Local SEO Rankings Report Tools (based on several locations)?
-
Hi,
Just a quick question.
I am looking for a Rankings Report tool that allows a user to not only provide a list of Keywords, but also a list of Locations for which to check Google UK's ranking results.
In practice, I would like to be able to enter 6 names of Towns next to my keyword list and get "localised results".
Many thanks in advance,
Cheers
Greg
PS: first Q within the Q&A, so please apologise for any potential "stupid questions" -
Thanks for clarifying things! It can look a bit odd to come to a two-year-old question on the day you join and have a link to a product with no context.

Pardon me Keri it's late and I forgot my manners! made an edit in the comment to correct this. Thanks!

Hi Ryan,
Welcome to Moz! I noticed your profile has Report Pro in it. If you're affiliated with a product you're recommending, it's a good policy to please disclose that in your answer. Thanks!

It sounds like the multi-location reporting your asking for here is close to what Report Pro does. Check it out here: https://reportpro.net/landing-page/
Edit: Full disclosure I have been good friends with the Report Pro guys for a long time and I have been helping them build out their reporting software. They originally helped me build Local SEO (Google Maps) reporting software for Voice Media Group and are now selling it to other local SEO companies.

I know this thread is a couple of years old, but I see you're still active here on the site, and wanted to let you know we now have a ranking tracking solution! Details are in our blog post at http://moz.com/blog/local-rankings-in-moz-analytics.

Hi Paul,
Just looked at some old Q&A of mine...
Whitespark.ca now offer a Local Rank Tracker
https://www.whitespark.ca/rank-trackerA bit pricey but does the job.

Hi Paul,
Many thanks for your feedback. This confirms what I thought...
Proxies are obviously a simple but not easily scalable solution for whomever would want to create such a Rankings Report tool.
Looking forward to seeing somebody come up with a solution to this.
Cheers

The method Megan's suggesting would only provide info in cases where the searcher actually included the geographic modifier as one of the search terms, Gregory.
In order for a tool to provide the info as you want it, it would need to be maintaining proxies in all the possible cities one might want to get "local" search data from (i.e. search results as if the search was triggered from someone in that actual location.)
I'm not aware of any tool that provides that kind of data. I too would love to hear if anyone knows of such a thing.

Hi Megan,
Many thanks for your feedback.
Hmmm, can you please confirm that this would equate to having your browser (Google UK) set to this specific location? I have trouble believing that just adding the name of the city would generate similar results to actually doing a mobile search while in that specific city?
Again, many thanks in advance for your feedback...
Cheers

Hi Greg! This is Megan from the SEOmoz help team. If you start a campaign, our rankings section can track local rankings for keywords. You would just need to enter the keywords separately with each of the towns you're interested in. For example, if I wanted to track local rankings for 'pizza' in different cities in the Northwest, I would need to enter the keywords like the following:
portland pizza
seattle pizza
olympia pizza
tacoma pizza
Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with other tools that will track local rankings, but hopefully this will help!
Cheers!

Question about SEO and domains
Hello, Over time we have purchased many domain names that relate to our business. Let us say we sell chairs of type A, chairs of type B, Tables of Type C etc. We also have a main web site (main domain) which has been functioning for many years and is ranked well but not great. Since we have domain chairtypeA.com and chairtypeB.com I was thinking of putting them to good use as follows. STRATEGY A a) Create the domain as a parallel domain but is mainly informational - it talks about chair type A, its history, what to look for etc. It has the same IP address as main domain b) Have all the links on the page be directly linked to the MAIN site- so if you are on page for ChairtypeA and want to see it in a set you just click a link and it takes you to the main site. c) The look and feel of the ChairtypeA site is exactly the same as the main site - in fact except for the Heading, title and content the whole framework is from the main site. My hope is that if people are looking for chairtypeA, we would rank and attract customers. Plus it would use up some of the domain names we have purchased. THE OTHER ALTERNATIVE (Strategy B) is a) Create a domain for chairtypeA parallel to main domain (same IP address) b) redirect it to subfolder in main domain c) refer to the pages also as maindomain/chairtypeA (here is where it is no longer purely parallel) I have 3 objectives a) Use my purchased domain names b) Focus on certain products (liek ChairtypeA) c) Overall increase visibility and ranking Please give me any feedback which indicates whether Strategy A or Strategy B is more effective, or if any has negative consequences. Or you could suggest Strategy C - a completely new approach. Thanks Sam

Erroneous "Weekly Keyword Ranking & On-page Optimization Report" For Campaign
Hi, I just received an email alert from Seomoz telling me my "Weekly Keyword Ranking & On-page Optimization Report " for the period 11/06/12 - 11/13/12 is ready. It is just a copy of the previous report though, all rankings and ranking changes are the same. What is up with that? Best regards, Martin

Rankings in Google UK
Hi everyone, I've posted before on this and I'm still not satisfied that the answer is correct. Basically, my ranking report is saying that hardly any of my keywords are ranking in the top 50 of Google UK. Now, I appreciate that rankings can be affected by my search history, but I've tried other computers, other IP addresses, logged out of Google, cleared cache etc.. and I'm still seeing the terms I'm wanting to rank for on the first and second pages of Google UK. What is going on? My boss is wanting to see progress with these terms - I'm confident that we're ranking well, but the report is saying otherwise.

Keyword ranking tool
Hello, What is best practice for knowing if a keyword is too difficult to try to rank for. i understand the keyword difficulty tool in seoMOZ, but am unsure of how it actually relates to if I should attempt to rank for the keyword. Is there a differential people use such as if a site has a Page Authority of 60 we will not try to rank for a keyword that has a keyword difficulty ranking of 40?
