Clients asks: How long till on Bing and Yahoo?

Hi there,
One of my clients had asked me how long it would take for his site to get up on Yahoo and Bing. He's currently on Google, but those other search engines are lagging.
It's been a week or so since his site launched, but I'm not sure what to tell him as I don't really know much about Yahoo and Bing.

Bing provides Yahoo search data so if you are in one, you will be in the other and vice versa.
There are many factors involved which can affect when your site is indexed by Bing and if your site is indexed. Here are some steps you can take to help:

open an account with Bing Webmaster Tools if you have not already.

upload a sitemap directly via your Bing WMT account

use the Submit URLs to add your home page

ensure you have not blocked your site in robots.txt for the Bing crawler

ensure your pages do not have the noindex tag. Since you are indexed in Google it seems this concern does not apply to you
Bing is a lot more selective then Google when it comes to indexing sites. There are a variety of issues which can negatively impact your site being indexed:

ensure your site maps are all pages you want indexed. It should not contain any 404 errors or redirected URLs

try to use valid code on your site. While Google is willing to work around many coding errors, Bing seems more selective. You can use Microsoft's IIS tool to check your site for violations. Otherwise try to ensure your site can be crawled cleanly and has minimal or no validation errors.

if your site and it's pages are linked to by authoritative sites, it will increase the speed and likelihood of your pages being indexed

How long you've seen it take to rank in small niche
Hello, How long do you see small niche sites taking to rank where they should be for their strength? Our last site took at least 6 months. Our current site's home page for our main term is stuck at around the 40th page and not moving. It's an exact match domain so it should be on at least page 2. We have one site in the industry already that carries similar products but it is much bigger with a much wider scope of products. It took a while to rank too. If I optimize for a long tailed keyword, will I also catch the short keywords within it?
Say my long tailed keyword has three words in it that I also consider keywords. Will I catch the searches for those short keywords, or just the long tailed keyword phrase?

What are the top tips for winning on Google, Bing, and Yahoo?
We just launched a new site that is starting to be indexed well in Google, but Bing and Yahoo are lagging a bit. I understand that the search engines are different algorithms and will take different lengths of time to index, rank, etc. What I'm curious about is are there any other tips / advice / things to keep in mind when trying to rank on the different search engines? Google visits falling at the expense of Bing
Has anyone else noticed their percentage of search visits from Google slipping in the last few weeks at the expense of Bing? We've seen a 4% swing in the last month. Obviously Google is still the dominant presence (acconuting for 88.4% of all organic visits to our site kenwoodtravel.co.uk) but still it would be interesting to know if this is just a blip or more of a trend?

I need help with drastic SERP difference between Bing and Google
One of our sites that has been around for a couple of years has about 60,000 pages showing on google, however, bing only shows 90 pages for the site. This same phenomenon has been happening across the board for our sites. Any ideas to improve our indexing results for bing?

Why bing is not indexing our website?
We are up almost a six month already, google indexed 46,900 pages. We have decent traffic and a lot of real external links to us. No single page has been indexed by bing or yahoo. I have submitted sitemap to bing's webmaster tool two weeks ago and still it is in Pending stage. here is our address: www.showme.com and here is site map: http://www.showme.com/sitemapxml.php What can be the reason of that? Is Bing an Important search engine for traffic
Hi I would like to know if Bing is an important search engine for traffic. I have submitted my site to bing http://www.chesterhypnotherapy.com which is currently off line as i have just transfered it to a new hosting company and i have found in the past that i get very little traffic from it. On average i would say i get around five a day where as with google i gets lots of traffic. I have submitted a site map to bing but that has not increased traffic. Can anyone let me know for bing is an important search engine if you are targeting customers from the UK and if it is, does anyone have any ideas of how to increase traffic through bing
