thanks

Double 301 redirect
Hi together, due to some technical reasons I have redirect (301) an existing link two times. Example: www.mydomain.com/root/site.html > 301 > www.mydomain.com/site.html > 301 www.mydomain.com/site_new.html Is there anybody how has got some experience like doing a double redirect? 301 redirecting some pages directly, and the rest to a single page
I've read through the Redirect guide here already but can't get this down in my .htaccess I want to redirect some pages specifically (/contactinfo.html to the new /contact.php) And I want all other pages (not all have equivalent pages on the new site) to redirect to my new (index.php) homepage. How can I set it up so that some specific pages redirect directly, and all others go to one page? I already have the specific oldpage.html -> newpage.php redirects in place, just need to figure out the broad one for everything else.

Duplicate Content within Website - problem?
Hello everyone, I am currently working on a big site which sells thousands of widgets. However each widget has ten sub widgets (1,2,3... say) My strategy with this site is to target the long tail search so I'm creating static pages for each possibly variation. So I'll have a main product page on widgets in general, and also a page on widget1, page on widget2 etc etc. I'm anticipating that because there's so much competition for searches relating to widgets in general, I'll get most of my traffic from people being more specific and searching for widget1 or widget 7 etc. Now here's the problem - I am getting a lot of content written for this website - a few hundred words for each widget. However I can't go to the extreme of writing unique content for each sub widget - that would mean 10's of 1,000's of articles. So... what do I do with the content. Put it on the main widget page was the plan but what do I do about the sub pages. I could put it there and it would make perfect sense to a reader and be relevant to people specifically looking for widget1, say, but could there be a issue with it being viewed as duplicate content. One idea was to just put a snippet (first 100 words) on each sub page with a link back to the main widget page where the full copy would be. Not sure whether I've made myself clear at all but hopefully I have - or I can clarify. Thanks so much in advance David
