Title tag code
-
Hi,
I have a couple of websites where I can't define the title tag (CMS does not support it) on a few default pages.
On these pages "the system" just uses the primary/main title tag (from the frontpage) and my programming skills (as if I have any...!) have not been able to make a html code or something to override the main title tag on these specific pages.
Does this make sense at all and can anyone give me a hint, a code to try out or something?
Problem is that I now have 3 pages with the same title tag which in terms of SEO isn't too good, so to say...
Thanks in advance.

Well if you think you have the means to undertake such a migration project then why not, would be a fantastic bit of experience and potentially a good earner.. Just be careful because it could be a big risk if you dont have the resource to do it properly.

I guess....no short cuts...some easy title tag html thing?...I am for sure more .com than .net...:)) - no programming skills...stopped learning after programming a calculator in Basic on my C64....that was my masterpiece....(!)
-
Hmmm...you're right - problem is, that I am the client and I'm constantly telling myself to try and find another cms, but with 2 websites with more than 20,000 products etc....its really not just something that can be done easily....
-
There is usually a way to code around it if you know your SQL and php or .Net, Impossible is never usually in a coders vocabulary...
-
I would say this is an instance where you need to go to the client and tell them there CMS is outdated (and sucks) and they need to progress into the current era of web, [UPSELL ALERT]

It is a forum where Dandomain users can post ideas on what they should work on in the future...
Which is quite a lot...

I guess I need to brush up on my Danish
It came up as something completely different in the English translation.

Hi Brent,
Thanks - it actually says that it is not possible to set individual titles for the 3 pages mentioned...hmm...but great job finding that post.
I guess it is not that difficult for an expert to make some code to implement or is it ? It is possible to implement your own code on these pages directly in the CMS, so... any ideas ,)

Try out Brent's solution in your dashboard and let us know how it goes :).

Translation sucks a bit, but I think it's saying it can be set at the page level in the CMS dashboard.

Hi George,
Thanks for your reply.
It is a local (Danish) web shop solution called "Dandomain", so my guess is that you don't know it
About 50.000 online shops in Denmark use this shop, but not many from other countries.
If you have an idea on what to do i would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Jan

Duplicate Title Tag issue due to Shopify CMS
Hi guys, I'm a novice really when it comes to SEO, yet have taken it in house for the next year or so, firstly because I have had my fingers burnt twice...and secondly, to allow me to recoup some of the loss from my prior campaigns. One thing I have noticed on my site (which uses a Shopify E-commerce CMS), is that Shopify duplicates a url for each my products. An example of this is http://www.vidahomes.co.uk/collections/designer-radiators-heating/products/reina-aliano
Technical SEO | | philscott2006
http://www.vidahomes.co.uk/products/reina-aliano Both products provide exactly the same information, yet appear in different ways subject to how the customer finds them. I contacted Shopify to find a fix to this issue when I noticed a high amount of Duplicate Title Tags in my SEO crawl. Their response was as follows. Using a rel canonical link will help prevent duplicate content issues with search engines. All you need to do is add this line of code: **<link rel="canonical" href="{{ canonical_url }}" />** ** before the tag in the theme.liquid file. It’s that simple :)** The theme liquid file basically generates the outer template for the whole site, and is only compromised when over-ruled. This all seems a little too easy for me, so I am hoping whether someone can elaborate as to whether this will work or not, as I'm not entirely sold on their response. I was always under the impression with canonical tags, that they should be added to the header section of the duplicate page in question, which refers back to the original page. The code I have been told to add above implies that the canonical tag would be added to every page in my site so the Google robot would have a hard time in finding anything at all of relevance Thanks in advance for any assistance with this. Duplicate titles Question
Hi eveyone, I have around 1000 duplicate titles and meta description. The poblem was that I had pages in my home page and different pages had the same title. For example, index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/
Technical SEO | | anoopbal/index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N12/
/index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1444/
/index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1448/
/index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1448/P6/
/index.php/site/articles/should_you_eat_protein_every_2-3_hours_for_muscle_growth/N1452/I have 172 of the same page!So I took off all the pagination on my home page and just added 'click fo more'. When they click more, it takes them to the category. So my question is will google slowly start deleting or non-indexing these duplicate titles or pages as I have removed it from my website? (Just so that you know I added a canonical link and figuring out how to add page numbers to met titles and meta description tags for categories with pages)

Header Tags
Ok so I am writing different pages and the first heading is an H3 just because I wanted to it be a certain size. Then as you see the content, I have an H1 tag. Example page: http://www.oxfordmshomes.net/condos/acadia-court-Oxford-MS you can see that "Acadia First" is the first thing you see on the page and it uses an H3 element. Long story short, my hierarchy is wrong. Does this have any negative effect on my SEO efforts?
