Should I remove links from my internal blog?
-
I have blogs/news sites on every one of my clients' websites (each representing a different business within the same industry - self storage).
On each of these blog sites, I have a writer who places about 3-5 exact keyword match links (varying anchor text) to give interlink juice to the other off-site businesses owned by the client.
Each of these blogs receive about five posts per week.
I am sure this is mega-over-optimizing and a stupid thing to do considering penguin.
So, my questions are:
Moving forward - 1. Should i stop adding so many blog articles to each site?
2. How many interlinking anchor texts should I use per blog?
3. Should I go back and either get rid of all those interlinks on past blogs or just trash the blog articles altogether?
Please help if you can - I very much appreciate the responses

Hi,
It's good to place links where the reads can benefit. It is not good to place links to manipulate the search engine. Having EMA (Exact Match Anchor) multiple times on a blog post clearly looks like an over optimization attempt.
1. Should i stop adding so many blog articles to each site?
You can add as much content to your blog as you want. However, it must be good/entertaining/educational content.
2. How many interlinking anchor texts should I use per blog?
There is no real number for that, placing a link to another resource should be done for the user not the spider.
3. Should I go back and either get rid of all those interlinks on past blogs or just trash the blog articles altogether?
I would remove all the links that do not help the readers or change some of the links so that they do help the reader.

Are these blogs actually intended to provide useful, interesting, amusing content to web surfers? Or do they exist purely to pass pagerank?
If it's the former, I have a hard time believing that readers will trust the information if it looks spammy (and 3-5 exact match KW links per post looks spammy). So the strategy probably wouldn't work for that reason.
If it's the latter, it's trivially easy for Google to figure out that you're running an incestuous little blog network to move pagerank around. That's not the sort of thing they want to reward. Meaning they've already figured out how to devalue those links, or they will soon. So the strategy either isn't working now or will stop working soon.
In either case, your questions are about rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Manual Links Vs. Smart Links
Hey Everybody, Is there any downside to the smart link plugins that I see all over wordpress? Basically in short I enter a keyword and where I want that link to go (primarily internal) and set the parameters of repetition etc and it automatically adds the link to that. Now other than the obvious situation where it might put a link in an awkward place, is there anything wrong with this sort of software? Part of me things that this sort of software would not be liked by Google, and that it isn't really getting counted as a true link, but i wanted to see if there were other thoughts or experience with this.

How much time does it take for the links to be forwarded to redirected link?
Hi there,
Link Building | | MoeezLodhi
Thank you for taking out some time for this question; I have changed the permalinks last week for a website.. I forgot to redirect old permalinks to the new one.. So I did 301 redirection, it has been 4-5 days since I did that but the links are not forwarded to the new Permalink so far.
How much time should I wait for the links to be forwarded to the new permalinks? Secondly, I am sure I have done the 301 redirect correctly, as when I go to the old url / permalink it directs me to the new permalink. So I am sure 301 is done correctly. Do I need to submit the sitemap again?0 -
Should I Pay For Link Removal?
Hi, I'm in the middle of a link removal campaign and getting a lot of replies from site owners asking for payment or directing me to a link which is effectively a payment page. The way I see it is my client is paying me to do their SEO. I'd rather be spending my time and their money building quality links, therefore the link removal process is in my way and requests for payment an insult. However, I am not without sympathy for site owners being expected to remove links free of charge. After all there's absolutely no incentive for them. So far I've had a zero tolerance attitude towards this and refused to pay, but just wondered what everyone else's opinion was. On the other hand, many site owners have been very helpful and removed the links at my request. Is it the right thing for me to remove these domains from my Disavow Links file? I'm finding it to be a bit of a moral conundrum to be honest!

Ecomerce: Would 4 link sections leak too much link juice?
Hello, In my content management for our ecomerce site, I've found that there are sometimes links to sites in our industry that have "helpful links" sections. Several strong sites link directly to these resource sections. There are 4 different topics that fit this trend in our industry. Would it leak too much link juice to make 4 comprehensive link sections and place a link to them on our "Useful Articles" page? Or should I stick to one comprehensive link section? Or perhaps a small link section? Or none at all? Thanks.

Blog posts with currently no links question
Hi, If a blog has 100's of quality blog posts all with PR 1-3 but has no internal linking going on, what kind of affect would it have if someone was to go through all the pages using mixed anchor text (where it fits) back to money pages. Would generating 100's of internal links from a blog in a matter of days cause problems / flag up to SE's. I'm guessing it would be best to stagger it over a long period of time. Cheers

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks,

Nofollow blog links
Does a nofollow blog link pass any link juice back to the site the link is pointing to?
